Q4. Are you replacing Main Street Electrical Parade with anything?
We continue to offer compelling nighttime entertainment, and are constantly adjusting our offerings.
This just says it all. What kind of reponse is, well we are constantly adjusting our offerings, so we may have a parade, we may not.
Well that's something I didn't know and that sounded like a good idea.before Spectro returned in 2001, Walt Disney World was originally tapped to debut Dreamlights but they decided to refurb Spectro instead.
I remember MSEP used to have a Christmas overlay at Disneyland Paris and WDW (1999-2001) but it was mostly Christmas music. Tokyo is the only park that still uses this concept and even had a separate soundtrack that contains it.Omg they overlay it for Christmas? If only
that sounded like a good idea.
That is very true, although I just don't see how the reason MSEP is leaving is cost cutting. This all seems extremely abrupt and like Disney has something planned. What? I don't know, when they first made the announcement I figured nothing would be replacing it, but now after talking on here it doesn't make sense that they'd just randomly end MSEP. Especially since PTN is staying in DL, it would be one thing if PTN would be on its way to MK September 6th, but its not. And why October 9th? LolRemember over in the Muppets thread when so many people were commenting about "finally, some new entertainment that doesn't remove something else"? Yeah, that was pretty funny.
Now, I'm not saying the lack of a night parade is directly due to the costs of the Muppets, it can't be even close. But it sure is amazing how they can always find a way to surpass new levels of madness with the constant cost cutting.
Don't forget the Small World finale where the characters are dressed up in new outfits.they'd probably even MORE minblown by the refurb Dreamlights got last year. The new version of the Peter Pan Ship, O...M...G it is STUNNING and puts the 31 year old version currently in Florida to shame.
If Dreamlights was amazing enough, then I wonder what the next electrical parade at Tokyo would be in the future? But they shipped the Jubilation floats in the US. and Fantillusion in Paris. It is Still a possibility, Since the Tokyo Locals are getting tired of Dreamlights. and they wanted a new parade.
It went to DLP in 1992, and ran until 2003. Not sure what happened after that.Out of curiosity, whatever happened to WDW's version of the MSEP? Was their version of the parade shipped somewhere or destroyed?
Why is it always the good ideas that get wasted by the US parks most of the time?Probably why it didn't happen.
Alot of guests would have had there minds blown by how amazing Dreamlights is. It's one of those parades you really need to see in person even more so during the Christmas season.
From what I understand, Fantillusion was originally 31 floats, it ran for 6 years at TDL, once it was done the floats sat out in the "harsh" conditions of Tokyo, DLP bought the 15 of the 31 floats, but only 13 of them were actually used. The floats which had already been damaged due to weather conditions, where then damaged while in transit from TDL to DLP. The floats were completely refurbished. The remaining floats not purchased by DLP were thought to be destroyed. Fantilusion went dark in 2012 and hasn't returned since, I don't know what the current status of the floats are.I personally would not want Fantillusion at WDW unless it has a major overhaul.
Here's the original version of Fantillusion where it was much longer than it's current location at Paris. From what I understand, Fantillusion was originally 31 floats, it ran for 6 years at TDL, once it was done the floats sat out in the "harsh" conditions of Tokyo, DLP bought the 15 of the 31 floats, but only 13 of them were actually used. Ron Logan created Fantasmic and Fantillusion, the stories were supposed to coincide, that Fantillusion was Fantasmic in parade form.If I remember correctly it as made by the same people behind Spectromagic and Fantasmic.
Its was shipped in hongkong disneyland, it was an original plan to have a nighttime parade in HKDL before PTN was even in the cards. and they scrapped the whole plan and destroyed the float. Instead they made 2 PTN (1 for HK and 1 for Anaheim).Out of curiosity, whatever happened to WDW's version of the MSEP? Was their version of the parade shipped somewhere or destroyed?

After reading about DLP buying Fantilusion from TDL I don't think DL will be trading with TDL.do we switch stuff with tokyo? since disney doesn't officially own it?
Since it looks like it's really happening now, any idea what could have been the catalyst for what is seeming like a very spur of the moment decision?
He was referring to PTN coming to WDW I believe not about MSEP ending. I may be wrong though
