Pandora: The World Of Avatar - A Somewhat Letdown?

I don't think Pandora is a disappointment. I would certainly wait until you've experienced it before making such judgements.

It's a visual marvel. Of course, it has unique food, drinks, and merchandise. Flight of Passage is indeed a simulator, and I don't love simulators. But a surprising number of people are calling it their favorite ride, period. That does not read "disappointment."
Na'vi River Journey, the boat ride, is short, and it's gotten mixed reviews, so I could see how that aspect is slightly disappointing. The generic fans are disappointing. But mostly everything has exceeded my expectations. The land and both attractions create an emotional impact.

As a whole, guest feedback does not seem to suggest disappointment.

There's also an Avatar subforum where opinions are already being discussed.

Well, I tell you. Every TV station here in Central Florida has given so much air time to the opening of Pandora! Of course, when it came to the ride ( Banshee), they could not film... not even the queue! They showed a bit of the river ride, and of course the interview with Jon Landau!:eek:As a Florida resident, I am excited to see Pandora, but I'll wait until the "hype" dies down, and then I will judge it for myself some day.;)

I know these new ones were probably hard to program, but remember: in the 1960s Disney made Pirates Of The Caribbean with dozens of animatronics that are still impressive to this day!

There is absolutely no comparison between the animatronics on PotC and this new ride. They're so much different! It's seriously hard to believe that these new animatronics aren't real people.

Those tiger things you see on the screen, they would've been cool animatronics.

Those tiger things are incredible how they are! The projections are incredibly realistic.

Remember how Disney advertised that you would ride on a Banshee in this ride? Well, you kind of don't. Yup. Instead, you get on this weird bike-bench thing with seats similar to the seats on TRON: LightCycle Power Run, sit in a room, and the wall opens up in front of you revealing the screen. Why? Because instead, you're "linked" to an Avatar and simply "feel like" your on a Banshee. There's some movement and I think it can slightly drop, but the vehicles don't even leave the loading area.

Just curious how you'd recommend people actually ride on a Banshee. The weird bike things do their job amazingly! They "breathe" and certainly didn't take anything away from the ride at all. The vehicles didn't need to leave the loading area to make a great attraction. I would much rather have this than a Peter Pan's Flight-esque ride, which seems to be what you're suggesting. I loved it!

So overall, I think Pandora: The World Of Avatar looks neat, but at the same time a bit disappointing.

I think you should probably go for yourself instead of basing this off of some videos you've seen online. I do wish there was more to do, but only because what little there is was so incredible! And this is coming from someone who was extremely skeptical about a land based on Avatar.

So far, a lot of people seem to agree with me for the most part. However there are some who don't agree with me. Now I am perfectly fine with this. I understand why many enjoy it, and more power to you. However, some feel the need to criticize me of sharing my opinion. For starters, I never said I hate Pandora or don't like it. I think it still looks cool and I am excited to go next December.

All I said was that I was disappointed with some parts of it, mainly Na'vi River Journey. Flight Of Passage looks like fun, all I really did was point out some flaws I believe. This always happens to me when it comes to new attractions at any park, it may take me a while to warm up to anything new, really. Also, I said that this probably isn't my final opinion, maybe I'll end up loving the area. Just right now I find many things that could have been done far better.

Na'vi River Journey was disappointing for me as well, but Flight of Passage helped me forget that Na'vi River Journey even existed.

I think a lot of people here don't have a problem with anyone expressing their opinion. What is slightly strange to a lot of us is how people can base an opinion purely on what you see on the interweb. Not knocking your opinion (it's yours and your entitled to it) just saying how some would find it strange.

Thanks for responding and remembering that, as I said, this opinion is just based on what I've seen rather than my actual opinion once I get to ride it.

Isn't your first sentence a judgement? Thought so.

I knew someone would say that, and yes, indeed it is.

But having a very basic positive reaction is different than completely bashing and criticizing something before you've visited. Perhaps you disagree, perhaps I'm being a slight hypocrite, but I think there's a big difference.

Pandora is officially my favorite land in all of DIsney. At least until a month before Toy Story Land opens and then it becomes my new favorite. However I'm pretty sure Star Wars Land will be my favorite land in 2018.
