Other resort facilities

Are we allowed to use the resort facilities of a resort we are not staying at? We will be at the CR this fall, but I would love to go and see the refurbised pool at CB resort(and maybe take a dip there.) Just wondering if this is frowned upon or not? Thanks.

You may tour the resorts, shop there and eat there, but you cannot use the pools or gyms in other resorts (DVC members have limited privileges in regards to that).

You are not supposed to use the pool facilities at another resort, but the last time we stayed at WL - I can't tell you how many people come over from FW and use the pool. It is not supposed to be permitted, but people still do it. FYI - you are staying at the All Stars or Port Orleans, you can use pools at the "sister" hotels (i.e. ASM, ASP, ASMov and POFQ and POR).

Guests of other resorts may use the fitness center of any resort for $12 per day, based on availability.

Guests staying at a resort get to use the fitness center at no extra cost.

We stayed at Pop last month and went swimming at the Polynesian after we ate lunch there. Just couldn't get a life jacket because they loaned them out with your room key (funny too, since we could borrow them whenever we wanted at Pop just from a bin...).

I know you aren't supposed to, but we have swam at WL and AK after meals there and never had anyone ask...

I think if you wanted to swim at Caribbean Beach then you should have booked that resort...sorry, but if I spend the money on a resort, I sure don't want everyone else coming and using the pool, just because it looks nicer than the one they have at their resort. It is a clear rule at Disney that you may not "pool hop", but unfortunately they don't enforce it. When we stayed at Beach Club, they did ask for room key identification most of the time, though.

During busy times, the BC/YC has wrist banded guests at the pool after showing their BC/YC room keys, and asking guests from elsewhere to leave.

I've never heard of them checking at other resorts, but you are not supposed to pool hop (except DVC members and their guests - and I beleive BC/YC is excluded to them unless they are at that resort as well).

I have used the facilities at the Grand Floridian on several occasions even though I was not staying there.
They have automatic flushers and towel dispensers.

We were just there to look at the Christmas ginger bread house.

I have been at the WL pool when the FW people were told they could not swim there and were escorted to the boat dock. I have also been at the Poly and have had our room keys checked while we were there.

We have seen people thrown out of the Grand Floridian for not staying there. Resort pools are for there resort guest. Sorry but if your staying at the All-Stars that doesn't entitle you to use the Grand Floridian's pool.

Not old, just vintage.
I have seen people escorted out of the Poly pool several times. Pool hopping is one of those things you just don't do in Disney World. It makes the Mouse angry.

Yes, you are correct. DVC members have pool hopping rights at all DVC property pools except BCV. Stormalong Bay is off limits unless you are staying at the BCV

I've seen pool hoppers escorted out of the pool area at WL by a uniformed security guard. Believe me, they had the attention of everyone in the pool area as they packed up with the guard standing by. Unless you have a high embarrassment threshold, I wouldn't do it.

Aside from the pools, anyone is welcome to use all of the facilities at all of the resorts. You can shop, eat, walk around, rent boats, bikes, etc. The pool is the only thing not available unless you're a guest of that resort.

There are a few exceptions to the no-pool-hopping rule:

  • If you're staying at an All-Star resort, you may use any pool at any of the All-Star resorts.
  • If you're staying at POR or POFQ, you can use the pools at both resorts.
  • If you're a DVC member staying on points, you may use any resort pool on property, except the pools at YC/BC and AKV. There are also blackout periods (in the busy seasons) during which members may not pool hop.

Does the Boardwalk have its own pool, or does it share with the Yacht and Beach Club?

I don't recall seeing a pool at the Boardwalk in April, but I may have missed it. But I'm pretty sure that those three resorts all share a pool in common...just wanted to find out for sure.

The Boardwalk has a fabulous pool, with the biggest water slide of all the resorts.

I'm pretty sure AKL is off-limits as well. I know it used to be, unless it was downgraded.

Poolhopping is one of those topics that sends some people screaming. I know that, for me, as long as I can get in the pool of my resort when I want, I'm not too cranky about people from other resorts jumping in. But I really, truly would NOT recommend planning a day around it. It's one thing if you, say, go to Boardwalk for lunch, and you have bathing suits on under your clothes, the pool's not terribly busy, and hey, let's just take a dip and cool off before we go back to Epcot or whatever. But it's another thing (and I've seen this) to see famlies go spefically to the Poly with their own beach towels and reading materials and sunscreen in hand planning to spend a few hours poolside. Or worse, people going to a resort's pool to hang out by the bar, get liquored up and obnoxious, then head back to THEIR resort for some peace and quiet.

Yeah, I know, pool hopping's a victimless crime and all of that, so is jumping in a pool at the local YMCA if you don't pay membership, but I wouldn't recommend that, either. Iif you're going to do it, don't call unnecessary attention to yourself.

I know this has been a topic many times before but I couldn't contain myself this time. We stay at the YC/BC on most of our trips for two major reasons; the location and the pools. We pay for those privilages............so no it is not OK to pool hop under any circumstances.

Off topic but relates...

Can off property guests have lunch at the one of the resorts? I will be staying in a timeshare in Orlando but want to eat lunch or dinner at several of the resorts? What do I have to do?
