Jim Henson Studios

1523663615649.png

In Hollywood, The Jim Henson Company Studio is located just off of Sunset Boulevard on La Brea Ave. In Hollywood Studios, a miniature La Brea Ave will be created to make a replica version of the famous studio where the Muppets were made. Replacing the animation courtyard area, guests will follow a "tour guide" in a new walk-through attraction going through different parts of the studio.

Bonus:
A new show will be themed around a new Muppet themed stunt show around the idea of the Muppets making their latest and greatest Adventure movie!

Fantasmic: Dreams and Magic

OSP#5.jpg

Hollywood Studios has a tendency to cater to an older audience, both in rides to big for little kids and shows that are either too long or too late at night for kids to fully appreciate.

So, taking the place of the Beauty and the Beast stage area will be a new, family friendly trackless dark ride that will make the whimsy and wonder of Fantasmic a bit more accessible to younger children or families on a timelimit that can't stay for the later show.

Using the trackless system, the ride will go through a random sequence of rooms based on major plot points in Fantasmic, including a romance room, a villain take-over, and multiple odd dream-sequences hosted by Sorcerer Mickey making this a fun and unique spin of the classic show for guests of all ages.

Bonus: Replacing the Indiana Jones Stunt Show will be a Goofy's "How to make a Stunt Show" that will provide a more comedic take on stunt shows, and a more adventure filled plot of old Goofy's How To cartoons.

CHALLENGE 5
CRITIQUES

Before we review the Challenge #5 Proposals, we would like to say how impressed we are with everyone's proposals! They are all really great!

Every single proposal was unique in their own way, but three really stood out to us.

Also, the detail category has been renamed to “The Big Picture” due to the confusion over the “Detail” category and also that name fits what we want more. Also, please note that while those categories have factors in the medals, the main thing we choose is the concept.

Note from @Disneylover152 - Again, I am really sorry that I wasn’t able to post the reviews last night. Something came up and I needed to focus on that. But I am back!

Good luck to you all and we cannot wait to see what you all come up with next!

@DisneyFan18 with “Judy’s Wild Ride”
Disneylover152: Zootopia is a very welcome addition to the parks, and this dark ride seems like a great attraction for families. Dark rides are the only ride that everyone can ride, no matter their height or their nausea level (won’t explain how I know this). This attraction seems like a great addition to the park, and really immerses you in the movie of Zootopia by taking you on your own adventure solving a mystery. This fits the park like the shoe fitting Cinderella, but the exterior of the attraction, the Zootopia Police Station, doesn’t match with the Golden Age of Hollywood seen with the rest of Sunset Boulevard. The ride is a great ride, and I love that you are apart of the journey, but it doesn’t fit the theme of the Golden Age of Hollywood that it is, and without a theatre facade like Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, it would stand out like a sore thumb.

Bonus: I like the idea of a Marvel stunt show, and opening this continuously as a special summer experience (ala “Incredible Summer”) is a great idea! +1.

Disneylover152: The Golden Age of Hollywood is coming to life more! This great dark ride, again, very family friendly, is bringing the modern Mystic Manor attraction to life, while still fitting the theme of Hollywood Studios. I also love how you are following the theme Hollywood Studios has with recreating famous buildings in Hollywood in their park. And while keeping with the Golden Age of Hollywood, you also brought the story of a museum coming to life, literally to life. This is a great addition to Hollywood Studios that is sure to be welcomed. But where will it be located? Hopefully its an addition rather than a replacement! But this attraction fits thematically and seems fun! Great work!

Bonus: The Incredibles has yet to come to WDW, with the exception of the dance parties, and this stunt show seems like a great show that would be enjoyed by all ages. +1.

Disneylover152: Personally, I’m okay with Rock n’ Roller Coaster disappearing, especially for something more Disney and more friendly. This attraction brings both of those to life. Also, as an obsessive Disney Park fan, this attraction would be like heaven. It’s like the Great Movie Ride, with Disney rides. I love the attraction theme of discovering the Disney Vault, and encountering past rides and characters. This is sure to be popular. And it still fits the Hollywood theme, as you are getting a tour of Disney HQ, before getting lost in the vault. Great work that fits the theme of Hollywood Studios beautifully.

Bonus: While never seeing the movie “Air Bud”, this stunt show seems like a blast and worthy replacement to the long-dragged Indiana Jones stunt show. +1.

Disneylover152: A spinner, while not necessary in that park, would be a nice addition to have in the park, and the teacups are a great attraction to have in the park. And these aren’t just any teacups, these teacups have a story, which is really cool. It’s something that the Magic Kingdom ride doesn’t have. While the studio theme of the park is leaving, this studio theme doesn’t have to go away fully. Having the studio theme to this ride allows it to fit in the land it is in, Sunset Boulevard. And having the interactive fountain feature, maybe apart of an interactive queue, seems very nice! It also adds a water attraction to a park that has none currently! Very welcome addition on a hot Floridian Day. Great attraction, great work!

Bonus: Shanghai rides/shows are always welcome in Walt Disney World! +1.

@michmousefan with “Duck Tales’ Treasure Quest”
Disneylover152: Great incorporation of Duck Tales in the park, and this sounds like a fun family dark ride. I love the way you themed it to Hollywood by having you see some of the highlights of L.A. along the way, but still keeping the story of Duck Tales. This seems like a great attraction that will sure to bring in people to visit, especially fans of the show. And with a beautiful combination of AA’s and screens, it is sure to become a very modern, yet classic ride at that park. Very creative story and overall a great attraction that fits the theme of the park wonderfully!

Bonus: Marvel would be a welcome addition, and fits a stunt show really well. +1.

Disneylover152: Creating an original, non-IP dark ride sometimes isn’t easy, but you did it! This seems like a really great dark ride, and while not the highest technology, it’s still something worth riding. You took a really ugly, creepy dark ride and shifted it into this creation where you follow an actress on her journey in Hollywood, a really underused story I feel. It also has some elements of the Muppet Movie Ride, which is something I personally enjoy. Overall, this is a great attraction that both fits the theme of the park, and is entertaining. Also, love the Figment and Dreamfinder references as always...

Bonus: Aladdin is an interesting choice for a stunt show, but if done right, could be done well. +1.

Disneylover152: The Muppets have moved to another place in the park! While the studio park as mentioned earlier is falling into Yesterland, this attraction could stand on its own as it fits the theme of Sunset Boulevard. A Muppetfied Backlot Tour seems interesting and something worth experiencing. While this fits better in Grand Park, this mini-land still fits here, and it’s even an extension of the land, rather than just the tour. This is a great Muppet addition to the park, and I would love to experience it. Great work!

Bonus: A Muppet Stunt Show needs to happen… why hasn’t it happened yet? +1.

Disneylover152:
A Fantasmic attraction sounds really cool, and I’m surprised it hasn’t happened yet. It seems like a perfect fit for the WDSP expansion in Paris. And bringing the show to ride form for everyone to be able to experience is a really good idea, and something that can be replicated with Rivers of Light or Happily Ever After. And the villain’s room would be so cool! I could just imagine a 360 experience with Maleficent and Mickey battling each other. Great work bringing this show to life as an attraction.

Bonus: Goofy seems like a perfect fit for a stunt show, especially if everything goes wrong! +1.

Challenge 5 Results!
There were an absolute ton of quality proposals, making it really hard trying to select and rank the best.

A great idea alone is worth a lot in One Sentence Competition. So is a well-presented proposal. Our top finishers boasted a combo of each, and in such a crowded field many medal-worthy entries are sadly going unrewarded.
