I'm patiently waiting to see exactly what kind of crazy backstory they concoct to explain this place. At least with Toy Story Land it's easy to understand what it's supposed to represent without much explaination. This on the other hand....

One might also say that bad design is simply bad design. Even disregarding the phallic interpretation... It's just stupid, awkward, and looks like the logo for Kingdom Hearts II.

But, but... that arch. Why is it there? Which begs the question how did The Incredibles end up setting up shop (or living?) at an amusement pier? Undoubtedly Disney will come up with some kind story for Pixar Pier and its "neighborhoods", but for now it's impossible for me to tell what the story is from the pictures.

Why don’t I remember that arch, is that new? It’s funny that at DL they are trying to widen walkways everywhere and here they narrowed the walkway between the carrousel and Screamin if I’m not mistaken.

That's a whole other discussion. The fact the some in the Disney fanbase go straight to the phallic interpretation is pretty weak.

I like the way the new arch is simultaneously mid-century LAX Theme building-like and Elastigirl'ish. Kind of neat.

Perhaps. I'm struggling to understand how that's possible though with Pixar characters existing in "neighborhoods". Maybe I'm over-thinking it, but from what I've seen in the concept art the Pixar + pier and supporting storytelling (theming) is confusing me.

I'm totally willing to give WDI a chance to explain the design choices and read first-hand impressions from visitors before passing final judgement, but boy do I have questions in the meantime.

The bored couple are for some reason in two places at one, in front of the arch and in front of the waterfall. Perhaps that is why they are bored, lightly themed amusement piers are nothing when you can project your body into multiple locations.
