News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

I'm visiting England, France, Spain, Germany, and Italy this summer. Besides my trip in 2 days and a mini-trip to Disneyland Paris this summer, I have no intentions of visiting a Disney Resort until the 50th anniversary of WDW. Disneyland is turning into IP crab and Disney World is half under construction. It's just not enjoyable. I might consider a minor WDW trip in 2019 for Star Wars, but other than that, I think if I have 10k to spend on a vacation, I'm going to go spend a month traveling the world or go on a cruise rather than a week at Disney.
Aren't you going to Disneyland soon?

The only problem is, so long as Iger is at the helm and the IP bandwagon is in full force, I fear that day might never come :(

The IP bandwagon will continue to lead for TWDCo no matter who the CEO is. The Board will make sure of it. Besides, what else can they lead with? The company's value today is pretty much based on the content it owns.

I just wish they wouldn't be so afraid to lead with their own created content. Not everything needs to be Pixar, SW or Marvel.

TWDCo will be 100 years old in 6 years. I wish some fresh little start up would come along, similar to what the Disney Studio was when it began, to become the Disney for the new millenium. The problem is that a creative boutique entertainment company born today would soon be gobbled up by.... Disney.

By the way, I really admire your resolve to boycott Disney parks by taking one trip to Disneyland in the spring, one trip to Disneyland Paris in the summer, and one potential trip to WDW next year! ;)

What, exactly, is the difference? With some exception to people in the animation dept, it's not like every movie/show Disney releases is made by the same team of people. They're all making a living working for multiple studios with no loyalty or allegiance to any one in particular. Movies are pitched, acquired, licensed, yadda yadda yadda. At least with Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Marvel you could make the argument that there is a real sense of loyalty and stable creative team overseeing the product.

Those are three studios/brands that Disney felt were in line with their company ethos, so they acquired them just like they would any other content they wanted to put out there. It's all Disney now, what really is the difference?

I'd like to lay some blame at the feet of Team Disney Anaheim, who ask for this kind of junk from WDI and P+R and go along with the transparent profit motive garbage that includes cutting things from already silly overlay projects just to make the opening weekend of a film that everybody will forget a month later, leaving the parks with tattoos that scream "DESPERATE" left and right.
