DUFFY HOMECOMING

Within Japan, Duffy the Disney Bear has so far featured exclusively in Tokyo DisneySea (where he represents Mickey's nautical adventures abroad, and commands multi-hour queues for shops), but for Tokyo Disneyland's 40th anniversary in 2023 Duffy and Friends will be visiting Mickey's home park for the first time ever!

Duffy Homecoming sees the entirety of Tokyo Disneyland transformed to welcome Duffy and his pals Shellie May, Stella Lou & Gelatoni, with meet 'n' greets, adorably kawaii themed snacks, and exclusive merchandise carts in every land, plus festive decor and "Hidden Duffies" everyplace.

Enjoy the new Welcome Home Duffy daytime parade, the Friends Forever castle fireworks show, plus - best of all! - the premier of Duffy's latest (and most merchandiseable) bestest buddy, Macaroni Joe, an airplane-flying dachshund.

-BONUS-
Duffy's Friend-Ships
premiers for the festival, a park-hopping boat ride which leaves from Disneyland's Toontown and travels into DisneySea's Cape Cod, uniting Mickey's and Duffy's hometowns.

Festival of the Stars

Tomorrowland is having it's annual Festival of the Stars (hosted by Ludwig Von Drake), where the stars come close to the city and light it up. The entire area will be covered by a tent, with stars projected onto it. At night, real "stars" will descend from the tent and make Tomorrowland shine even brighter, you can even purchase your own tiny star.

Bonus- Tokyo's Tomorrowland will get it's own updated version of the DIsneyland classic Rocket to the Moon.

Walt Disney's World Expo

View attachment 281658

In 2025, Japan will host the World Expo, and Tokyo Disneyland will be celebrating a brand new festival that year, in honor of Walt Disney participation at the New York’s World Fair in 1964; join Mickey & his friends at Walt Disney’s World Expo from May 3 - November 3, 2025!

In this unique festival, the cultures around the world will be celebrated throughout the park as part of Walt Disney’s World Expo, for example: you’ll be able to find topiaries inspired by technology and multiculturalism; limited timed M&Gs like Miguel in Adventureland, and Mary Poppins in Fantasyland; exclusive food offerings inspired by Disney Movies around the world, like Coco, Moana, and Mulan.

However, the stars of the festival are It’s a Small World Parade, whose floats will have a mix of Mary Blair figures showcasing different countries and the Disney characters that belong to those countries like Elsa, and Pinocchio; and A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow, an Expo located throughout all of Tomorrowland, themed around the design of a future society for our lives to match Yumeshima World Expo’s theme!

Bonus:
The Showbase will be replaced by Big Hero 6: Technology Showcase a brand new experience designed to be a spiritual successor of Carousel of Progress; it will open on May 3, 2025!
Done! I have to admit that I’m proud of how this turned out, when I came with the concept, I wasn’t sure of where it was going...

Goofy's Olympic Sports-tacular
In 2020, the Olympics will be coming to Tokyo. In honor of that, Tokyo Disneyland is getting on the fun, and given his background in the field of sports, who better to host the event than Goofy? In this festival, the Fab Six, led by Goofy, will be engaging in various sport activities throughout the park. They include a footrace through World Bazaar, fencing in Adventureland (against a pirate or two maybe?), or a canoe race across the Rivers of America!

Bonus: To mark the occasion, there will be a special parade through Tokyo Disneyland devoted to the Olympic games, again hosted by Goofy. On these floats for this event, you watch Disney characters engage in these same sporting events you yourself can do in the main event.

Festival of the Seasons
seasons.png

Enjoy the delights of a year's full of seasons in one visit during Tokyo Disneyland's all-new Festival of the Seasons, running from May through August (ending just before the Halloween decorations start to appear).

Four sections of the park will each be "taken over" by a particular season and hosted by a classic Disney cast of characters — Spring-Critter Country/The Aristocats, Summer/Adventureland-The Lion King, Fall/Fantasyland-Lady & the Tramp, Winter/Tomorrowland-Frozen — with special experiences, scavenger hunts (including small little "plusses" on attractions for guests to spot), merchandise and food options (popcorn buckets) crafted for each season. Each area will have a "season center" area with character meet & greets and a store/scavenger hunt redemption area, with special food options spread throughout the lands.

Bonus: Tying it all together will be a spectacular nighttime parade with elaborately themed and illuminated floats as other Disney and Pixar characters join in on the fun, combining four seasons of the year into a single memorable celebration.

CHALLENGE 9
CRITIQUES

Before we review the Challenge #9 Proposals, we would like to say how impressed we are with everyone's proposals! They are all really great!

Every single proposal was unique in their own way, but three really stood out to us.

Also, the detail category has been renamed to “The Big Picture” due to the confusion over the “Detail” category and also that name fits what we want more. Also, please note that while those categories have factors in the medals, the main thing we choose is the concept.

Good luck to you all and we cannot wait to see what you all come up with next!

@DisneyFan18 with “Walt Disney’s World Expo”
Disneylover152: Wow! This sounds like a really interesting festival, something that I would love to experience! I love how you beautifully combined the style of a festival like Pixar Fest with a festival like Flower and Garden. It seamlessly connects! The cultures of the world theme is a really great one, and the entirety of the festival feels like a temporary Epcot. I love the incorporation of meet and greets and they really feel like something that is limited time, but yet fits with the park. The exclusive food sounds intriguing, and hopefully it will be more character oriented than Pixar Fest. And the fan-favorite topiaries from Epcot have made their way here. And the It’s a Small World parade sounds very Tokyo, and seems like a great parade to be added to the resort. Overall, this sounds like a fun festival that incorporates classic Disney vibes with the 21st Century. Great work!

DisneyForever: To me, this seems like a mash between EPCOT's Flower and Garden festival and Pixar Fest. It's a very intriguing festival, it seems like a mini EPCOT going around the world. Using temporary meet and greets is a great idea, they seem temporary either way. They really go well in the park. I love how the topiaries are being brought to Tokyo Disneyland, they seem like they would fit almost anywhere! The food sounds nice, using characters and world themes would be great. Lastly, the It's a Small World Parade sounds wonderful! I think that this parade would draw a lot of people's attention. Would it have custom dolls? The parade seems to fit right in with the park. Overall, this seems like a great festival that would be fun to go to, that brings back classic Disney and clashes it with the present. Excellent job!!

Bonus: The Big Hero 6 show seems like a welcoming addition to Tomorrowland bringing the Carousel theater technology to life in Tokyo. +1.

@D Hindley with “Duffy Homecoming”
Disneylover152: Duffy is a very popular character in the Asian Parks and this celebration is sure to be a hit. The snacks seem really fun and the merchandise carts in each land should spread out the lines around the park since Duffy is very popular. Also I love the idea of having “Hidden Duffy’s” scattered around the park, and it would be fun to experience. And I’m sure the meet & greets will fill in lines. The parade sounds really cute and hopefully it would have other characters in it besides Duffy, as that’s one of the things I dislike about the Pixar Play Parade being in Disneyland Park. But it still sounds cute and the fireworks show (while Tokyo has no fireworks shows) seems interesting. Macaroni Joe sounds like a funky character as well! Overall, this celebration seems really fun and this would definitely bring in the locals. Wonderful work!

DisneyForever: Duffy sounds like a very interesting yet fitting festival for Tokyo Disneyland. I know that Duffy is popular at almost all the parks, so having a festival just for him would be great!! The food sounds very nice and fun, and merchandise stalls in each land would help spread out the people. Only having one cart would cause lots of disruption. "Hidden Duffy's" sound awesome, and scattered around the park, would it clash with Hidden Mickey's? I wonder how they would be temporary. The parade seems cute, but I think it would be TOO much Duffy. And adding a fireworks show would be fantastic, seeing as though Tokyo Disneyland doesn't have one. It would be great to see if it would become permanent. Overall, you've got a great, fun festival/celebration for Duffy!! Great!!

Bonus: A great transportation system between the parks that will sure to be useful (and free?). +1.

@FireMountain with “Festival of Stars”
Disneylover152: This is such an original idea for a festival, but it does sound unique. I like the idea of enclosing Tomorrowland and covering the ceiling with stars, and it should be something permanent with that land. But the star theme is very cool! I love how it can be educational teaching you about stars and showing you about them. Also, I’m sure people would love to purchase their own star! The star overlay to Tomorrowland seems really cool and engaging. While a simple festival, it seems like a fun one that is worth experiencing.

DisneyForever: An original and interesting festival for Tokyo Disneyland sounds great!! I really love how you've used Tomorrowland, it is my favorite land no matter what park. Enclosing it and having the ceiling covered with stars seems really cool, but I don't know about it being there forever. The star theme is really fun, and could provide insight about space, making this festival not only entertaining, but educational, too!! People would love to purchase their own star, I'm sure I would. Overall, this seems like a simple yet exciting, unique, and engaging festival, one that would be fun to have annually.

Bonus: Rocket to the Moon is a fun ride that would sure find its way home in this wonderful park. +1
