News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

Yea the Retheming of Screamin to Incredibles is the worst thing to come from Pixar Pier. You re right, what the heck does a “wooden roller” coaster have to do with the Incredibles? Of course we can rationalize ways to make it make sense. But these latest moves aren’t Disney telling us a story anymore in the best way possible. I will say that I like the design of the queue as well as the space between it and the carrousel but back to your point, hopefully this onslaught of ovelraying rides comes to a swift end. Not because the incredicoaster won’t be fun, not because the land will be any less fun but because the quality of the story as a whole keeps getting downgraded. It’s like when I walk into TOTs lobby and see how they redressed it as the Collectors museum. The Space was created to be a lobby and the new theme just doesn’t work in there. It would be like walking into a museum and the items on display are literally in your face as you cross the footing. There isn’t the required space to create the proper atmosphere for that theme.
I think at this point DCA should just be renamed Disney's #ThemePark. And who's the genius that decided to name the big candy store after a character who died tragically? Is it because he cried candy??? Are we supposed to be purchasing the dead hero's tears???
(EDIT) While they're at it, they should open a Venison restaurant called Bambi's Mom.

LOL

Although, in their defense, even in the movie, Bing Bong encourages Joy to taste his tear-candy.

LOL.

Or Disneys “Theme” Park. Or Disney’s Acquisition Park.

I just find it weird that the story and the actual coaster are almost completely unrelated.
But.. it’s a roller coaster? Does that mean a ride with tracks (like a dark ride) can’t have a theme. Everyone complains about stuff being plain and boring but this only adding a story to a ride, making the new screamin interesting in my opinion. Screamin really never had a story, but now it does.

All of you are so negative:(:(:(:(

Is it the end of the world? No.
It’s just hard to argue that story/theme aren’t continuously being downgraded at DCA. As weak as that theme was. This is a lateral move in terms of guest experience when you factor in the aesthetic upgrades. I just wish we could have both theme/ story and aesthetics at the same time- you know like they used to do all the time. Seems like it’s much easier to get cosmetic upgrades approved if there is an IP attached- whether it belongs or not.

As a human being, I’m excited to see what they do with Pixar Pier for the fact that it’s something new and it looks like it’ll be a nice aesthetic upgrade. As a Disney parks fan, I hate to see them forget about what made them so special and the industry leaders they are today.

I think a lot of DCAs issues stem from the snowball effect from the abysmal DCA 1.0 and how they have continued to try to fix with quick patch jobs with no long term planning/ vision combined with the fact Disney is a rapidly growing company that is acquiring major new content that they “need” to put in our two landlocked parks at DLR where real estate is hard to come by.

The ride system and the story of most disney coasters correlate though. BTM and EE are trains, SM is a rocket, RNR is a limo. All of these relate to the actual setting. With the incredicoaster the story doesn't really have anything to do with the pier and the cars are just the same CS ones with the incredibles logo slapped on. CS never really needed a theme to me anyways. Its a (fake) wooden coaster on a pier all your really need to know about it is right in front of you. So I feel like if your going to add onto that it should still somewhat relate.

Hey, we all love it when Disney creates something wonderful. When something less than wonderful happens, we can be critical--Doesn't mean we're not still fans. And this is an internet forum where we can voice our perplexed frustration when weird decisions are made. It's better than crying candy tears. Speaking of which; I'm serious about this (inappropriate use of great films is one of my pet peeves): Let's talk a moment about Bing Bong's Confectionery. He's dead. It's one of the saddest scenes in any Disney or Pixar film ever. The whole point was that he was--on the surface-- a happy, silly-looking character who turned out to be deeply torn-up inside with loss and ended up sacrificing his life to save someone he loves. One of his trademarks was that he cried candy tears. Some bonehead at Disney thought "Hey--Candy tears=Candy Store! Ka-Ching!" Here's the thing: Every kid who visits DCA (and many, many adult fans of Inside Out) knows what happened to Bing Bong. They're gonna realize this is a cynical, greedy, inappropriate use of the character.

It cheapens Inside Out. It's a slap in the face to everyone who actually cares about the great stuff Disney's created. This really isn't too far from a "Bambi's Mom" venison take-out or "Ol' Yeller" dog treats.

Okay, now I'll say something positive: I like the idea of enclosing the scream tubes on the coaster.

It looks, well, INCREDIBLE! I love the characters they are adding into the extend tube, and it seems from the video Edna mode will be in the ride as an animatronic, perhaps.

I love Screamin, but growing up going to the Santa Cruz boardwalk I never bought the "its themed to be wooden" idea... feels and sounds nothing like a true, old wooden coaster.
