Concept art is nice, but did they really have plop Luxo Lamp atop the marquee? Subtle storytelling is no longer a thing at WDI apparently.

This is the first piece of art that actually looks like an upgrade in quality.

Well, as far as I can tell, it's the only time the lamp will be making an appearance in the land. Just like you see the lamp before a Pixar movie, you see the lamp before you enter.I agree. Didn’t notice the lamp until after. Unnecessary.

It upholds the Victorian look of the land which is why I'm digging it as well as the concept art for what's replacing the shops. In either case, though, I'm still not a fan of it being Pixar based.I’m surprised some of you are actually liking the artwork
I don’t feel like it adds anything aesthetically.
@Shiiggydiigg Maybe we're supposed to be entering a Pixar version of a seaside amusement park in some alternate cartoon universe?
Especially for a California seaside pier. The more I think about it the more rediculous it is. I'm happy to see additions and improvements being made, but very little about this project"s storytelling makes sense to me.
That makes sense for thematic synergy. I mean it doesn’t really bother me. Still really like the marquee. It’s just when I noticed it after I said “oh the lamp.” I don’t feel like it adds anything aesthetically.
If the Luxo lamp is an AA that would be cool.
Especially if functions as an actual lamp at night. That would certainly make me like it more.

I could see that. With an actual light beam looking over the incoming crowds, it could be a sweet little detail. I would still want it to be a bit better integrated though.
This is a really good point. It would be like if they put a big ol Pirate sitting on the bridge next to the POTC marquee.
If Jessie has taught us anything, it's that if we get one giant pirate outside POTC in DL, Disney will buy the economy Costco pack, and every other park will be getting a giant pirate figure too.
