Trip Report Our "It's 'Disney' real" June 2016 trip

We're back!!:(:( We had a fantastic time with some not so fantastic moments thrown in, but what trip doesn't have those!

For those of you that haven't read my pre-trip report, here is a quick synopsis:
Who: Me (Amy), my husband Brian, and our kids Logan (13), Lily (11), and Owen (8)
What: 10 day trip with free dining
When: June 2-11, 2016
Where: Caribbean Beach resort

Unfortunately, our flight was set to leave from Columbus at 5:30am. We live in Dayton, which is a little over an hour away from Columbus, so my goal was to leave our house by 3am on Thursday, June 2. We made it!!

Everyone was very excited!

We made it to the airport before the security check even opened! By the time we got our bags checked in to Southwest, we only had to wait a few minutes to get through security.
We were in early boarding group A, so we were on the plane in no time! Still excited!

We got to see the sun coming up once we were in the air.

I fell waaaaay behind this time!

Loved your BB photopass pics in the wave pool.

Your kids are fantastic at posing. Lily may grow up to take over for Vanna White. ;) :D The superhero poses were great, too.

Lots of terrific photos from around the parks!

I agree with you about the dining, the prices are out of control. We have Tables in Wonderland, and the 20% discount brings it down to merely outrageous for the quality. We love Disney table service, and we still think it's great food, but way, way, too overpriced now.

Dining
We had some really good meals, and we had some not very good meals. I think we are beyond just chalking it up to a bad night for every restaurant. I think Disney really needs to re-evaluate what they are doing with their dining experiences. I know that we will not be doing a lot of sit down meals next time unless we luck into free dining again. The prices are just getting ridiculous!

As always I loved your report! I was slacking on my TR reading and binge read yesterday and today to get caught up! Thank you for sharing the trials and tribulations of dealing with your kiddos on a family vacation! We all go through it and it feels so much better to know we are not alone. My husband has reacted in a manner very similar to Brian in those situations so I feel your pain! I will say that it gets better. My kids are now 20 and16 and they get along very well (I think it is a bit easier because there are only 2 of them so there isn't an odd man or woman out). Both still have pouty moments but they pout silently and don't rain on everyone else's parade as much as they used to.
Your photos were beautiful! You do a fabulous job of capturing details that I might never have seen had I not read your TR.
Hope you and Brian are able to get away and do a couples Disney trip. My hubby and I are hoping to manage a trip like that someday, too.
Thanks for a great read!

Thanks! All three of them tend to be total hams when the camera comes out!
Great report! Loved how you were not shy with the photos, which btw you did a very nice job with. The sunrise shots at CBR were excellent as were many of the photos of your children.
I appreciated the ups and downs you expressed, which go with all family vacations.
Thank you so much! I always worry that people will get bored with all my pictures!

Thanks! There are times when they all get along so well, I just try to hold on to those moments and know there will be a time when they will appreciate that they have each other! I think I may have Brian talked into a quick trip for Flower and Garden in March, but I'm not sure how it will work out with everyone's extra-curricular schedules! Hopefully you'll get your couples trip sooner rather than later!

Beautiful TR. nothing is perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed all your pictures and commentary and of course how you were honest about some not so good things that families go through during any family vacation. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip and it looked like the kids truly did enjoy themselves too! Thanks for sharing.

Fabulous trip report .... absolutely loved all the photos and your personal insight .... I've read it all in one sitting and managed to get absolutely 0 work done this afternoon !

It's making me so excited for my upcoming trip x
Thanks! Sorry I didn't help your productivity today!:D Hope you have a fantastic trip!!

Excellent trip report, I felt as if I were travelling along with you! For the first few pages I kept thinking that you reminded me of someone and I couldn't figure out who, and then it hit me - Penelope Ann Miller, the actress. Back in her Kindergarten Cop days, you look just like her! Adorable family - and yes, all of our kids give us that "why did I spend all this money to come here and listen to you fight" moments. But, we still go back!

Finally all caught up! I felt the same way with not being able to forget some of the "bad" from this trip upon returning home. I think a huge part of it is the summer madness.. I would love the opportunity to go in the Fall or Winter when it's not so crazy. Though I'm sure there would still be negatives, I think being able to slow down would keep my stress at bay and allow for a very enjoyable experience!
