Yeah I agree. I like Paradise Pier by the way. I just don’t feel like we re losing some thematic masterpiece or that it even feels like a CA seaside pier or a pier at all. I like the rides and kinetic energy. It’s a very pleasant place to be at dusk or at night.
I Also like Paradise Pier and joy walking thru it. I do think that they are loosing out on making it even more dramatic and energetic by adding some height to parts of it.
During this Pixar remodel they should have really considered using the large eastern helix to add a tall rotunda that could have been used as a queue/pre-show for the coaster. They have an entrance gate already located just west of the photo booth that could have been used as a new ride entrance.
Guest star could have entered the large circular building whichvat in every point would lead them to a circular ramp that took guests up to a second floor.
This second floor would then one to via a tunnel directly to the existing second floor queue which could have also been enclosed and themed. Guests would then walk down to the load area.
The majority of the existing queue would then not be needed and batear this area could have been used for another themed flat ride. Maybe even relocate the golden zephyr so that it’s themed queue on the bottom floor was also themed to the incredibles.
Having this almost sci go looking zephyr ships spinning around over the walkway would have added and extra energy to the area and also served as a focal point to the corner of the Pier that is now dominated by the ugly dome roof of the convention center.

Seems like WDI has lost the idea of layering attractions and instead just keep a using more and more real estate on anything wether it is a cosmetic thematically element or showrooms.

Midway mania is an example of perfect execution of using parts of the same real estate for two attractions. The coaster tracks on top and the darkride in bottom.

You got me there. I don't know where it starts and stops but I know that sections of the Paradise Pier boardwalk are wooden.

I thought it was just the entrance (if that) through Cove Bar. Noticing the ground I’m walking on is not my forte. I just know the land doesn’t evoke the feeling of being at a pier. Feels more like a Disney carnival.

What? Have you ever been to a carnival?

This is literally what a Disney carnival looks like.

While I do appreciate Dinoland USA's cheesy aesthetic and backstory, it makes Paradise Pier look like a lavish seaside Main Street in comparison.

Haha well by “Disney” Carnival I was implying quality in addition to just Disney characters. Besides, what is a seaside amusement park but a carnival on a pier? IMO they got the Carnival part right but without waves, weathered wood, sand and the smell of ocean air it’s hard to feel like a pier.

I see what you mean. By the way, have you been to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk?

Proud to say I'm one of em :) As a park, DCA is so much worse than what's 100 yards away, I see little reason to spend time there for an experience that's significantly less than Disneyland.

Yep. Same. I went to DCA the first time in 2011 and then the last time in 2014. I wanted to go again in 2016 but I figured I'd be fine skipping it. A month later Tower of Terror was announced to close and I'm still upset I didn't visit that summer.

2 less people in line! Sweet!

Who would have thought more people would be offended by the 21 minute short than Lasetters actions?
I wonder if this negative reaction will cause disney to rethink any frozen related decisions they are thinking of for movies, shorts, theme park attractions, etc.
frozen isn't the golden goose it once was, it's almost as hated as the minions. almost.

I was making more of a commentary on some of the over reactions here that Coco’s #s would be significantly effected by Laseseters actions and not really about Frozen. I think the short was just way too long and not very good. I think even a decent sequel will do very well in the box office. Disney may think twice about ever doing a short longer than 10 minutes again though.

A 20 minute short + trailers amounts to about 30-40 minutes before the feature film starts. That's kind of ridiculous.
