Trip Report Our "It's 'Disney' real" June 2016 trip

We're back!!:(:( We had a fantastic time with some not so fantastic moments thrown in, but what trip doesn't have those!

For those of you that haven't read my pre-trip report, here is a quick synopsis:
Who: Me (Amy), my husband Brian, and our kids Logan (13), Lily (11), and Owen (8)
What: 10 day trip with free dining
When: June 2-11, 2016
Where: Caribbean Beach resort

Unfortunately, our flight was set to leave from Columbus at 5:30am. We live in Dayton, which is a little over an hour away from Columbus, so my goal was to leave our house by 3am on Thursday, June 2. We made it!!

Everyone was very excited!

We made it to the airport before the security check even opened!:eek: By the time we got our bags checked in to Southwest, we only had to wait a few minutes to get through security.
We were in early boarding group A, so we were on the plane in no time! Still excited!


We got to see the sun coming up once we were in the air.

Then it was time for the night time safari. The only pic I took was of the "sunset".

The animals were active, it was just hard to see them. We did have to wait on the wildebeasts to cross the road in front of us. We did have a really great driver, so that made it more enjoyable since we could hardly see the animals. I'm glad we did it once, but I don't feel like I need to do it again!
We meandered up to the front of the park, stopping to shop along the way. We watched the Tree of Life for a little while, then headed back to CBR.



Overall, we really enjoyed the night time vibe at AK. I really hope they continue to have the park open later!

Awesome pictures at AK! You have pictures of places I don't ever remember seeing. We always seem to rush through the park and miss a lot of the details it has to offer. We're planning one full day at AK on our exit trip (mid day rest break at the hotel ) and spend the evening at AK. Looking forward to the evening vibe.

I'm loving your TR so far!!! I'm only up to the BB day, so I've got some reading to do... Thanks for "keeping it real" with the kids and your husband... We all have our moments, even while on vacation. I appreciate that you included that in your report. It still seems like you and your family are having a marvelous time so far (from what I've read so far). Can't wait to read more!!!

Thanks! I love AK so much, I feel like I could spend days there and still not see all of the little details!

Still throughly enjoying your trip report! Typhoon lagoon seems like you had a blast! I am sorry for all your transportation issues! I also have an ocd type personality so I totally feel your pain! When you plan something you just want t to go as planned! So happy they gave you that fast pass at dinner, gives me hope in the compassion of Disneg CMs, feel like I've been reading a lot of negativity about them recently!!

Thanks! We only had one bad experience with a CM this trip, everyone else was wonderful!!

Friday, June 10
Today was morning EMH at MK. Once again, we waited forever for a bus!

Once we were there, we had to wait in a huge line for bag check. Our screener had some ADD going on that morning! He kept looking over to see what the guy next to him was doing, and when the Welcome Show started, he kept turning all the way around to watch it!:banghead::banghead::banghead: Not like we wanted to get into the park or anything!!

Once we were in, we headed to Peter Pan to see the new queue.

The new queue is cute and I'm glad I had the opportunity to see it, but now that the kids are older, I think this is a ride we will probably be skipping unless they come up with some great upgrades! I just don't feel like it is worth a FP+ and I definitely will not wait in a long line again!

Then we headed to Frontierland, because we wanted to try to ride Splash right at park opening. We didn't quite make it! They must have opened the park early again, which really bothers me on an EMH day!! We still didn't have to wait very long, but it's just the point! I pay to stay on property, so that first WHOLE hour should be for resort guests!




















I wasn't very smart sitting in the middle of our row! I took a face full of water! Oh well, my clothes stayed mostly dry!

I had been hoping to ride Big Thunder as well, but that would have been cutting it too close to our breakfast ADR, so we headed back to BOG.







We sat in the Rose Gallery again, as that was the only place we could find a table big enough for the five of us.

And we waited forever for our food again! I was seriously starting to look for someone to ask about it when it finally showed up! And it was incorrect when it came!:banghead: Brian, Logan, and Lily all ordered Gaston's Feast, but Logan and Lily's showed up without bacon on one and sausage on the other. The CM apologized and thought it had been a special order, and he eventually brought a whole plate full of meat for them.:eek: I ordered the croissant doughnut and Owen had the kids french toast. We all really enjoyed the food once we had it!




We checked out the West Wing before leaving.
