:mad:just found out from our travel agent (5 days before we are due to arrive at wdw) that our booking at allstar music wasnt made, and now they cant fit us in as the resort is fully booked. they have offered us sports resort which we really, REALLY dont like, and am not happy about it.
we booked 10 months ago and have had all the confirmations etc, and now they drop this on us. we feel like we are being downgraded, as i know sports isnt as nice as the other value resorts(even the price is less on the wdw website so we know its not as nice)the ta said all the others are full and thats out only option.
really upset to leave it till now, as theres not alot we can do other than cancel, but we have been looking forward to this for nearly a year.
any advise would be gratefully recieved.

WOW!
How could they never have made it?!

I'm sorry this happened to you, but the good news is that at least you can get into ASSports even if it's not your favorite, instead of being shut out all together.

I hope you make the best of your trip despite this.

Sorry that you TA is lousy, but I would go ahead and take what is available even though it's not your first choice & make the best of it. Remember that you are at WDW . I would lodge a complaint with the Travel Agency and let them know that they have lost a customer.

That is very bad service on there part. What if AS Music was full too? If I were you I would ask to get upgraded (at no charge) to a moderate or have a partial refund.

This actually happened to me too (perhaps we used the same TA?). In our case they reserved a standard room instead of a Savannah room at AKL - not a big difference but we paid for an upgrade and we should have got it. Thankfully the great staff at AKL sorted it out within 15 minutes but still, it shouldn't have happened.

If notihng changes and you do end up in ASMusic then just remember that you will still have a great time. Sure, it might not be your first choice of hotel but it's still WDW!

we wanted and booked music but have now been offered sports as its the only resort left with vacancies(wonder why). jetsave was our tour operator, never again.
waiting to see what happens as we will know at 2 weather they can offer us a pop room, if not, not sure whats going to happen but we will push for a upgrade as its so late we cant rebook anywhere.

To me because it was their mistake they should offer and pay for an upgrade. By not doing that they have gaurenteed your bad mouthing them, and in these economic times that's not good business.

As others have said at least you'll be at Disney.

I'll just "fourth" the others! You will be in WDW!

The best thing I can think of is to say open yourself up to
really enjoying what you have! All it takes is one great cast member
or moment to make the trip special.

The thing I would be telling myself is to look for the good things. This is an
expensive and special trip, and making a mental adjustment first is better
than arriving with a chip on your shoulder. (that having been said, my first
reaction would be the same as yours, certainly)

You might explain the situation to Disney, hopefully they can do a little
something for you.

Good luck, and have FUN! :)

Have you ever stayed at Sports?

I hate sports in general, but last trip, my BF wanted to stay at All Star Sports (wow, that could be a vulgar abbreviation) instead of movies or music. Shockingly: I enjoyed it! We stayed in Football, and it was unbelievably close to the food area! The theming was cute and we only really went there to sleep anyway!

Don't let it ruin the trip for you! Clearly, people being incompetent (like your travel agent) is annoying as heck, but it's not worth ruining your trip over. Honestly, I think that the worst day in Disney is better than the best day anywhere else!

How did you pay for your reservation? Wasn't your credit card charged? How did the charge show on your statement?

All of the value resorts have the same pricing, the only difference is between standard and preferred rooms.

I would call Disney directly and see if you can make a new reservation - see what they offer you. If its better than what the TA had, cancel with the TA and deal directly with Disney.

Like many others have already said... I would start by trying to upgrade.

My experience with AS Sports was great when we stayed in the tennis section last May (not a preferred room, not close to food courts, but this wasn't an issue for us). We stayed in a wonderful room that had recently been refurbished... one of the cleanest rooms we've ever had!

At the end of the same trip, we spent one night at AS Movies, where we received a sub-par room that had definitely not been refurbished (hockey section, pool view). There was no comparison... our room at AS Sports was far superior.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is... if you can't get an upgrade or work something out with the TA, then go in with an open mind. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Also, if you had a fully paid reservation, it doesn't mean the TA messed up. Disney does overbook its resorts at times, and usually 5 days before is when they start making room assignments. Its possible the room assigner realized that there was no room for you and contacted the TA to move you to another resort.

If you had to repay for a new reservation, then the TA had never made the initial reservation in the first place.

we paid cash for it, we paid the travel agent who paid the tour operator, who hasnt paid disney for the room.
ive been on the offical disney website and actually sports comes up at about$200 cheaper that the music and movies resorts.
i know we will still have a great time, its disney and i love that, but it just takes alittle of the sparkle off.
its like ordering ablue tshirt and they give you a white one, it will do but its not what you wanted.

Chances are that the only rooms available music and movies are preferred rooms hence the higher cost. If this is a case of your TA our the tour guide messing up I would request the upgrade for free.

Oh man! I would be so highly annoyed right now if I were in your shoes! I totally understand how you feel right now, you want what you paid for. Definitely, Definitely push for an upgrade... That is the least they can do since this is their fault. Keep us updated with what happens. My fingers are crossed for you. Good luck!

I'm so pleased for you that they managed to sort it out. We've been at this time of year a few times (in fact it's 11 years today since we got married at the wedding Pav.). You'll have a fantastic time.

Make sure you bring some disney sunshine back to the UK with you.

I heard that POP is in another county and that is why the price there might be a little different than booking in one of the other values. I can't imagine $200, so I would tend to think that is a preferred room.
