News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

This might have already been discussed, but in the preshow video....the family is asked about the coaster name and Violet says "sure, slap our names on an old ride" to which Edna Mode responds with "quite normal darling, corporations call it synergy". Love when they call themselves out!

It's the Imagineers who write the script. The Imagineers are embarrassed about Pixar Pier and think this corporate synergy is bull, so they do stuff like that.

They also did something like that for Mission: $heapout where Rocket says in one of the ride paths "Disneyland? That's thematically inconsistent"

I really hope we get a clone of the Peter Pan ride Tokyo is getting. As long as it's not primarily screens, having it be part of a small Neverland section to the east of "it's a small world" with a new Chicken of the Sea would be incredible.
I heard the upcoming Peter Pan ride will be unique to Tokyo.

Ah my bad. I could've sworn it was in front of the Incredicoaster launch.

Between this and "Disneyland? That's thematically inconsistent," I get the feeling the Imagineers are unhappy. Or they're stupid and think insulting their own brand is good for Disney. I prefer the former.
There’s precedent for this even before GOTG. Tiki Room Under New Management, Alien Encounter, and Journey Into Imagination With Figment all featured pretty cynical and self-aware plots. Usually it’s indicative of a troubled project.

Pixar Pier makes Dino-Rama look like Tokyo Disney Sea.
This might be the worst overlay I’ve seen in a Disney park. After all the hype, WDI gave us static figures breathlessly screaming alongside an unrelated track. It feels like Six Flags fiberglass props, or something old Universal would do—the exact sort of cheap “theming” Universal is now trying to avoid.

I almost feel bad for the WDI team that worked on Pixar Pier. I can’t imagine their being thrilled with this assignment, because they have the thankless task of applying Pixar theming over Disney/Victorian theming without actually improving anything.

I hope you guys get the chance to check out the Pixar Promenade area as well as the Lamplight Lounge. I know the rest of Pixar Pier is a let down, but these two areas are really nice upgrades. And I think the coaster will be a much better experience at nighttime. Luckily WOC is down for a few more months.... lol.

HOLD ON. "Classic seaside roller-coaster renamed to "honor The Incredibles." I know that the "theme" of The Incredicoaster is literally a roller-coaster themed to the Incredibles, but is the theme that The Incredicoaster IS LITERALLY CALIFORNIA SCREAMIN' WITH AN INCREDIBLES OVERLAY!? Now that's Incredible!
And on top of that, since there's an "vintage" photo of an under-construction Paradise Pier in the former Cove Bar, is the theme of Pixar Pier that it is literally just Paradise Pier that was bought out and given an IP infusion?! It's so meta, I can't stand it!

My favorite is at 2:29 Violet says “Sure, slap our names on an old ride 🙄
At least they’re up front about what this retheme really is?

They totally should have renamed the whole thing Parradise Pier. As in, Parradise Pier, because they're the Parr family. That would make the word "paradise" sound super foreign and romantic, and would make the Incredicoaster premise work better too. Missed opportunity.

Incredibles 2 has just broken all box office records for an animated film's opening weekend. http://money.cnn.com/2018/06/17/media/incredibles-2-box-office/index.html

So why the HECK can't a big company like Disney open their new Incredibles 2 roller coaster E Ticket the same weekend the movie opens in theaters? And why wasn't there a a wacky featurette from WDI and Pixar before the movie showing the creation of the Incredibles 2 roller coaster at Disneyland Resort and how everyone in that theater should be planning a trip to Anaheim after the movie to ride the Incredicoaster???

I swear, Disney likes to pretend that they are the masters at synergy and planning and marketing. And yet they drop the ball (Pixar Ball) big time continually. Disney's movie divisions don't seem to know the phone extension to the theme park division. And no one in Burbank seems to know how to market the theme parks successfully with their mega-hit movies. It's all so ham-fisted and lazy and ignorant.

Pixar Pier and Incredicoaster needed to open last Friday the same day the movie opened, and all weekend long while multiplexes around the country were packed with rabid Incredibles fans there should have been a silly yet interesting "Making of Incredicoaster" featurette before the movie that served as a soft sell advertisement for Disneyland Resort. And also show the cool new Incredibles float that also should have debuted in Paint The Night last Friday.

And I'm an old guy without a Masters Degree in Marketing or hipster eyeglasses who thought of all that in 10 seconds sitting in my den.

The folks running Disney's marketing group are idiots. And the folks running the theme park operations and project management groups are also not smart. It kind of makes you worry how they are going to handle the Star Wars Land opening, doesn't it?

I agree but I’m sure there is a logic for not opening the coaster in same weekend.

If anything it should have opened a week before to help engrave the movie more in people’s minds.

The only reason why I would not open on same day would be so that people don’t have to pick between an Incredibles movie or Incredibles ride on same day or weekend. Instead you keep momentum going by advertising it a week and more later to keep box office up
