News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

I think the carousel roof still looks like a stretched canopy like the current one. Just a new one with a new design scheme. The structure is repainted. Jessie is added. Sea animals replaced with horses. New name is woodys round up. Done. New theme for the carousel. More bland and more like the DL version. I assume the Fontains Along the edge will be removed and the awkward incredibles waterfall added ( not sure how that will look from the backside. So many flaws with this garbage.
It's almost like they aren't doing these changes to better the parks, add capacity, or innovate, but for some other ulterior motive.

The problem is that a spinning top would also fit a carousel and this "upgrade" is basically a paint job, some signs, moving around existing attractions, and some minor overlay stuff. It could be something new but it seems more in keeping with Pixar Pier to be just more superficial change like the rest of the project.

First guess: it's still a carousel.

Although if not, I want a Jessie Tilt-A-Whirl. It would fit in fine with the rest of the off-the-rack rides.

EDIT:
After looking at the concept art I've discovered another possible change:

Incredicoaster is actually a boat ride!

My thoughts on the change from the carousel to something else is the fact that the ride is now almost completely enclosed. They are building walls all around it. I've never seen a carousel enclosed like that. You see other spin type rides like that though.

once standing, how much will conversions will feel converted?
no matter how much is money is saved, it's yet another risk with a direction like this, and something not easily addressed by the mere dressing of props, however large.

wise to reserve full judgment til walk-through, of course, but serviceable didn't suffice almost eighteen years ago and won't now either.

I loved the spinning wooden disk as a kid. My home park, Belmont Park in San Diego had a very good fun house, and the disk was an optional thing at the end. Basically a round large wooden disk with many coats of Polyurethane on it. As you can see in the video, you sit in the middle and try to stay on as long as possible (No ropes or balls though). They had larger mats similar to what gymnasts use to end up in. But it was great! Too bad they can't have attractions like that any more in California.

Did someone already mention how Jack-Jack is being babysat in a home literally right next to a boardwalk coaster?

Attempting to use any logic here is futile because Disney's not doing the same. How does this giant Jesse statue make sense regardless of the ride inside? It's part of their flawed idea that more stuff translates to more detail or story. And since they're installing three giant Jesse statues in three different parks this year (!), I'm sure they got some kind of a discount. Buy two Jesse statues, get one half-off!
How did anyone get the idea Pixar Pier is supposed to be a Toy Story Land lateral makeover? It’s not. It’s a theming makeover from California generic pier to Pixar.

Maybe is it just me But I think that Disney is Pushing too Much Pixar all over the world, I get that Disney has a lot of IP’s, But Parks has more Pixar Properties throughout the parks and other properties, and I feel like Other Disney content aren’t getting the much Push That they deserved. There are some Classics Like Fantasia,Hercules and so on that needs some more recognition that it needs.

The Santa Cruz Boardwalk has an enclosed carousel (with a functioning reach-out-and-grab-the-ring game!), but it's designed with wide views to the outside on two of its four walls. If DCA's will be more enclosed than that, they could spice up the ride with projections-- Like Willy Wonka's freak-out boat tunnel.

As a kid, I got to experience the Fun House at San Francisco's long-gone Playland. It had a great spinning disc that really packed a punch. My aunt (when *she* was a kid) fractured a shoulder on it-- and in those days nobody sued for those kind of "implied risk" injuries. It also had a very long "barrel o' fun" rotating fast enough to pulverize anyone who didn't follow the rule (face left) for getting safely through! :D

Beautiful pic, but how dramatically different will that view be when the transformation is done? Im not expecting much of a change.

I don’t think we ll see much of a change at night unless they change the lighting package dramatically, which I doubt. During the day I think it’ll mostly minor differences. I think 2 of the most noticeable differences will be the scream tubes are changing colors and I think they may be removing the sun behind Mickey on the Fun Wheel. Not sure why the latter is necessary though.

They're removing Mickey's facet from the fun wheel aren't they?
