The problem is, no one in their right mind should be dumb enough to pay a cent for this. Disney clearly lists out all the ridiculous lackluster offerings this comes with. If you (not you, Dr. Hans Reinhardt) look at that and say, "Yeah! That's a good use of my money" then I have no pity or sympathy for you. You are clearly the type of person who has so much disposable income that you feel it is worth your investment just to be among the first people on the other side of a rope.

If the demand is great enough for an overpriced laughable event like this, then by all means I do not fault Disney for providing that audience with the supply for it. It caters to a very specific niche target. The type of people who join members-only clubs and care about exclusivity more than substance. That's not my lifestyle, but no doubt here in SoCal there are a lot people who live it.

That's not greed. They're not taking advantage of poor people. These are grown adults with $$$ to throw around as they see fit.

You're missing what the goal is here. While there will be a few of those rabid fans that just HAVE to see it first, the majority will be the Disney vloggers from across the country. The vlogger will make much more than the cost of entry in ad revenue, and Disney will get FREE advertising.

True... Although Disney already knows how to work the press machine pretty hard without resorting to such cheap tactics. (See Mission Breakout) I'd estimate there are only a dozen or so vloggers who are actually making decent $$$ at this, the rest of them are not pulling in the type of money to justify this ticket price.

The old press machine is on its way out, vlogs are where the newer generation is getting their info. Its the new Internet Economy and Disney is just utilizing it. They've had events like this for awhile now. And Disney vloggers are usually the first ones to sign up.

Right... but my point still stands. Only the cream of the crop are actually generating any real revenue from their content, the rest are just hobbyists doing it for fun. There are a tiny little fraction of DL vloggers who'd seen any return on investment by plunking down $300 a ticket.

Even Fresh Baked, one one of the bigger ones, are seeing a typical max of 15k views on their videos (usually 5k to 10k) . That's small potatoes in Youtube land, it's does not equate to the type of $$$ you think it does.

Only $299 to be the first to experience new paint, some new music, and maybe a few new food items... Sounds like a bargain to me! /S

Even AP'ers (I think) are not that fanatical enough to shell out that kind of $$$ for this.
They will. It will sell out. That being said, I haven't been able to find the $299 price anywhere but some of these twitterheads are "connected" and probably got it from a source.

Yeah, but they can make so much more with their video, so its worth the $300. It all about clicks on the videos. Every time you click on the video they get a percentage of the ad revenue. So the goal here is to be one of the first to get a video up, because you know EVERYONE will be searching for videos.

True they can make more. But I’d guess most don’t.

Actually you'd be surprised. On average its about $7.62 for every 1000 views per video, give or take. So it can add up pretty quick on multiple videos a week. That is why smart vloggers like Fresh Baked splits their videos into multiple ones to get more view and thus more ad revenue.

Also -- it's not everytime you click on the video. It's everytime an ad is served and you actually engage with that ad. Across all their videos, Fresh Baked has 35 million views. Think about how often you are served an ad watching their content -- it's not that often. But let's say, hypothetically, an ad is served every single time someone viewed their video. Avg payout is anywhere from $1-$5per thousand ad views. That comes out to a grand total of $35,000 - $157,000 - again, with the extremely unrealistic notion that an ad was served every single video.

Now looking at this more realistically where ads are not served on every video, you can start to see how quickly all that $$$ dwindles to a big pile of pocket crumbs.

No... it's not per video views. It's per ad views. (See my reply). Go watch their vids, tell me how often you are being served ads.

Also -- pricing on ad inventory also changes based on target. If you are placing ads on premium content, you pay a premium for it. Ads on long tail Disneyland vloggers is going to be far cheaper, and as a result, pay out less.

Yearly projected range:

$3.3K - $52.7K

So even if you say they make the lower end, lets say split in the middle, that is still $25k for this year. A $300 investment in a preview event makes sense to increase that revenue.

Ok... sure I'll meet you halfway. Now think about how many other vloggers out there don't even come close to that and how very few do.

That is true, but that doesn't mean they aren't willing to invest in their future. So spending $300 on a preview as an investment (and a tax write off) makes business sense from a vlogger perspective.

A 'new' land that won't even be completed when they do this.
Yeah i found that interesting. they mention that people will be the first to experience the four districts of Paradise Pier but the Inside Out section doesn't even open till the end of the year and the toy story area will be half done as well

That's not greed.

Charging people roughly 3x park admission to preview a section of the park on top of all the other needless revenue streams they've devised in recent years sure seems like a selfish desire for wealth to me.
