News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

Ok so while I was there on Saturday for my once a month visit I decided to see what this Pixar fest was all about.

First of all I have to say that the strawberry funnel cake sold in hungry bear is delicious.
I normally don’t eat much bread items or sweet things but this funnel cake looked interesting.

I can definitely say that I was surprised to find that this funnel cake and all the stuff on it was not very sweet. It actually had just enough amount of sweetness and the fresh strawberries balanced off the strawberry cream on it.

I saw the Pixar play parade and was surprised to see that the floats looked a bit faded. I’m guessing they didn’t do much refurbishment before they brought them back. The added floats were a nice touch but way to small. I do hate that the acrobats sometimes don’t get into the whole point of the parade. The bugslife float had one of the acrobat going all out while the other just swung back and forth for as long as I could see them. Flick and his girlfriend just sat there with no swinging. The toy story float had no action. The two acrobats just sat there doing nothing. Not even interacting with guests.
Overall the only thing I enjoyed from it was the music. The rest of the parade has it good points but it needs a refurb badly.

Guests do seem to enjoy meeting the Pixar characters and for those that say that Pixar movies don’t last and are forgotten are mistaken.
I was surprised to hear more than one guests ask cast members where the walll-e merchandise was.
People expected to see all Pixar characters for the fest but looks like Disney neglected Wall-E and ratatouille when it came to merchandise. I personally only saw a couple pins and that’s it.

I stayed to see the fireworks, I do agree that it is a bit off compared to other fireworks because of so much dialogue but overall it is a good show.
The crowd really seemed to enjoy it quite a bit.
I stood next to a family. Two couples with children, they actually flew to Disneyland from up north to see Pixar fest. Their children are big Pixar fans and they decided to come and enjoy the parades and fireworks. They were a bit sad that they did not pay attention about the delayed opening of Pixar Pier and the Pixar coaster.

Back to the fireworks, I think Saturday was a grad night because I saw lots of young adults. The amount of energy before and during the fireworks wasn’t pretty cool.
I was standing near the Main Street Starbucks and during every segment people were actually singing to many of the songs, when Coco came out the crowds bursted in excitement and when the toy story scene started you could hear people’s silence as the death scene played.

I have to admit that this show is not the best but it is quite entertaining. no matter what people think about Pixar standing in a group of hundreds of young adults it makes you realize how important these characters are to them.
There is a big connection to them just like older adults have a connection to older Disney movies

Yeah, I went last Thursday with a couple friends (college-aged) and one of them started crying during the fireworks show. She said it's because they showcase all the scenes from the movies that made her cry growing up.

Definitely a disconnect between the younger demographic who grew up with Pixar and the older users here who question the Pixar brand.

Yep. I've shared this before, but one of my favorite Disneyland memories happened on my last visit while enjoying Remember Dreams Come True. During the Frozen segment I watched a small child sitting on her dad's shoulders wave her arms in the air enthusiastically while she spontaneously belted out Let it Go as "snow" swirled around her. Sometimes we get so caught up in our personal agendas and cyncism online we forget what the Disneyland experience means for people like that little girl.

Ok sure...but did you bother to ask her what her POV was on sightlines???

I heard about that.

"Give us 5 bucks and we'll let you buy churros at the regular price everyone pays. And you get a pin"

Have I got this right?
Its not even a pin, its a button. That is even worse.

They could have at least given people a nice collectable pin. That way at least it doesnt feel like you gave them $5 dollars for nothing
