Paint the night is not moving to Disney World. Stop bumping this.

Darn right, we're sick of getting the dirty end of the nighttime entertainment deal!!

Because they don't just "give" a parade from non US parks.

Note how the HKDL parade route skirts the edge of the north east side of the hub. The part to be affected the least.
Do you have any idea how that works?

Disney has done runs of parades at parks they don't fully own. Is it like a rental or because Disney is the primary management company do they receive it for free? I'd also guess that Paint the Night Hong Kong is owned by the Government and Disney; I think it's mentioned in government papers. I'd wager that would take some sort of buyout. Very unlikely.

As an aside Hong Kong's Paint the Night is looking a little tired. It went down in early December, but it needs more attention. Hopefully after the New Years it gets the work it needs.

I still cannot believe that MK does not have a night time light parade. Or one planned.

I can. MK has a capacity problem. Everyone goes to MK and not the other parks. Ideally the other parks would add so many AMAZEBALLS things that people would voluntarily choose to go to the other parks over MK. But since that isn't happening, it doesn't surprise me to see them remove nighttime entertainment and not replace it in order to entice people to go to the parks that do have nighttime entertainment.

I think that's what I love the most about WDW. Not that we get the short end of the stick but that it has the most potential to be the best theme park in the world. So much land and potential that is unfortunately not being taken advantage of. Well... it IS being taken advantage of just not in a good way.

That actually wouldn't surprise me either since they seem to be really trying to push crowds away from MK.

TDO didn't want to lose it, but it's not up to them - it's TDA's parade. TDO should just suck it up and do what every other resort has to do - buy their own freaking parade.

I wonder how that bi-coastal conversation went?! I can just imagine landlord Michael Colglazier going all Scrooge McDuck on George Kalogridis and demanding his parade back, with interest.

I'm forever fascinated by stuff like that. TDA gave up the MSEP almost seven years ago when DCA was undergoing massive construction and expansion and couldn't use their parade route facilities. So it went to WDW, but seven years later that parade is still "owned" by TDA and still on the books for Anaheim? Fascinating.

So Anaheim has two night parades on property now; MSEP about to debut on Friday, and Paint The Night undergoing a big refurbishment in the backstage areas. Just fascinating.

TDO should be embarrassed and ashamed. For a lot of reasons, not just this one.

This is absolutely beautiful. The whole thing looks more dynamic, the lights look a lot better, and the bass drum is just icing on the cake. Why the living heck couldn't this get done for its run at WDW? "Disney's Electrical Parade" looked so forced and corny. THIS is the real deal here!! Can't wait to see "Disneyland Presents" alternate with this classic logo!

It's those details that make all the difference, isn't it? It's another example that Disneyland is... different.

It will be interesting to see and hear this refurbished parade when it debuts at Disneyland this weekend. Although, I have to chuckle as I look at the forecast and see that Southern California is supposed to have a very wet and rainy weekend in this incredible drought-busting winter. It's formal debut may be delayed if its rained out this Friday night.

It's sad that WDW doesn't have a suitable replacement already running (or even planned at this point) since having a daily nighttime parade is an expectation by guests that Disney is failing to meet.

Once the Guest was Disneys customer and frankly things were amazing then And Disney made a lot of money, Then Wall Street became Disneys customer and however much money Disney made it was never ENOUGH.

That parade costs tens of millions of dollars to run per year and eliminating it brings that money straight to the bottom line which pleases Wall Street.

Our role as the Guest is to provide the funding so Disney can serve its only real customer these days Wall Street.
