I think MagicBands are excellent. If Disney waited 5 years to do it, they couldā€™ve saved a billion dollars, but I think doing something like that and getting it right is worth the money.

So how did it work then?

Not sure what heā€™s talking about, I was always able to reserve fastpasses for the top rides in every park.

I visited San Fransokyo yesterday to have a meal and... several of the adult beverages from the food locations. I was the one to hold down the fort at a table we had grabbed while others ventured out into the land to procure our food and beverages. I got to experience the heartbeat of the land... fully immerse myself in the ambiance that Walt Disney Imagineering has created for its guests...

God the music!!!! The massive food court is already a pot of boiling human chaos and adding some fast beat techno pop does nothing to create a pleasant experience. The music loop is definitely the biggest loss from this retheme.

Overall the additions to the area are generic, cheap, and pointless. Those windmills and wires aren't really noticeable unless you look up for them (the land is interesting enough at eye level) but they're ugly. Baymax was out greeting people... noticeably a lot of young adults (not kids) when we were there at 4p.

Upon entering the park and walking it... the sightline reveal of Paradise Pier is absolutely ruined by the bridge. It's worse than I thought. That being said, when you're in the eating area itself, the bridge is large and towers over the area, I kind of like it like that.

The complaints about the bridge being shoddy assembly/construction and crap looking the closer you get are completely warranted. I've seen rides at a weekend carnivals better assembled than this bridge. Irregular gaps, tweaked panelling, missing screws, scratched panelling where the assembler seemingly had to force it together and haphazardly pin it in place to screw it down. An absolute perfect example of modern Disney/Imagineering.

A couple of girls sat next to me and they had gotten the mac and cheese in a bread bowl from Aunt Cass' Cafe. One took a bit and looked at the other proclaiming "Mid?" and the other took a bite responding with a confirming "Mid.". I took pride in having heard someone use 'mid' for the first time.

I wanted something from Aunt Cass' Cafe, but couldn't bring myself to getting soup/curry being the air was already as thick and hot as soup. I got the karaage chicken sandwich from the 'not lucky fortune cookery'. I do not handle spice well and I was really surprised at how spicy the mayonnaise was on the sandwich. That being said, it was a REALLY good sandwich! The spicy mayonnaise was so tasty I used all the 'mid' garlic chip puffs to dip in it and eat it all up. I would gladly get that again.

What is "Mid"??? I take it that it's teenage slang, but what does it mean? Middling? Middle of the road?

Like the girls were communicating to each other that the food was middling or average?

I'm going to dinner with friends tonight, and all of us are as old as the hills and completely out of it. But I like to keep them on their toes, and would love to use this new slang term at the table for comedic effect. Just tell me if "Mid" really does mean something is middling, or mediocre, and I'll take it from here. šŸ¤£

From the grandiose knowledge of the internet-

"Mid" is a slang term that is commonly used on social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok. It's typically used as a prefix to describe something that is average or mediocre."

Do it, declare your appetizer as mid and let the chaos ensue!

Mid means middle of the road, yes, basically. Not great, not good, not bad, not awful. Mid, mediocre, middle of the road.

It means everything that the Disney parks have churned out in the past 15 years. Everything that isnā€™t complete and utter garbage, that is.

Excellent in comparison to what? To stuff thatā€™s come out recently? To all other attractions?

If MMRR is excellent what are POTC and HM? EXCELLENT!!!!!?
Excellent in relative and absolute terms. And why compare it to those animatronic-heavy attractions rather than, say, all the Fantasyland dark rides?

Why not compre it to rides 1/20th its size? Besides those rides do what they set outfit achieve better than MMRR does.

Iā€™m just saying if itā€™s excellent, how do we label other rides in the park that are truly excellent? I think excellent is the wrong word to describe MMRR especially for someone who frequents a disney parks chat room. Itā€™s good, fun / charming at certain moments, great concept etc. But Excellent? I guess I donā€™t throw out the ā€œexcellentā€ label so easily.

I don't think it's fair to imply that I'm easily pleased. Different people have different tastes. Some considered The Great Movie Ride to be excellent, whereas I found it technically impressive but underwhelming as an experience. Some find the Tiki Room baffling and unenjoyable, whereas I adore it.

I'm not looking to change your mind or anyone else's; we're all entitled to our own views. But it should be noted that not everyone agrees that today's Disney is incapable of excellence. It's possible to be a passionate and discerning fan and like some (not to say all) of what they've recently created.

I just think their are probably better adjectives but to each their own. Iā€™m not judging you for liking it. Iā€™m wondering if you even think that ā€œexcellentā€ was the right word when you compare to other attractions at the same park. For example if you had to rank all the attractions at DL into 5 categories - Excellent, Great, Good, Average and Poor putting POTC, HM and MMRR in the excellent category I think would be redundant and a disservice to the rides that are truly excellent. The rating is off like a DL food vlogger who rates the most recent nasty offering with a 3.5 or a 4 out of 5. Really? Just one point is separating that price of crap from Plaza Inn Fried chicken?

I'm perfectly aware of the lexical options available to me and choose my words deliberately and carefully. You're free to disagree, but please don't try to educate me on what terms I should be using.

Iā€™m not trying to educate you. Iā€™m saying youā€™d probably be bad at rating things accurately. Kind of like a DL food vlogger.
