News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

I would have preferred that Paradise Pier not be turned into an aqusition land but the Victorian theming was weak. I only felt it's presence around TSMM and the Pier entrance. My issue is not so much what is being replaced but what it's being replaced with. In a perfect world they would have strengthened the Victorian theming throughout the land and added a quality dark ride.

I wonder if phase 2 is coming. Why did they stop at the Coaster? Paradise Park is an odd land with a few flat rides and Mermaid. I wonder if it will be a completely separate land on the map. Why not knock down Goofys and make a Pixar dark ride. Move Mermaid to Pacific wharf. Retheming Jellyfish, SSS, and Zephyr would be incredibly easy.

Paradise Pier wasn't super immersive but it was very beautiful at night and one of my favorite areas of any Disney park.

This is absolutely laughably pathetic and completely detrimental to the massive overhaul the park received just 6 years ago! Paradise Pier will have gone from generic Six-Flags quality theming, to minimal but appropriate Victorian era theming, to back to literally exactly the Six Flags method of just naming generic, unthemed rides off of IP's.

California Screamin' is a modern steel coaster designed to look like an old wooden boardwalk coaster. So, I guess the Incredibles also wanted their coaster to have this aesthetic?

Oh no then this is going to be completely out of place! Why would they do this? I can't see any reason whatsoever to do this!

Sorry, being a message board and all it's sometimes hard to sense sarcasm. Did you really not know Pizza Oom Mow Mow was gone (since 2010)? And if so, how could you have such strong feelings about this place? Please disregard if you were just trying to be funny.

Kind of a sloppy illustration. Apparently the mirrored rim around the Fun Wheel will now be 3 storeys tall.

If that is accurate, the wall around the base of the fun wheel is a weird choice and will majorly mess with the awesome reflections the wheel currently has on the water at night. Bummer!

Will Pixar Pier open when Pixar fest starts? Or will it be more towards summer? Paradise pier closes january and looking at the artwork january through april should be more than enough time to do it right?

Hmmm, the WoC projection boxes are missing from the concept art. I also noticed a fully enclosed final brake run on the coaster, maybe for a show scene (ala Old Hag AA in 7 Dwarves Mine Train).

The right helix spinner looks just like Flick's flyers with a giant wall around it. There is a entrance on the left helix to nowhere. It must be for the other Dash spinner ride.

It would be I intwresting to understand what people were expecting from this. Looks to me like this is a placemaking for an area of the park that needed it badly. Disney didn’t announce this as more than that and we all knew that the new attraction would eb a spinner for a small footprint that has Gomez vacant for too long.
The brightly painted buildings and then removal of the plan stucco walls seems like a step in the right direction from what is there.

The covered screen tubes seem like could be used to add some interestingness effects that if done with projections could in theory be changed seasonally for the Holidays.

I’m sure that the new paint, and beautification of Thebes coaster and buildings will also fix the issues with bad lighting mechanism and will most likely be replaced with LED lighting that should give the Pier a whole new level of lighting at night.

Overall a nice placemking that will improve and add to what was there.

Huge plusses I see if done are the enclosure and retheming or Ariels Grotto. Last time I ate there the food was good but the outside seating area didn’t quite fit the price level of the food. If they integrate the inside eating area with the outside and make it one large room it would give the eatery a much more appealing feel. Also since it might be enclosed hopefully they allow reservations later in the evening.

The one thing that is really missing in this idea and had been considered in older ideas is the lack of shade and greenery along the wrapped boardwalk that leads from Screamin to cove bar. They really should consider a permanent shade structure for the ice cream cone shop queue. During the summer it is one of the worst queue to wait in just to get an ice cream. The temporary umbrellas look tacky and are a safety hazard as people trip on their bases.

Shade and seating areas are still an issue the park has in several parts of the park. worst being the parade corridor on the south side between Carsland and Pacific wharf. A few trees along the fencing near the waters edge would make a huge difference. Second worst place is that Paradise bay bridge area.

I have to say that I also like the look of the load area for Screamin. To bad they didn’t expand the building north so that the track before the bridge was also enclosed. That section before the bridge and under the bridge would have been a perfect place for a show scene before the launch. Even the full launch could have been enclosed and used to add lighting and projections creating a whole new experience.

Unfortunately, I doubt it.

They are already saying that Cove Bar will be reopening in April (I am assuming for Easter?) before "closing again for its permanent transformation" - so, it will not be reopening for April 13th - so unless they open everything else apart from Cove Bar, it is looking like it will be heading towards summer...

...which is a shame, as this now means that this looks like it will be confirming that two/three rides (depending how you classify the wheel) and a food location that we wanted to go to on our first trip next year looks like they will be closed, although surely it can't take months and months to cover 24 gondolas? Unless, of course, they are wanting to reopen everything together, although they can't be putting walls on either side of Pixar Pier as Toy Story Midway Mania looks to still be open in January...

Yeah, I’ll be there also in late april and then not for a few years. So I hoped it would be open. Guess we’ll see..

Holy overreactions. So many accusations of Six Flags-theming and the worst thing they've ever seen in Disney parks, when it's literally just a change of colors and a few implementations. Six Flags would be amazed to have something of this caliber. Looks like we're going to keep following the Disney cycle of non-stop complaining until the project actually opens and it turns out it's pretty good.
