:mad:just found out from our travel agent (5 days before we are due to arrive at wdw) that our booking at allstar music wasnt made, and now they cant fit us in as the resort is fully booked. they have offered us sports resort which we really, REALLY dont like, and am not happy about it.
we booked 10 months ago and have had all the confirmations etc, and now they drop this on us. we feel like we are being downgraded, as i know sports isnt as nice as the other value resorts(even the price is less on the wdw website so we know its not as nice)the ta said all the others are full and thats out only option.
really upset to leave it till now, as theres not alot we can do other than cancel, but we have been looking forward to this for nearly a year.
any advise would be gratefully recieved.

I heard that POP is in another county and that is why the price there might be a little different than booking in one of the other values. I can't imagine $200, so I would tend to think that is a preferred room.

The 3 All-Stars are in a different county than the rest of the Disney resorts.

The All-Stars have a 13% resort tax rate, the rest have a 12.5% tax rate.

thanks for everyones help, seeing me through this little vacation trauma.
im pleased to say that the tour operator has 'had a cancellation' and has managed to rebook us into the music resort! no so sure of the reasons, but any way im happy, we have what we wanted and what we booked. i have confirmed the booking also with disney and they said its there. they also said its hot so bring so sun screen:lookaroun were british we dont do that we just go lobster pink the peel ! lovely! i asked how busy the parks were he said not to bad, starwars weekends and flower festival on, crowds manageable.great im happy again and can start that disney thing now.

So glad things worked out for you! Enjoy your trip and take the CM advice pack the sunscreen, no fun being lobster red and burnt! So glad I only burn once and then tan like crazy!

Yikes -- what a nasty surprise so close to a eagerly anticipated vacation! :brick:

But we have stayed at All Star Sports and it is really a nice resort. The services and amenties at all the value resorts are comparable and you can always visit the other resorts if you choose to. That is one of our favorite things to do, time permitting.

Our room was in Surfs Up and it is close to the main area. The boys in our party especially were in 7th heaven. :ROFLOL: I am a sports fan and I thought the theming was well done - a bit over the top, but that's the point! :)

And I agree, you are "in Disney" and I don't think you will be disappointed. Enjoy your trip!

Sounds to me like the problem was with the tour operator and not necessarily the travel agent.

There's a distinct difference between the two. The key questions are (1) did the travel agent specifically recommend this tour operator, (2) how did the TA advocate for you with the TO when the problem occurred and (3) what was the fine print in the tour operators contract...did they allow you to book a specific value resort or only request.

May be splitting hairs but I believe in laying blame where blame is due.

Sounds like it worked out for you in the end...enjoy your trip!

Many of the UK companies charge more for Movies than Sports and Music. I've heard this many times, but never a difference between Music and Sports. I haven't found out the reason why either other than Movies is the most popular.

In this case it sounds like the tour operator's fault, not yours or the travel agent.

To answer an earlier question, it would show on the credit card statement as a payment to the agent, not Disney. The tour operator in this case is a wholesaler that gets billed from Disney after you stay.

Disney wouldn't have been able to move you until the day of your arrival with you standing at the front desk. The only thing you could have done was cancel and book directly with Disney.

Personally, I would rather be at Music, but a choice between Movies and Sports and I would choose Sports.

Happy Anniversary!! Today is our 14th anniversary! We arrive in just over 3 weeks for our anniversary/birthday celebration trip!

I'm so pleased for you that they managed to sort it out. We've been at this time of year a few times (in fact it's 11 years today since we got married at the wedding Pav.). You'll have a fantastic time.

Make sure you bring some disney sunshine back to the UK with you.

To me because it was their mistake they should offer and pay for an upgrade. By not doing that they have gaurenteed your bad mouthing them, and in these economic times that's not good business.

As others have said at least you'll be at Disney.
I agree. Make them pay the difference and stay at Port Orleans. But make sure they (the travel agency) knows that AS Sports is not an acceptable choice. Give them the option of refunding a portion of your trip or paying for , and put it to them like this, a modest upgrade to a moderate resort. I would be furious also.

I really do not know why people dog the Values. We have stayed at Music and friends have stayed at the others. They are neither filthy or trashed. I have heard more complaints lately on the POLY and PORQ. That their rooms are dirty the maids do not clean well etc. I wouldn't stay at sports unless it was the last resort as I hate sports. Maybe because I have a son-in-law who eats breaths and sleeps it and I don't care for total devotion to sports over family. This is my opinion. But unless people have tried the Values you can't put them down. It's smarter to pay less for the same size of room of the others and spend more on the vacation itself. Shopping, eating, etc

I wasn't talking about you but in the past when anyone ask about the values they start in on them. I really think there has not been one that is perfect according to post on the boards. You can get a bad on in any price range. I think last month someone said they would never go back to AKL that it was their worst stay. So we have to give places a chance and if we are not happy we need to report it to the front desk and get it taken care of.Have a great time i the World and London.

Hope the travel agent gave you back any money you paid for this "service." Plus they should give you some type of voucher for all of your troubles to use at WDW. Hope all goes well.:)

I agree with this person. Even though I had a TA, I checked and double checked and made her crazy with my reservations and probably will continue to verify and double check until we leave on June 13. Not only would I not use that agency again, I would demand some kind of voucher, etc. Unbelievable. The upside is that you will have a room...I can only imagine how much worse this could have been.

Chin up!

No more booking with dodgy travel agents! Kingdom Konsultants, a sponsor of this here message board, is a great Disney travel agency, and I've never had a problem with Pam and her crew (I even remember when there wasn't much of a crew, haha).

Glad you got back into the resort you wanted. I know that I'm always disappointed when the resort I want to stay in is booked. But, either way, once I get there, it doesn't seem to matter as much if I'm at the Polynesian or Wilderness Lodge or Caribbean Beach, I still have a great time.

Do you get anything *extra* by booking with Kingdom Konsulants or just great service (which I also know is VERY important!).

The only time I've ever booked with a travel agent was for our honeymoon and once when we booked with AAA when we needed a room only reservation and they were able to save us some money.

Other than that we just book online or call Disney directly.

If Kingdom Konsulants are that really that great, I'd consider booking with them in the future!

They'll book your dining reservations and such for you, which is nice to not have to deal with yourself. Also, because they're a real travel agency, they may be able to get you booked at a resort that shows no availability for regular folks. Sometimes I'll just book it myself, but sometimes it's just easier to let Pam deal with everything (), especially during busy times like Christmas and Flower & Garden.

How do they book the dining for you? Do you just tell them your dates, time and restaurant you'd like to book and when the 90 days prior happens they book for you so you don't have to keep calling back every day for 11 days like we'd have to? If so, I may consider cancelling my Disney reservation and rebook with them! Do you think that would work? Do you still get the things you'd get by booking online through Disney?

I can answer all your questions for you. Along with great service you also get the peace of mind that you will get the best rates possible without the worry of keeping tack of all the discounts and promotions that Disney runs. Once you book with us we keep track of all that information and if a promotion comes out that you qualify for we rebook you at the new lower rate. We also take care of making your payments for you and we can handle all of your dining reservations as well. That way you are not stuck on the phone for hours with Disney. You tell us where and when and we take care of the rest. We can also become your personal guide to WDW. KK agents eat breath and sleep Disney. Have a question about an attraction, restaurant or show we don't just regurgitate information you read on the Disney site we give information based on personal experience. The best part of the whole thing is that we do it for the low price of nada, zip, nothing.

If you have a trip coming up I highly recommended you give either myself or one of the other agents at KK a shot. You will never book on your own again.

Questions Master Yoda????? IF you don't make any money on anything then how do you stay in business????? Are your rates the very same as booking yourself online????? Or calling a Disney CM???? With the dining I find that that could be a mess. If you can't book the client at the time they want do you keep calling them back and calling the clients as well. Seems really difficult to me. I have never had a bit of problems booking our dining in Dec. I get right on with an operator and get the times I want within 30 minutes or so. I would rather know myself that I can give or take times and not have to be asked by a travel agent if it would work for us. I know I asked KK 2 years ago about their prices and it was higher than what Disney quoted us. IT WAS. And the plane fairs were the highest. I could do better myself thru SW. I am not dissing you just questions that I bet many here would like to know. It just seems that you have to be given discounts thru Disney then charge your customers the rack rate as everyone else. I have never read where they had a better room rate thru any travel agent rather than going thru Disney themselves. Could you explain that to many of us. We just don't get it.
