News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

I dunno, does DLR really need a pony trek ride? While I agree it'd probably be more fun than Emotional Balloon Adventures, it'd take up too much space. At least Whirlwind has a small footprint.
Wind it around through a backstage themed dark section. Oh, and I guess the animals should be bears and it can be a "Brave" ride. :D

Relatively inexpensive rides that would have been a thousand times more fun than Emotional Whirlwind:

Legoland has one of those. Looks fun.

I wish Disney would stop trying to force fit Toy Story into the castle parks. But with how Disney tries to make Woody the mascot of Frontierland, I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney overlays Tom Sawyer Island into Toy Story Island, using some random Sam McKim concept art as a justification.

Woody on Tom Sawyer Island is better than Pirates of the Caribbean there.

That Inside Out spinner should be open a month or six weeks from now, just in time for D23 Expo.

I will be absolutely fascinated to see if Bob Chapek even mentions Pixar Pier in his little stage show presentation.

If Mr. Chapek does mention Pixar Pier publicly, I can't wait to hear how his Communications team frames that paragraph up for him. o_O

I don't expect to hear anything about past projects like Pixar Tear....er, Pier at the upcoming D23 Expo.
That's so 2015 now at this point....and probably considered 'old news'.
The less said about Pixar branded stuff, the better.
With Lasseter now out of the picture, I would think they would rather focus on other topics.
Who really wants to be reminded of that embarrassingly bad presentation John did last time around, lit like a bulb at Luna Park...?
:/

This year, Chapek and Iger will be hyping Marvel projects coming to the Parks on both coasts.
DCA will be spotlighted, and they will showcase what they have ready to reveal.
Marvel related projects are going to be one of the main talking points.
Gaurentee it.
That will be the big push in the presentation, along with some splashy concept art flashed on the big screens.

I expect to also see some talk and imagery related to the major projects taking place at the Florida property, EPCOT ( yet more Marvel hype....zzzzz...) and DHS development (s).
I also would assume they will touch base on the WDW 'Star Wars' branded experiences including the themed Resort hotel.

We shall see.....

Yah I think it’s going to be WDWcentric again.
They seem to have made a shift that most all of the marketing and push goes into WDW and the international parks.
They will have a small section on DCA but I’m guessing they don’t even talk about Marvel Phase 2 for DCA, which is the most interesting part.
Frankly how they’ve thrown in the towel on DLR is depressing. I’m not sure if theyve given up on pleasing the impossible to please or just finally feel like dealing with California politics isn’t worth it anymore.

They’ve given up on continuing to do what made me happy.

Oh, you're right. Referencing a project hyped at the last Expo by a drunk and now-disgraced John Lassetter, a hero in 2017 but persona non grata in 2019, probably isn't a good marketing strategy for Mr. Chapek. It's just that Mr. Chapek is so boring and lifeless up on that stage though, I wonder maybe if they can get a talking Mickey head out there with him or something instead of a drunk creative exec to liven things up a bit during Mr. Chapek's little show?

"I greuh uhp in Whhittyearcahlifohhrniaaah!" :hungover:

Still, if Pixar Pier does get a mention from Mr. Chapek, it will be wonderfully entertaining to see how it's all scripted for him by his cubicle farm puppet masters in the Communications department. ;)

Eh, I'm not so sure. I can be as critical of California loony-lefty politics as the next California taxpayer, but all politics are local and the story of political tension between Disneyland and the City of Anaheim (the issue was at the local city level, nothing to do with the state) is a tale from 2016 to 2018. The old mayor is gone, a new mayor and City Council majority is now in power, and the old Disneyland President Michael Colglazier is also gone.

The local movers and shakers I've had cocktails with have said that Mr. Colglazier's holier-than-thou "Did I mention I went to Harvard Business School?" attitude looking down his nose at the working class local yokels of Anaheim was as much to blame for the political mess as the grumpy mid-life crisis Mayor Tait was. It was just two men, a boring snob and a hopeless grump, who shouldn't have been trying to coordinate mega-million dollar deals with each other.

Luckily that era is over. Mayor Sidhu is a very different person than Mayor Tait. And Josh Damaro appears to be a very different person than Michael Colglazier. Mr. Damaro is said to be likable, friendly, genuine, egalitarian, and doesn't have a weird obsession with proving he's the smartest guy in the room at every opportunity (although he's a very smart guy).

Later this summer we can start a "D23 Expo Prediction!" thread. But I'd imagine there are quite a few neat little things in the pipeline for Anaheim. After all, this is the same theme park division of the same company that is expanding their theme parks in Communist China and Socialist France, with all the labor and political issues those two countries represent.

Lefty-loony California isn't as business friendly as Idaho or Wyoming, but compared to Communist China or France it's a walk in the park. And again, those political issues of 2016-18 were at the local level, not the state level. Disneyland will not just survive, it will continue to thrive.
