I think another reason they decided to create a new world and reality for star wars land is because if they had focused on the originally trilogy then they would have had limited ability for future changes without the fan based being upset about the storyline of the franchise.
By creating a new world, the land can evolve and add to include any of the movies in the franchise as needed

If the ONLY reason SWL is being built is to promote the new movies, that is soulless and greedy.

You assume its the only reason. There are many reasons why including creatively its more limited to use the original trilogy. When you create a new planet, as they have, they have more creative flexibility.

Oh, by no means do I have a problem with them creating a new world. I'm thrilled they did, actually, as having it just be set on Tattooine or Hoth or Endor would be rather dull. What I'm saying is that the Stormtroopers in the land should be the OT designs instead of the new ones. It should be Darth Vader in the land instead of Kylo Ren. It should be the classic X-Wings and the classic Falcon. Rebels vs Empire instead of Resistance vs First Order. etc. etc. Same planet that they're designing now, just a different time period. We already know from the initial concept art it was considered, and seemed to be the plan, for it to be the Original Trilogy so I guess knowing that makes me upset that it won't be in that time frame.

As far as I'm aware they just wanted the similar look and feel from Ralph McQuarrie, but not actually be from the OT era. Again as far as I'm aware at no time did they consider to use the OT era, it was always designed to be NT.

The company will keep getting bigger... but it won't really be "Disney" in anything except name.

Yep. It's going to be tough to wrap my head around. To say you're a true Disney fan a few years from now will have a completely different meaning than it did just a few years ago. As you said things were basically headed in this direction, but it's progressing much faster than expected.

On a side note today's news makes me even more grateful that Diane Disney established the Disney Family Museum. It's the only physical space there is dedicated to showcasing Walt Disney's body of work.

At least they’re making characters? Will they have any movement?

I think on one of the images I saw an enclosed portion of track at the end of the ride. Maybe some AAs and a real show scene? Not holding my breath though. In the description above they say a “combination of CHARACTER FIGURES...”

Nice to see the hirees from Six Flags Creative for the first time. Hopefully the pier, and this ride, will embody the thematic discontinuities prevalent throughout that chain of parks. For example, a boardwalk rollercoaster that, instead of embracing it's own simple story, makes an inevitably poor attempt at telling a linear story that's unrelated to the structure of the ride itself. Never mind the confused architecture and theme.

I could go on, but this is so un-Disney and so Six-Flags-like, I'm fairly confident the land will speak for itself.

Yea the Retheming of Screamin to Incredibles is the worst thing to come from Pixar Pier. You re right, what the heck does a “wooden roller” coaster have to do with the Incredibles? Of course we can rationalize ways to make it make sense. But these latest moves aren’t Disney telling us a story anymore in the best way possible. I will say that I like the design of the queue as well as the space between it and the carrousel but back to your point, hopefully this onslaught of ovelraying rides comes to a swift end. Not because the incredicoaster won’t be fun, not because the land will be any less fun but because the quality of the story as a whole keeps getting downgraded. It’s like when I walk into TOTs lobby and see how they redressed it as the Collectors museum. The Space was created to be a lobby and the new theme just doesn’t work in there. It would be like walking into a museum and the items on display are literally in your face as you cross the footing. There isn’t the required space to create the proper atmosphere for that theme.

I agree. Although I do think Mission Breakout weakens the overall "story" of the park more than the story of the ride itself.

They're trying to build synergy between movie franchises and theme park attractions, but what they don't realize is that there is also synergy between different theme park attractions. If all of the attractions contribute to the theme, the park as a whole becomes more than the sum of its parts. The company seems blind to this, which is a shame.
