Traverse Town will immerse guests into the wonderful world of Kingdom Hearts as you join Sora, Donald, and Goofy on all types of fun adventures.
The first ride will be an E-ticket entitled "Gummi Ship Adventure" similar to test track where you make your own gummi ship and then once you get on the ride it will test both speed in part one and fire power in a shooter style part two.
The second attraction will be a "Keyblade training class" with Yensid and Mickey who will train guests of all ages (in different time stages) how to be a keyblade master.
The restaurant named Keyblade Cavern will be a sit down table service restaurant with different themed rooms based on different KH levels.
The Item Shop will house all sorts of Kingdom Hearts merchandise including heartless and nobody plushies and Pop Figures.

Bonus: Destiny Island will be a brand new immersive "Beach Side" resort based on the opening island in Kingdom Hearts with little easter eggs around the resort for people who know the game, and a beautiful beachy resort for those who don't.

CHALLENGE 7
CRITIQUES

Before we review the Challenge #7 Proposals, we would like to say how impressed we are with everyone's proposals! They are all really great!

Every single proposal was unique in their own way, but three really stood out to us.

Also, the detail category has been renamed to “The Big Picture” due to the confusion over the “Detail” category and also that name fits what we want more. Also, please note that while those categories have factors in the medals, the main thing we choose is the concept.

Good luck to you all and we cannot wait to see what you all come up with next!

@DisneyFan18 with “Santa Cecilia”
Disneylover152: You sure do love Coco, lol. This is a ton of writing and this proposal is literally really well done. You followed the format with two really fun rides. One spinner and one E-ticket. The spinner sounds like a fun ride for families and using a really fun ride system, including interesting effects like animatronics. Adding animatronics to a spinner is something that sets Disney apart from the rest and brings the guests experience up a notch. I’m really excited about the Coco family coaster, and really tells the story of the movie in a exciting way. It sounds really neat, especially with you exiting in the Land of the Dead. And the Land of the Dead sounds like something really immersive with mexican culture/traditions represented. La Fonda de Elena was a fun restaurant from a previous submission and Santa Cecilia seems like a fun experience for everyone! Great work!

DisneyForever: Wow! There is a ton of detail and I love it. I think Coco is a very nice movie to incorporate into a park, especially with the Land of the Dead. You’re proposal has really blown me away, which is no surprise! I love how you also included the other lands by location, and the way it’s written sounds like something that would be said at a D23 event. I am really impressed at what you put down for us. I can imagine what it would be like on Coco’s Musical Fiesta. I hope it would be colorful but I know that it would have great music. I think a whip ride would be a great idea for the land, and I’d love to see the AA Miguel! Overall, you’ve got quite the proposal, and with a lot of detail and cool-sounding experiences, this would make a great addition to the park. Great job!!

Bonus: I would love to stay in the land of the dead! This could be a really immersive hotel! +1.

@v_k with “Zootopia”
Disneylover152: Zootopia was a really great movie that deserves some theme park recognition. And asking my friends in France, was a really popular movie in there. The main ride, Splashtopia, seems like a fun ride that would be exciting to the French theme park, since the park has no water rides. This seems like the Splash Mountain of this resort, and it has the potential to be one of the park’s highlights. The restaurant seems like a fun experience for us guests, and dining in a mansion would definitely bring some Carthay Circle style restaurants to the resort. And the Z-mart sounds like a really cool store, while general, something that could be really unique on the interior with the style. And the ZPD Academy sounds like an interactive dark ride combo Jedi Training Academy. That will sure be a hit in that park. This will be a very immersive attraction! Wonderful work!

DisneyForever: Zootopia is one of my favorite movies, and having a land would be like making my dreams come true! I wish there were more details, but there were only bullet-points. I never thought of a water ride for a Zootopia, but I think that would fit!! The map is a clear representation of where it would be, and the location looks great, even not at scale. ZPD Academy seems like a fun ride that could be popular, especially being interactive. I can only imagine using those lasers to save the city from crime. Also, it would be fun to dine in Mr. Big’s mansion, and seeing all the characters would be a great treat for little kids. Overall, I could totally see this land be built, and be an amazing, immersive experience.

Bonus: The Zootopia style hotel is sure to be a hit, and it will definitely be very immersive. +1.

@FireMountain with “Halloween Town”
Disneylover152: The Nightmare Before Christmas is a really great movie, and would work so well as a theme park experience. The concept of Bringing a permanent Halloween experience is something that Disney should consider placing in one of their theme parks. These two dark rides are very creative, bringing unique ride systems to the resort. The Dr. Finkelstein’s Lab ride really intrigues me, and sounds like a fun experience. It can sort of be the Mystic Manor of this resort. I would love to know more about it another time in fact. The Nightmare Before Christmas dark ride seems like a great experience too! The Oogie Boogie restaurant seems like a really neat idea too, and the Screamin’ Good Gifts would be an interesting shop. Overall, this is a really immersive concept that I would love to know more about another time. Wonderful work! +1.

DisneyForever: I won’t lie, I thought we were talking about the 90s Disney Channel Original Movie Halloweentown, and I was going to be so surprised, but this Halloween Town works fine, too. It’s lacking some details, but I can still get how and what it would be like. The ride about the movie would be fun, but it may be too scary for some kids. The same goes for the restaurant. A Nightmare Before Christmas was a movie I never thought would be made into a land. Overall, I think we could use this type of land in this park, especially since there is almost nothing immersive.

Bonus: I would love to stay in Halloweentown! Such a creepy experience. +1.

@D Hindley with “Duckburg”
Disneylover152: DuckTales doesn’t scream themed-land to me, but you did it created one perfectly! I would love to explore the streets of Duckburg, and it could be a really cool experience like Toontown with interactive mailboxes and cartoony events happening. It could really bring in some interesting streetsmosphere as well! The Money Bin Break-In seems like a fun shooting ride that I’m sure will have long waits. The heist would be a neat storyline and sort-of like the Millenium Falcon ride, the outcome of this could affect how the other ducks treat you in this land. Disneyland Paris doesn’t have a flight simulator like Soarin’ or Flight of Passage, so this exhilarating ride would be welcome. The story seems like a wonkie one that fits the simulator theme really well. I would love to ride and this has the potential of being the new Ratatouille! THe restaurant and shop sound interesting and overall this is a really immersive experience. Great work!

DisneyForever: I never thought of making Duckburg an actual land before. I think it could work, especially for the people that enjoy the old and new versions. I’m wondering if Crash Course Quack would be a Soarin’ ride simulator, or something different/new. Money Bin Break-In sounds like it would be fun, and as an interactive shooter ride, would we be shooting at money bags? Or ducks? Either way, it would be cool. I feel like Duck merchandise would be hilarious and fun, because of the comical look of the new version. Overall, I would’ve never imagined Duckburg as a land, but I could see it. Haha!! You’ve got a lot of detail, and I applaud you. Nice job!!

Bonus: McDuck Manor would be something I would love to stay in that seems very entertaining and immersive. +1.

@michmousefan with “Streets of London”

Disneylover152: When people think of highly-immersive lands, they don’t think of multi-IP. But this really connects the 3 IPs together beautifully. The theme of London could entertain some English guests just as the Paris theme entertains the French guests in a way. A Cruella chase coaster would be interesting and exhilarating. That would sure to be a hit and a reason alone to come to this park. It could also have a cool, cartoony aspect to it. And, Mr. Toad’s has representation in Disneyland Paris Park as a restaurant. Not sure how you can connect the two stories, but if Toy Story can be in two parks, Mr. Toad can be as well. The new, 2018 version of this ride will sure be technologically cool but cool as you are not just on the ground of London, but all around. And the table-service Mary Poppins restaurant is sure to be a hit with all guests. The interactive elements sound interesting as well. This is a very cool land! Great work!

DisneyForever: I think a multi-IP land would be really cool and exciting!! It’s a different idea than I would’ve ever imagined. Even though areas like Tomorrowland are multi-IP, this land is a really detailed and themed land all into one street. A 2018 version of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride would be awesome, I wonder how it’d be upgraded? The family coaster sounds like a nice and fun idea, as for Poppins. I’m imagining that Poppins would have different rooms, like the house and drawings area. This sounds familiar to a project that I created just a few months ago for the last competition. You’ve created something very original that seems to have so many fun things and experiences to see!! Each attraction is very original and seems to have a kind of “story” to it. Overall, I think you’ve got a great proposal!!

Bonus: Interesting idea for a hotel. +1.

@Pionmycake with “Figment’s Dreamland”
Disneylover152: Wow, this Figment imagined its way across the atlantic ocean?!?! Cool! Starting with the restaurant, Figment’s Feast seems like a fun family restaurant with bright colors and food for everyone! And the Imagination Institute shop sounds interesting, bringing horrifying memories of the 1990s refresh of the ride for me though. LOL. Flight of Whimsy sounds like a really great incorporation of Flight of Passage into this park. A Figment version of this sounds cool, and it could have a fun pre-show like Test Track where you design your own dragon, as well as incorporate the Flight of Passage pre-shows and ACE theme, reimagining it to the Imagination Institute theme. And the Top SPin Dark Fantasies dark ride sounds interesting and inventive. Definitely not for kids, but seems like a thrilling experience going into our nightmares. Great land bringing the character of Figment to life.
DisneyForever: Figment had a comic?? I never knew that. Anyways, I really like the idea of using the Flight of Passage ride system, since we don't have that at Disneyland Paris, although I think using the Flights of... seems a bit redundant. I'd like to see more of what it's about, though!! I like the idea of Dark Fantasies, but I think it could scare some of the little ones, definitely not a dark ride for small children. I like the idea of building your own food creations at Figments Feast, it seems like a unique idea that could get popular. It would also bring some modern technology to the park. It would be really cute to have a Figment plushie, and other character plushies, Figment is a cute and lovable character after all! From what I've seen, you've got a great imagination (no pun intended) with this proposal, but I'd like to know more!! It's original for sure, and it's got elements that aren't commonly seen. Overall, it's a great project!!

Bonus: The Dragon themed hotel, while a little redundant with the Dragons lair next door, would be a really cool. Can all the hotel rooms have an animatronic dragon please?? +1.

Disneylover152: Kingdom Hearts sounds like another interesting idea for a IP land, but it works. The Test-Track ride system isn’t in Disneyland Paris, and the Gummi Ship Adventure sounds like a great experience, combining a shooting style ride with a Test-Track syle ride. And the Keyblade Training Class sounds like a fun Jedi-Training Experience like show. It may be a little redundant with Jedi Training Academy next door in Disneyland Park, and a 10 minute walk away in the Galaxy’s Edge, but this version will definitely be unique in a way. Keyblade Cavern seems like a immersive restaurant that I would love to dine in, and I love The Item Shop. Really great work!

DisneyForever: Even though I haven't played Kingdom Hearts before, this sounds like it would be a fun land!! The big E-ticket sounds like a fun idea, mashing together what seems to be cute... and thrilling!! Being similar to Test Track is a great idea, especially since there is only one version of that kind of ride. And blending together a dark shooter? This E-ticket would sure get a high occupancy and would be popular all year round. Keyblade Training Class sweet, but I'm wondering, would it be mashed together somehow with Keyblade Cavern? They both have the same word choice, maybe there could be a stage where the guests would be trained while people eat. I like the idea of having different themed rooms, and the idea of being a sit-down restaurant. I'd like to see what the plushies would look like at the Item Shop, and including Pop Figures is a plus!! This land sounds like something the Studios needs, it's a very original area that sounds like fun for all ages. You've done some great work here, keep it up!!

Bonus: Destiny Island seems like a fun beach themed resort in addition to the 7 current hotels Disneyland Paris offers. Great work +1.

Challenge 7 Results!
There were an absolute ton of quality proposals, making it really hard trying to select and rank the best.

A great idea alone is worth a lot in One Sentence Competition. So is a well-presented proposal. Our top finishers boasted a combo of each, and in such a crowded field many medal-worthy entries are sadly going unrewarded.

Challenge 8
Disneyland Paris

CLPu3zWwsqT4YSOEzSlgXbKXSKOsYnYC3vrp3A6cQgQkgRwQ8pbGteQIJirYd6oIpxbOAWMxz7UvfaZqjXVqqYc1yAD42ChBNb7jrtz__au7ygGQGLdPihV_t8N_u7-MSO7taZKE

Welcome to Disneyland Paris, arguably the most beautiful and thematic Disney theme park in the world. Disneyland Paris was opened in 1992 as Euro Disneyland, with 5 lands. Discoveryland, Fantasyland, Adventureland, Frontierland, and Main Street. It brings the magic of Disney to Europe, with some amazing attractions and the most experiences and minor magical touches than any other Disney park.

-Background Information-
Disneyland Paris has the land “Frontierland” in this park, but it is much more detailed than ours. It has classic attractions like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Riverboat, but it also has reimagined attractions like the Phantom Manor. And believe it or not, but they all connect by the story of the town, Thunder Mesa.

It’s a complicated background story, so I recommend you read this article! It explains the story really well. It’s a multi-parter, but it's really great. I highly suggest you read it, even if after the competition- http://land.allears.net/blogs/jackspence/2009/02/frontierland_part_1_thunder_me.html

-Challenge-
Your task is to add a new ride to Frontierland and have it connect it to the story of Thunder Mesa. This new ride cannot be found in any other Disney Park around the world, but you may use ride systems from other Disney Parks.

-Rules-
You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 image. It’s an entire land, you will need all the sentences you can get! The deadline is Friday, April 27, 2018 at 8:59pm EST. The amount of time is getting shorter! Critiques will come following at 11pm EST.

-Bonus-
Meanwhile in Discoveryland, the theme is slowly fading away. In 2006, Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast opened to the public. While a fun ride, it doesn’t fit the theme of Discoveryland at all and it is a little redundant with Toy Story Land in the park nextdoor. Create a new shooting dark ride to replace Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast, and make it connect with the theme of Discoveryland,

-Tips-
K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please!

-Judging Criteria-
Creativity- Is it creative?
“The Big Picture”- Do you make the most of your sentences allotted? Do I understand what your submission is about? Do you mention the beginning and end of the ride?
Realism- Is it (generally) realistic? Is it something Disney will/could build? Are there patents related to your submission?
Theme- Does it fit thematically? Does it fit visually?
Originality- Is it original?
Effort- Is effort shown?

-Reminders-
This prompt will be a points prompt. As a reminder, everyone who submits something as well as follows the rules will get 1 point. 3 awards are given for each challenge. The three awards are Bronze (+1 points), Silver (+2 points), and Gold (+3 points). Everyone who submits gets a point, but Bronze, Silver, and Gold winners get additional points.

Reminder that prompts are due at 8:59pm EST. Reviews come at 11pm EST with the next prompt coming at Midnight EST.

IP stands for Intellectual Property.

Follow the rules, posted here!

Good luck everyone! If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Now go imagineer!

Alameda Slim's Roundup

HA.png

A brand new Home on the Range themed experience is coming to Disneyland Paris' Frontierland, just in time for the movie's 20th anniversary, and Disneyland Paris' 32th Anniversary; Alameda Slim's Roundup, will open in Summer 2024!

You may remember Alameda Slim by the atrocious acts he did in the movie Home on the Range, like stealing all the cattle from the Dixon Ranch, however, one doesn't become the Wild West from overnight, long before he ever came to be the thief you know and love, he used to be a citizen of the mighty Thunder Mesa, and he was a visionary, he created a primitive concept, in which the guests would board a cart, which is connected to a cow, and as soon as he begin singing his secret song, they'll make the guests move; however, when his business failed, he decided to make all who turned their back on them pay, by leaving them penniless...

Inspired by one of the movie's most loved scene, a whip ride centered around Alameda Slim singing his infamous Yodel-adle-eedle-idle-oo, in which the guests ride vehicle will be themed to look like a Wild West cart, and the whip vehicle will be a cow, which will be begin moving as soon as Alameda begins singing.

Bonus:
Enter Journey to the Mysterious Island, a shooting ride like no other, in which you have been sent by the SEA to collect the DNA of unknown creatures.

Over the past few months, bandits have been doing several crimes in the town of Thunder Mesa, you, the sheriff, encounter them, but they get away. So you get on horseback (ride system shown above) and chase them through the town's caverns. All ending in an action-packed finale through the bandit's lair.

Bonus: buzz Lightyear Laser Blast will be replaced by an all new shooter ride starring Dreamfinder and Figment, where you shoot away all the "bad" ideas.

Thunder Mesa Stagecoach Adventure
1524853361633.png

Replacing the critter corral and the area behind it is a new ride exclusive to Disneyland Paris. Guests will be taken on a scenic journey across the frontiers of America in a stagecoach, narrated by a live 'driver'. However, guests can also expect to be beset by storms, flash floods and even be caught in the middle of a shoot-out between a Sheriff's Deputies and a band of outlaws in this exciting new dark ride with mild thrill elements.

The Bonus: Timekeepers
Replacing Buzz Lightyear in Discoveryland is Timekeepers, an interactive shooter dark ride where guests board steam powered 'time-mobiles' to hunt down threats throughout history.
