Thank you. Every time a new movie comes out, people start planning where to put a ride based on it. If Disney is insistent on making all new attractions based solely on movies, they should at least keep it within tried and true IP. I don't think one successful movie is enough. And I can almost guarantee that the merchandise from this movie will be in the clearance bins come January. Just like most all other movie merchandise. Some IP just makes a lot more sense to base attractions on. If Coco is still popular in 5-10 years, still driving interest and merchandise sales, then we can talk. Until then, no. Otherwise, the parks will soon start seeming just as tired and unwanted as the junk in those clearance bins.
Dreaming about rides based on a new movie we love... it's just one of those things many forum-posting fans do. Where else can we get it out of our system? :D I think we can all agree that the most important thing is that the movie's theme lends itself to an awesome ride (Mr. Toad, Alice, Peter Pan, Cars, Tron, Roger Rabbit)... and that the ride focus one what's *exciting* about the property and not turn out like Ariel's Non-Adventure (My apologies to Ariel fans) or Pooh's Half-Baked Nothing-Fest.

I still think a neat idea would be a "black box" classic fantasyland-style dark ride that could be (relatively) quickly rethemed to any film that happens to be popular at the time. The exterior could look like a traveling medieval fair booth, similar to the Old Fantasyland style.

Isn't the Black Box thing what Mickey and Mickeys Runaway Railway is in essence?
I guess it could be looked at that way. I haven't been following the development; is it mostly screens? But I'm really talking about changing it out every two years or so.

Mickey's Runaway Railway will have a handful of AA's and will feature an actual track but a lot of the walls will be screens/projections, from what I've heard.

From what has been reported it'll be a combination of physical sets, AA, trackless vehicles, and projection mapping to make the cartoon world look real.

As for a "black box" attraction, I'd be down for that.

Also the story of Coco is set in Mexico itself (which is why the premier was in Mexico not the US) so no real connection to California other than the culture. So if it went in it would move it even farther away from California theming.

There are 3 states with the name California. The state of California in the U.S. Baja California, and Baja California Sur which are in Mexico. California was part of Mexico until the 1846 and if you hadn't noticed half of Southern California cities, streets, etc are of Mexican decent. The two are intertwined.

There is no doubt that California has deep deep deep deep (did I mention deep) ties to Mexico and the Mexican culture, that was never in doubt.

Come on guys, this is not even a debate anymore. If people want to continue to discuss Coco and whether you want it in DCA or the DLR please please please start a new thread.

Got the latest copy of D23 and there was some Pixar Pier concept art that made the area between the Screamin entrance and carrousel look a million times better than now.
what a waste. I don't know what's worse, this or the lack of a new dark ride or thrill ride (incredicoster does not count) in pixar pier.

And you didn't jump through the required hoops and scan the images and post them here for everyone to pick apart for next two weeks? Our friendship is being tested again.

Hard to get a good shot with the lighting in my house and glare but here it is. The one birds eye view was the one all over the internet but I think this is the first time I see the other image. I like the arch, waterfall and landscaping. @DisneyIrishGuy
