Passholder Lines

That's what I wonder too-"Sorry, sir, I know that you've been standing in this line, but now you have to go over there and stand in that line instead." I'm not sure a CM would do that, but it would be nice, otherwise the idea won't work. Yet, it's a great idea! And you think that if they put a sign up, people might read? No way! But I run an income tax office, and we have the same issue with people not reading signs.

This is exactly what they do at Magic Kingdom between 4-7 on party nights. Event Guests to the right, regular guests to the left. People still ignore the signs, and the cast literally telling them which way to go, and then complain.

And I hope this is extended and used during Food and Wine, it was an absolute nightmare trying to get into Epcot. I understand security lines, but it was a disorganized chaotic mess trying to get into the park. People were waiting in lines they thought went to a turnstile but instead went to a merge with the people who were actually IN line. It was awful. And this happened on weekends, weekdays, off season, busy season it didn't matter. If you tried to get into Epcot between 10-noon it was going to be bad.

A lot of first time guests don't realize they need park hoppers or they bought a used ticket, etc., and get the blue light, it happens a lot. Plus the finger scan doesn't match or whatever using wrong finger. Pass holders don't run into that a lot, so their line should run faster. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a DVC or pass holder merch kiosk right after the entrance lol.

So many other parks have tried this and the application tends to fail more often than not. It requires advance education of the different lines and strict enforcement. Neither of those are things Disney is strong in handling.

Yup.. unless the entrance is broken off somewhere else... the 'wrong line' or 'the path to my line is blocked' issues bog this down

Doesn't WDW already do this with the line for those entering the park before opening for ADRs? Has that been a failure?

The thing with a non-AP getting up the turnstile -- wouldn't it be tough to even know if the aren't an AP until after they scanned their ticket media? Especially with a Magic Band (not sure if the cards would be visibly different). Therefore, the only way the CM would know they are in the wrong line is once they are scanned in -- at which point, wouldn't it be easier to just let them in since they've already had the pass scanned?

AP holders get a card along with their Magic Bands, which we have to show to get some of the AP discounts offered, so I wonder if we will have to show the card to get into that line? That may help make sure people go the right way - you have to hold up your card and a CM will point you in the direction of the passholder line

DVC gets treated a lot better than their AP holder's. Is this really just about DVC not getting a separate entrance as well?

As long as this is a "specialty" for the holidays only, then I don't have a problem with this but if this turns into the next new thing I don't think I like it because this is just another perk given to passholders when they already have enough and it makes a vacationer like me feel as if the company doesn't care about the customer that is the most "important" to the parks and that is the vacationer. This place was created for vacation, it IS A VACATION RESORT and I feel that if they're going to do a line just for passholders because they believe passholders "know what to do" then there should be one for "constant returning vacationers/DVC MEMBERS" as well because there are those of us who aren't "annual passholders" but return to Disney World and an almost yearly basis for trips and we are "more than capable of knowing how to handle the lines" as the next annual passholder. This I feel is a slap in the face to those guests and is just another way of letting vacationers know that their money/presence is not welcome because this sure doesn't feel welcoming to me. As I am a fellow DVC member I will expect the same treatment or else this is not going to be good for business in the future. Disney had better watch and wake up: there are already too many people that quit coming to vacation there years ago because of not only the outrageous price hikes on EVERYTHING but also because of the constant "perks" given to annual passholders. Now, there are also many people who were annual passholders who AREN'T ANYMORE because of the changes and price hikes. So...as I said, they better watch out because there will be people who find out about this and will be MAJORLY UPSET and as I said earlier will only hurt them further in the bottom line.

Reason why I'm being so dramatic is the fact that I know how they work and this is basically a "practice run" and if proven successful will turn into the real deal and only then will I start questioning for how long will I continue to be a DVC member/loyal Disney World vacationer? This is not a good idea in the long run and I hope to God it never turns into a real practice because it will be a major slap in the face to the other customers and will hurt business in the long run. I don't know who continues to come up with these "shenanigans" but they need to be fired soon. These idiots running the theme parks are not doing a good job in figuring out things. Now of course most of you annual passholders are happy to hear this but you really need to think about it because all this is is showing more favoritism and loyalty just because you have the ability to be able to come from within the state because you live in central Florida, when in reality it's not a nice gesture to the people who pay in the hundreds/thousands for a nice trip because they don't have that luxury of living in Florida. I know all about it and used to live there and was a passholder myself one time and I felt very guilty and haven't renewed my pass. Even though I don't live there anymore I still could have renewed it, but I didn't because it just didn't feel right to me. For anyone who is a DVC member/loyal annual vacationer, you need to feel slighted and be upset because this is just the beginning...

DVC members have "perks" as well. As they should. I don't complain about them.. DVC isn't right for me in the long run. My last two trips alone could have paid for a small contract...still doesn't make sense for me, so I won't buy. I realize that it makes sense for others to buy into DVC and I don't begrudge them their "perks" for membership.

I think people don't need to worry about what everyone else is doing/getting. Someone else's perks don't make my vacation experience better or worse.

Exactly.

But I can see why some are saying just treat everyone the same. It's come to "well you get more than *I* do" and it shouldn't be that way, LOL

I guess my mindset is just-
1. It has no impact on me, so I don't care.lol
2. I think a business should reward members and pass holders with special perks, I call that good business.
3. I don't worry about what the person next to me has or doesn't have. (See #1)

I'd like to know what kind of "other" perks you two are talking about because I hate to break it to you but an annual passholder has way more perks than the DVC member. This is fact. I think you two are more than likely upset that somebody is raining in on your parade because someone is putting annual passholders in their place for once. Most of us that aren't KNOW THAT PASSHOLDERS GET WAY MORE PERKS THAN THEY SHOULD. Even cast members at the parks have felt the same way and stated as such.

I purchased an AP this year, want to know why? Because it gave me 30% off of 5 nights of my 9 night vacation and between that discount and the memory maker savings it cost an extra $50 over what I had originally booked, add in the food and merchandise discounts.. it complaetely paid for itself. So basically I got a "free AP" and I knew I would be returning for a quick weekend early next fall, so it was a no brainer.

I get a discount on the Disney After Dark, but I don't get in free like DVC on their special night. Guess What? I don't care. Why? Because it has 0 impact on me personally. If I wanted the perks of DVC then I would purchase DVC. Simple.
