Coming to Rafiki's Planet Watch: Conserve the Magic

OSP #6.jpg

Done like a very serious style much like early versions of the Jungle Cruise will be a flying dark ride into the world of magic.

This flight (similar to Peter Pan) will take you over oceans and through forests explaining in no less than scientific terms how the mythical creatures are growing extinct.

This ride will let you observe the creatures from a distance as well as explain how to help protect them by not losing sight of the magic within you and all around you.

Bonus: A reskin of Expedition Everest will change the yeti into the Abominable Snowman from Monsters Inc.

CHALLENGE 6
CRITIQUES

Before we review the Challenge #6 Proposals, we would like to say how impressed we are with everyone's proposals! They are all really great!

Every single proposal was unique in their own way, but three really stood out to us.

Also, the detail category has been renamed to “The Big Picture” due to the confusion over the “Detail” category and also that name fits what we want more. Also, please note that while those categories have factors in the medals, the main thing we choose is the concept.

@DisneyForever 's posts will be up sometime tomorrow!

Good luck to you all and we cannot wait to see what you all come up with next!

@DisneyFan18 with “Pocahontas and the Colors of the Wind”
Disneylover152: Pocahontas is a really underused character in the parks, and the park she really belongs in is the Animal Kingdom. The message her movie has about saving the environment fits the Animal Kingdom like a charm. The log flume style ride really fits the theme of the park as well. Having a log flume may be a little redundant with Splash Mountain a few parks away and Kali River Rapids in the same park, but if their can be five Dumbo Style attractions in the resort, their could be two log flumes. The story seems interesting and fits thematically. The exterior of the attraction is cool as well, and I like the Native American settlement. Defiantly something that would bring guests on the Wildlife express.

DisneyForever: I think Pocahontas is a great fit for an animal park, and it's a great but underutilized within the resorts. A log flume ride would be nice, but may be too much like Kali River Rapids. The story of it is wonderful and fits perfectly in the park with its theme and water use. The outdoors is great, maybe mainly because of the Native American area!! This would definitely be a thing that guests would hop on the Wildlife Express for!

Bonus: Even though I don’t hate Dinoland U.S.A. as much as everyone else does, I am happy to see it go away. The inverted coaster sounds fun, even though it's based off of a non-popular IP. +1.

@v_k with “Wonder’s of Nature”
Disneylover152: The Animal Kingdom is all about conservation of the Earth. This attraction continues that overarching theme. The Disneynature movies are a natural fit for the park, and I’m a little surprised there hasn’t been anything, even 4-D Show, about Disneynature. Omnimovers are quinicential Disney, and that ride system would be greatly appreciated in this park that only has two dark rides. This sounds like a really fun ride where you can journey with Mother Nature experiencing the many animals of this world, like whales and ants. This ride bring a bunch of animals that can’t fit in the other areas of the park thematically into one ride. And it also has an ability to be updated with new animals! Also, I love continuing the Africa theme. Overall this sounds like a great experience that continues the message of the environment. Great work!

DisneyForever: DisneyNature needs to be somewhere in the park, and not just because of its nature theme, but because of its beautiful visual graphics! It's really an underused IP (I think I'm using that correctly) that should at least get a mini-movie in the park. It would be great to see this proposal actually come to life!! I don't know about using Omnimovers, but it would help settle my little thing about the lack of dark rides at AK. Everything about the ride sounds fun, something I think a lot of guests would come for. It also would bring in other animals not native to Asia, Africa, etc., without having to build new lands. It seems to also have an African feel to it. Overall, this would be a really fun ride to go on, and it continues Animal Kingdom's natural and environmental theme.

Bonus: A Tarzan coaster is a really great idea, that was mentioned by WDI before. A suspended coaster would really add to the park positively, and the ride fits the theme of the park. +1.

@FireMountain with “S.E.A. Conservation System”
Disneylover152: I like how you are continuing the theme of Africa in the Planet Watch, as well as bringing the S.E.A. story to this park. The only park in Disney World that actually can fit it well. While continuing the theme of Africa, you are making it seperate from the land a train ride away by making it an outpost. This new land also brings the animals of the imagination to life by having mythical creatures represented in a carousel theatre style show. The Nessie dark ride sounds really fun and has the potential of becoming a staple of this park! And for some reason, the idea of “meeting Nessie” gives me King Kong vibes from Universal where we get attacked by the Nessie?!?! Great work that fits the theme of the Animal Kingdom.

DisneyForever: Using the S.E.A. Story in this park would bring something extra. That extra is this!! As you're continuing an African theme, you're also adding an extra layer to the ride. It's just a train ride away to this outpost. A carousel theatre presenting mythical creatures is a terrific idea, and so is that Nessie dark ride. It would be awesome meeting Nessie, I can imagine her being cute and cuddly for some reason!! The theming here is amazing, and it fits overall with Animal Kingdom. Lovely!!

Bonus: Zootopia fits the Animal Kingdom as well as Horizons fit the theme of Epcot. Not sure how Zootopia fits the theme of Dinoland, but great work nevertheless. +1.

@mharrington with “The Nature of Things”
Disneylover152: The Nature of Things sounds like an interesting experience. Jiminy Cricket sounds like a great host for this style attraction, and “The Mickey Mouse Club” is an IP I never thought could fit The Animal Kingdom. This ride seems interesting and I love the learning aspect of the ride. The Animal Kingdom seems like the perfect park for a ride with this style, and its interesting that we haven’t seen a ride similar to this in this park. The Living with the Land is a really great ride that is perfect for Epcot, and this sounds like a perfect animal version of that. Great work!

DisneyForever: The Mickey Mouse Club in Animal Kingdom??!! Somehow you made it work, and I applaud you. I think it would be fun to have Jiminy Cricket along as the host of this ride, he could really be entertaining yet educating!! There's both something that educates and doesn't bore people, it's a great addition to Animal Kingdom!! It would be cool to have a Living With the Land type ride in this park, but would it get redundant with boat/water rides? Overall, I love what you've presented, very nice proposal!!

Bonus: The Jungle Book show was not the best of Disney, but a log flume version can really breathe new life into the former-show. +1.

@D Hindley with “TOO MANY GOATS!”
Disneylover152: So… Rafiki’s Planet Watch, with goats? Sounds fun for people who aren’t allergic to goats, but I am. Your work is so amazing, I don’t know what to say. Brilliant ideas! LOL. Thanks for making myself laugh so hard. (P.S. This is a joke right, if not I'll be happy to write you a real review)

DisneyForever: Ooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkk, let's see, we're getting more goats in Rafiki's Planet Watch? Sounds fun yet goofy, a little unnecessary, basically Superstar Limo with animals. I've got nothing else to say. I do hope this is a joke, a very elaborate one at that!! OMG. You made me laugh yet you made me a little confused. Haha!! Message me when you get a real proposal. Fun project!!

Bonus: No bonus?

@michmousefan with “Backstage Animalia”
Disneylover152: This sounds like an Animal Kingdom version of the Hollywood Studios former backlot tour. This sounds like a really fun ride using technology that has been around forever. Giving guests a tour of the backstage Animal Kingdom is really original, and while the Wildlife Express does this, it’s not as fully fledged as this ride sounds. This sounds like a fun experience that is something I would definitely experience multiple times on my trip to the park. It sounds cool and something that has an Epcot feel to it, but still feels Animal Kingdom like. Great work!

DisneyForever: Backlot Tour Starring Animal Kimgdom is what it sounds like. There's nothing wrong with that, I personally believe it would be fun to explore the backstage of Animal Kingdom. Wildlife Express does this, but not as detailed as this has been proposed. It's a fun experience I would ride, partly because I loved the Backlot Tour. It's not as Animal Kingdom style, but it fits. Nice job!!

Bonus: I love Pandas. They are so cute. Please bring them to Animal Kingdom. +1.

@Pionmycake with “Animal Kingdom Discovery River Cruise”
Disneylover152: This sounds like a really cool ride that fits the theme of the Animal Kingdom, as you mentioned. This sounds familiar with the Jungle Cruise, but still is different and original. It also teaches guests about the past and present animals, while reinventing the animals of the imagination, with a Figment like animal? Very original, LOL. But besides that, this sounds like a fun ride that may be a little redundant with the Jungle Cruise, but with four Dumbo’s in one park, I’m pretty sure it’s okay to have two Jungle Cruises in two seperate parks. And with the past, present, and imagination theme evident, it really brings the park together in one ride, similar to Horizons. Great work!

DisneyForever: This seems like it would be a fun ride that fits Animal Kingdom's animal and nature theme, which you had said. Although, it seems a little too familiar too the Jungle Cruise, it has its differences. It teaches the past and the present animals, all while including animals of the imagination, like Figment!! An original and fun ride that I'm sure I would ride many times. With pasts, presents, and imaginations put together in one ride, this attraction fits, in Animal Kingdom and EPCOT. Haha! Good job!!

Bonus: What??? You doing a Figment themed Attraction? I’m shocked! Replacing Pandora is not my personal favorite idea, but since it’s been established that Figment is an animal of the Imagination, it does fit the mythical part of Animal Kingdom. +1.

@pixie_princess with “Conserve the Magic”
Disneylover152: A combination Jungle Cruise and Peter Pan’s Flight is really original! It also sounds very interesting. I like the flight through oceans and forests with scientists bringing the Mythology section of the Animal Kingdom theme to life. This ride seems to have a great fan base, and I’m positive this ride will have fans lining up. I love the theme and how its encouraging you to keep those mythical animals alive in your mind as well as giving you a lesson on conservation. Great work!

DisneyForever: Jungle Cruise and Peter Pan out together... AWESOME! Flights through oceans and forests, scientists and Mythology, this brings both the real and planned aspects of Animal Kingdom!! Both the theme and detailing touches my heart, and it's great how you're encouraging guests to keep mythical creatures alive not only around you, but in your mind. It's educational aspect is another great feature this attraction has to offer. This is a great proposal that if it was real, guests would love it. Wonderful!!

Bonus: Monster’s Inc. and Animal Kingdom aren’t the best combination, but as long as the Abominable Snowman moves and is not disco-snowman, I guess it's okay. LOL

Challenge 6 Results!
There were an absolute ton of quality proposals, making it really hard trying to select and rank the best.

A great idea alone is worth a lot in One Sentence Competition. So is a well-presented proposal. Our top finishers boasted a combo of each, and in such a crowded field many medal-worthy entries are sadly going unrewarded.
