Paint the night is not moving to Disney World. Stop bumping this.

With a new night offering potentially starting in the MK I can see it swing either way. No, at the moment PTN is not coming east.

If the night show is one of two options I can see the parade being used to bolster it. If the show is the other option I can't see it happening.

Our good buddy "click-bait" is at it again. According to Voldemort, since attendance is down, executives are essentially thinking about bringing PTN to MK to spice things up and try to boost attendance. Sounds like the same old song and dance to me
TDO executives can think all they want, in my opinion TDA will never allow the hands of TDO to touch PTN let alone any other parade ever again .

Yes PTN may be coming to wdw after all! Fingers crossed lol
Hopefully if that happens, the numbers from MSEP and RDCT(starting in Feb) will be strong enough to keep the SW pyro idea from blasting it away! TBH, I wouldn't mind SW pyro if it doesn't replace anything. DL Park got a light parade back on 2015, they should keep it. No matter if it's MSEP, PTN or something new. Prob. a little early for that but still.

I saw PTN during the 60th and I found it sterile and not engaging. In my opinion the floats look a lot better on video that in person if you haven't seen it at DL.

Personally I would prefer to wait out until the 50th for an original light parade that can hopefully take some of the PTN technology but place it is a more traditional MSEP/Spectro style parade.

PTN, if it happens, and the new show would not be ready until summer right?

It wouldn't surprise me if there will be very tight rules that TDO would need to follow in order to borrow PTN. And it likely would be very temporary, just for the summer, that WDW would be permitted to keep PTN.

The Main Street Electrical Parade made its third formal debut in Anaheim tonight (1972, 2001, 2017). It's looking reasonably refurbished, but just as hokey and 1970's as always.

Now all this thread needs is the formal announcement that the MSEP will stay at Disneyland past its announced closing date of June 18th and that Paint The Night will be moving to WDW this summer.

As I said in the Disneyland thread, I can't imagine what kids who have been growing up with Paint the Night are thinking right now. WDW can only benifit from this change, but this is an extremely poor decision on Disneyland's part. For a parade has been under refurbishment for a few months, there are still a few floats missing as was the standard for WDW. This only further proves to me that the parade is too old to run nightly. As someone who has seen Paint the Night in person, it's sad to see Disneyland slip to this standard. Let's hope both resorts change for the better going forward.

Let's not forget that TDA gave MESP to TDO twice before. 1999 and 2010.
That was prior to seeing how TDO treated Spectro and then consequently MSEP. After TDA has now seen how TDO takes care of a parade I don't think they'd be as willing to give it to TDO again. Time will tell

Not that it really matters to me but why do we have only one PI Float now? Did it not survive the trip or TDA just didn't want to use the other one?

but its not really giving or loaning is it? I mean I always understood it to be that TDO has to pay to have these shipped here and use it, unless something else is worked out of course....I suppose PTN is better than nothing, the park just isnt the same without a light parade, but PTN just seems so garish to me like a rave party in the middle of the magic kingdom, which doesn't impress me at all.... but guess we will see what happens.

I don't really know the insides and outs of how P&R works, but couldn't those decisions get made at a higher level in the company? If Chapek wants PTN to be sent to WDW, wouldn't that be the final say?

I'm not saying that any parade is getting shipped across the country again, just that it would seem strange to me that the folks running one resort or the other would ultimately be able to make such a call.
