Hey, I was wondering if perhaps I missed something that happened but I was wondering where @DisneyForever has been? @Disneylover152 is it just down to one host or is this temporary?

@DisneyForever is still here, he just can't write reviews every week as he is busy, which is totally understandable. But he is still here, he just is behind the scenes helping with medals and prompt ideas, and if you guys bring up a question, him and I discuss them in a conversation.

He is still here, just not "on stage".

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
1ThvksukVOiv5T0EZdrv2YpF7wsuwyeFkL8qugT204X1akrBIqclw3c55hiHZ3X5HD4_HVwchbQWhh30Z8UzhQpesnsdaIcovGmqvopNv4XZRTlcSmqIj0kEzqXuf6fcz1NPAWWl

Welcome to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the place where the animals of the real world (Africa, Asia, etc.), the past world (Dinosaurs), and the fictional world (Avatar, yetis) come to life. This is the only park where you can spend hours wandering around the many trails (animal, walking, and characters) to have the adventure of your life, as well as experience many exciting attractions.

-Background Information-
Rafiki’s Planet Watch opened with the park and it is a petting zoo as well as a conservation station. Here you can board the Wildlife Express Train to this area of the park. At the Planet Watch, guests can learn about protecting endangered species, get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the animal care and veterinary rooms, as well as pet your favorite animals. This is a fun, underrated land that most people don’t even know exists.

-Challenge-
Imagineers, your task is to design something new for the Planet Watch. Make people want to go there. Add a new ride, redesign the land, do whatever you feel necessary. But one requirement: You must still include the theme mentioned above in the Background Information, AS WELL as keep every single existing experience. So in other words, only add, don’t take away! But feel free to redesign the interiors of these spaces or keep the petting zoo but give it a new name/story.

-Rules-
You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 image. The deadline is Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 8:59pm EST. Critiques will come following at 11pm EST.

-Bonus-
With Disney Parks moving to more IPs, your task here is to design a IP ride with an innovating/modern ride system that could be placed anywhere in the park. It could be any IP that exists, even 3rd party properties.

-Tips-
K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please! But, still make sure to give us the entire picture.

-Judging Criteria-
Creativity- Is it creative?
“The Big Picture”- Do you make the most of your sentences allotted? Do I understand what your submission is about? Do you mention the beginning and end of the ride?
Realism- Is it (generally) realistic? Is it something Disney will/could build? Are there patents related to your submission?
Theme- Does it fit thematically? Does it fit visually?
Originality- Is it original?
Effort- Is effort shown?

-Reminders-
This prompt will be a points prompt. As a reminder, everyone who submits something as well as follows the rules will get 1 point. 3 awards are given for each challenge. The three awards are Bronze (+1 points), Silver (+2 points), and Gold (+3 points). Everyone who submits gets a point, but Bronze, Silver, and Gold winners get additional points.

Reminder that prompts are due at 8:59pm EST. Reviews come at 11pm EST with the next prompt coming at Midnight EST.

IP stands for Intellectual Property.

Follow the rules, posted here!

Good luck everyone! If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Now go imagineer!

Is he going to be doing any more reviewing for the competition or not at all anymore. I am finding myself a little confused and caught off guard by a seeming lack of communication. I totally understand being to busy to work on this as this is supposed to be a just a fun thing and if you can't do something either in a time or at all that's fine but not knowing of both of you are going to be reviewing at all or if one of you is going to be ducking out halfway through the responses or if they will be getting out on the timeline you set I am finding the comunication a little frustraiting personally.

I understand needing to change things around and fully support whatever needs to happen to make this run smoothly but leaving us in the dark is a bit annoying.

Pocahontas & The Colors of the Wind

Rafiki’s Planet Watch will become part of Animal Kingdom’s newest land, Nature’s Wonderland, and it will be joined by a brand new E-Ticket Log Flume Ride Attraction, Pocahontas & The Colors of the Wind, opening in Summer 2023.

Pocahontas & The Colors of the Wind’s facade will be themed around a Native American settlement, and the only visible part of the ride, similar to Splash Mountain, will be the fall which will be themed around a waterfall, like the one seen in the movie; this E-Ticket attraction will feature state of the art animatronics for the animals, Grandmother Willow, and Pocahontas.

This one of a kind experience will take you on an adventure with Pocahontas, while Grandmother Willow teaches her about the importance of taking care, and respecting everything within Nature, as every rock, tree, and creature has a life, has a spirit, has a name.

Bonus:
Dinorama will close on September 2020, to make way for a The Good Dinosaur themed Powered Mack Inverted Coaster; Arlo’s Great Adventure will open in Summer 2023!

Wonders of Nature

As guests step off the Wildlife Express Train at Rafiki's Planet Watch, they will see a new show building behind the train station that expands on the rural African aesthetic. Inside is a new omnimover dark ride in collaboration with Disney Nature, the documentary branch of the Walt Disney Company. Narrated by Mother Nature herself, guests can dive with a pod of whales, run with wildebeests in the Great Serengeti Migration and shrink down to see inside an ant colony. As the finale, the ride pulls out so that guests have a view of the entire Earth from space, a powerful message about conservation.

The Bonus: Tarzan's Jungle Vines
To be built between Africa and Asia, this innovative roller coaster can change from a traditional coaster to overhead suspended coaster and back again to give guests the sensation of running through the jungle as well as soaring through the trees.

Great call with this!! I was thinking a Tarzan coaster would be perfect too! Next time I'll just have to be quicker to the draw ;)

The Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A) has set up a base near Africa where they protect endangered animals, real and fictional, this new area will have all current existing exhibits from Rafiki's Planet Watch, but will be given a more "outpost-y" vibe. This new area will be home to 2 all new attractions dedicated to preserving endangered, fictional, creatures, one is a carousel theater show featuring some of their more "mythical" creatures, such as Bigfoot, Unicorns, Jackalopes, and Dragons. The other is a dark ride adaptation of the "The Ballad of Nessie" which is a short about conservation starring the Loch Ness Monster, you can even meet Nessie after the ride.

Bonus: Dino-Rama will be demolished to make way for a ride based on Zootopia, the ride will follow a monorail going through Zootopia's 12 ecosystems using the same technology from Universal's Hogwarts Express.

Here's mine...

The Nature of Things: Based on the segment of "The Mickey Mouse Club", Jiminy Cricket takes you on a ride through the realm of the animal world, from the elephant to the camel. You'll learn many factoids about animals you may not have known about, as you are taken through the care facilities of Rafiki's Planet Watch. This is akin to the Living With the Land boat ride, but about animals rather than growing food.

Bonus: Located in Asia, "The Jungle Book - Mowgli's Adventure" comes in, structurally the same as the old Jungle Book show, but set up as a thrilling water flume ride.

Backstage Animalia
AK-Pmover.jpg

Many Animal Kingdom guests have wanted the chance to get a closer look at the park's behind-the-scenes animal care facilities, and a new attraction in the Planet Watch section affords guests that opportunity. Utilizing the WEDway Peoplemover technology from the Magic Kingdom, Backstage Animalia will take guests on a close-up tour, both indoors and out, of the veterinary labs and care centers of the park, illustrating the huge tasks required on a daily basis just to care, feed, and maintain the residents of the park. The fully narrated ten-minute tour will include all kinds of "backstage magic" as the cars pass underwater viewing areas and look down on young animal nurseries previously not on display, returning visitors where they board, near the petting zoo.

Bonus: The first Chinese Pandas ever to be displayed in Florida arrive in the Asia section of the park, preceded by a preshow in a theater that features clips from the DisneyNature "Born in China" film.

Animal Kingdom Discovery River Cruise

1524085780685.png

The Discovery River Cruise is a new outdoor boat ride attraction done similarly to Jungle Cruise (but taken more seriously) coming to the Planet Watch area.

This will feature ride down the river past animatronic versions of animals from around the world, the planet's prehistoric past, and animals that never truly existed.

This ride is dedicated to the original idea for Animal Kingdom of Animals that exist, animals that used to exist, and animals that never existed and will finally bring the magical, purple dragon Animal Kingdom was planned to have to life in grand fashion (Though with suspiciously familiar Orange Horns)!

BONUS

Pandora: The World of Avatar will be rethemed entirely around the new Disney Film IP coming 2021, Figment: Journey through Imagination, with a new ride based on the popular new IP to anchor the newly rethemed land.
