Our Wonderful Wacky Waterparks Weekend!

My husband is finally getting some time off!! So we’ve decided to try to use up some of our Water Parks and More credits on our tickets and visit exclusively Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach for the long upcoming weekend! I am even more excited because I just purchased a waterproof camera case so I can take my camera to more places in the water parks. Soooo, here’s hoping I get lots and lots of fun pictures! Keep in mind that we will also be visiting many resorts, Boardwalk, Downtown Disney and trying a bunch of new places we’ve never eaten at. We’re excited for new adventures outside the 4 main Disney parks! See you next week for the continuation of the report!

EPCOT: Future World

So after we found Nemo and talked turtle with Crush (Dude!!), we headed over to The Land use our FPs for Soarin'.

DSC03212.jpg

DSC03196.jpg

I wonder what the Imagineers could do to make The land less crowded around Soarin'. Seems no matter what time of day due to Soarin's popularity, and with Sunshine Seasons seating arrangement, that little area is always packed...

DSC03201.jpg

Hurray for Fastpass!! This was around 10:45-11:00am
DSC03202.jpg

After Soarin' we usually hit up Living with the Land but it was a 30 minute wait so we skipped it. Also while at The Land, I was able to change our reservations. We were supposed to eat at Boatwright's that night but because we'd decided to go to Epcot instead of Blizzard Beach, I had the hostess cancel that and she got us into San Angel Inn, a restaurant my hubby had been wanting to try.

Anyway, Soarin' was a great ride as always!! Next we went over to Journey into Imagination with our friend Figment and his friend Nigel Channing. We haven't done this one since June 2007

EPCOT: FW continued

DSC03221.jpg

The kids loved the part where Figment flipped his house. The part where the hair blasts on you scared Aaron a bit but overall they really liked it!!

We didn't even consider Honey I Shrunk the Audience, I'm not a big fan, neither is Caleb and the little ones wouldn't like it yet. So we headed over to the east side of Future World. Samuel had been asking all morning to ride Mission:Space. On the way though, I got the family to make a pit stop at Club Cool. A first for us. This was F-U-N and fun-ny!!

DSC03224.jpg

The kids loved trying all of the different sodas from around the world. I like the fruity one from China. I saved the Beverly for last...

Caleb trying the Beverly...notice how at first he likes it and then...

While waiting for them, Aaron and I shared a bucket of popcorn, one of my souvenirs I get every trip. Speaking of which, throughout our trip, I picked up a few new pressed pennies as well :)

DSC03235.jpg

I waited a while, trying to get a monorail passing in front of Spaceship Earth picture but it was too fast for me

It took the boys a while so I took Aaron into Innoventions to check on Kim Possible availability. It is a fun place to explore. A KP Kimmunicator wasn't available for another half hour. Once the boys got done with Mission:Space, we checked wait times for Test Track but it was over an hour. We took a bathroom break and headed to World Showcase.

Wow! He's quite the little photog! Be careful. He might end up springing an SLR camera on his Christmas list like Chandler did this year. :lookaroun:lookaroun And you two are one gorgeous couple! Wowzers!

And OMG! Isn't the Beverly the most fun?! We sampled it at the World of Coke in Atlanta over the summer and video'd each other even tho we knew better. It was still a lot of fun and the footage priceless. Caleb was funny how he looked back at the machine like he couldn't believe that stuff could come from there. And poor Samuel! He has a look like "What the..." I love it! :ROFLOL:

World Showcase

So next we headed to World Showcase by way of Test Track and that walkway.

We went to get a Fastpass for Maelstrom
DSC03240.jpg

We had reservations at San Angel In so we figured we'd hang out in that overall area. First we went to hang with The Three Caballeros

My gosh you take some awesome photos!! ("Right-click/Save, Right-click/Save, Right-click/Save, Right-click/Save, .....") :)

Glad you had an awesome time; loving your pics (we don't get to our home at the Beach Club often enough from here in Canada).

Answer to your Ariel's restaurant question - I believe they use that facility only for weddings :)

Looking forward to more pics!!

This was a fun place to be, to sit and watch the boats go by.

I wasn't crazy hungry and since I knew I wanted to try more Food & Wine samples, I just got the coctel de camarones. It was tiny. A $10 mexican shrimp cocktail. I was not impressed.
DSC03298.jpg

Ben had the Puntas de Filete en Salsa Guajillo, a type of beef tenderloin burritos. They were also only ok.
DSC03299.jpg

We were not impressed with the food there. The kids got kid-servings of quesadillas and chicken fingers which were both exceptible but they were served with non-exciting style of rice and literally diced vegetables...the kind that you find in the frozen food section at your local grocery store. Not impressed.

After our dull lunch, at least we ran into Caballero Donald!! He only had two other families in front of us in line. It lifted our spirits immediately.

We also sat in the American Gardens Theater just to take a break. It is a really nice place to sit. The kids had fun collecting Gynormous leaves. Sister Hazel was getting ready to play...

But we didn't have time to listen, there was beer to be tasted!
Sam Adams Beer Seminar was very different for me and a fun new experience! The woman leading it was so funny and the whole group really got involved and had fun.

DSC03332.jpg

DSC03333.jpg

And now I know that beer is made from hops, barley, yeast and water. I never knew that, and now I feel like Ms. Smarty Pants about beer. (the kids just sat behind us. A nice CM was great and gave us a spot right in the back near where the under-agers had to sit)

DSC03334.jpg

I have to mention that it had been an unseasonable hot day. But once 5-6pm rolled around, some clouds rolled in and brought a nice breeze with them. Ahhh, it was perfect.

Caleb and I are such patriots

I guess my camera battery died at this point because I don't have any more pictures! However our day was far from done!

We crossed over the bridge to United Kingdom and browsed around. Then we headed straight over to Canada where we sampled some Maple Glazed Salmon with Lentil Salad from the Montreal booth-yum! I also tried from the Greece booth some Chicken Souvlaki with Tzatziki(on a pita)-yum also! The last thing we got to try was a Grilled Beef Skewer with Chimichurri and Boniato Puree from the Buenos Aires booth near the entrance to World Showcase.

It was about 7pm and we were all beat and there was no way our kids were going to make it to 9pm for Illuminations so we made our way to the monorail, and then back to our hotel. :snore:

We prepared to go home the next day...but there were surprises in store instead...:animwink:

Abita Beer!!! WooHooo!!!:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy: We lived in Abita Springs, Louisiana for a short time. The brewery is there and as of a couple years ago they still did tours complete with free samples on Saturdays. They also have a brew pub in the middle of town that has some pretty good food. We lived in the general vicinity on the north side of the lake for, gosh, must've been a good 5 to 6 years. Believe me, one gets spoiled to the abundance of good restaurants with rich, flavorful foods. :slurp:

You've never seen the American Adventure show? It's one of my favs. Always makes me cry. I'm oober patriotic, tho. Can't help myself. :)

I've never seen Aladdin's lamp. I didn't know it was there. Hhmmm...gotta go add that to the list of stuff to seek out on the next adventure. Thanks for the tip.

So glad you got to go to Epcot for a day & see the F&W festival. I think it looks like a ton of fun. I'd have a blast sampling all the beer & doing the beer tasting thing you did.

Can't wait for the next installment. I love surprises! :sohappy:

The water parks (specifically Typhoon Lagoon) are one of my favorite things about WDW. Unfortunately, Sarah isn't all that wild about them, so we don't go that often. I think this report helped me get my "fix."

What type of camera are you using with the case? What type of case? I looked at some Canon waterproof cases last summer, but they were a little out of my price range (especially given that I don't yet have a Canon P&S...meaning I'd have to buy that, too).

I'm sorry everyone about my trip report! My pictures will come back in a week or two...because all of my stuff was so popular(thanks everyone!), all of the viewing put me over my bandwidth limit. It has more to do with the viewing of pictures than the storing. I think next trip report I'll switch to Flicker, that one seems to be a hit with most of the great photographers on here.

So anyway, that being said, the trip report will be back soon!

OK, so after a short hiatus, I'm back and ready to finish my trip report! I just went ahead and paid the $2.99 to upgrade.
