You have just made your way around Disneyland Resort! Now it’s time to take it to Orlando. You are now welcomed into Magic Kingdom!

This magical realm with 6 lands is a must-see in Walt Disney World. Imagineers, you are here with a mission to build something for the Magic Kingdom!

-Background Information-

The Rivers of America area opened with the park in 1971. Since then, another attraction opened on the island the rivers surround, Tom Sawyers Island. The island has been a playground for children of all ages. It's the only place in the park parents could let their children run loose and not have to worry about them. After all there is only one entrance and exit. But after 45+ years of enjoyment, it’s time has come for an update. After all, Disneyland gots its update, when is Disney World getting theirs.

-Challenge-

Give Tom Sawyer’s Island and the Rivers of America a new experience to be added. Whether it’s a new show scene for the river boat like Disneyland, or a new show to be placed on the island. Change the theme of the island! Anything! The Sky’s the limit. Your only requirements are that the river has to exist, and the island has to exist. You have the freedom to change the layout of the River or the Island. And by this we mean, you can reroute the river if something is to big to fit on the current island, or if you would like to add a scene to the river. Have fun!

-Bonus-

With the Main Street USA Theatre reportedly getting cancelled, add something new to the area it was supposed to go where the theatre was gonna go- HERE. Write in one sentence.

-Rules-

You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 image. The deadline is Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 8:59pm EST. Critiques will come following.

-Tips-

K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please!

-Judging Criteria-

Creativity- Is it creative?
Detail- Do you make the most of your sentences allotted? Do I understand what your submission is about?
Realism- Is it (generally) realistic? Is it something Disney will/could build? Are there patents related to your submission?
Theme- Does it fit thematically? Does it fit visually?
Originality- Is it original?
Effort- Is effort shown?

-Reminders-

This prompt will be a points prompt. As a reminder, everyone who submits something as well as follows the rules will get 1 point. 3 awards are given for each challenge. The three awards are Bronze (+1 points), Silver (+2 points), and Gold (+3 points). Everyone who submits gets a point, but Bronze, Silver, and Gold winners get additional points.

Reminder that prompts are due at 8:59pm EST. Reviews come at 11pm EST with the next prompt coming at Midnight EST.

Follow the rules, posted here!

Good luck everyone! If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Now go imagineer!

The infamous "Red Gun" bandit gang own a secret island where they store things such as loot. You are the first non-bandit to find this island (via underground tunnel), you're armed with only a pistol. The Red Gun doesn't respect outsiders, so try to escape them in this all new immersive, interactive walk-through attraction.

Bonus: Penny Arcade, that is all.

The Gracey Mausoleum

GM.png

As part of the 50 enhancements that will be coming to the Walt Disney World Resort for its 50th Anniversary, which will be taking place in 2021, Tom Sawyer’s Island will be closing in Spring 2019 to make way for a brand new spooktacular attraction themed around the Haunted Mansion; The Gracey Mausoleum is set to open in Fall 2020.

The Gracey Mausoleum promises to be one of the most exhilarating experiences that guests can enjoy at the Magic Kingdom, or at least that’s what we can tell from Liberty Hollow’s most popular legend that says that once you enter, the infamous HatBox Ghost will do everything in his power to keep you from leaving, because there’s something hidden he doesn’t want to be found, and he’ll go as far as destroying the front gate to guarantee that there will be no way out, unless you’re feeling adventurous, and decide to navigate through the maze formed out of catacombs below the Haunted Mansion; get ready to uncover some of the Haunted Mansion’s darkest secrets in this paranormal experience!

Additionally, by closing Tom Sawyer’s Island, two new scenes will be added to Rivers of America, which promise to make it an even better experience, the first will be located in front of the Haunted Mansion, and will revolve around some friendly ghost who are claiming you promised to take them home, and the second one will be in front of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which will take you to a settlement within the Thunder Mesa, as some cowboys try to sort out their differences in a duel!

Bonus:
We’re sad to announce that the Main Street Theater project has cancelled, but it isn’t as bad as it sounds, as in its place Litwak’s Arcade will be developed, where a Wreck-It Ralph themed attraction will be waiting for you; Sugar Rush Racers will open in Fall 2022.

Campfire Theatre at Tom Sawyer's Island
1522426337880.png

Near Aunt Polly's, guests will find a new makeshift looking wooden cabin. Inside this cabin is a campfire theatre, much like the one above, but perpetually twilight with a permanently glowing campfire and night time forest sound effects. The 'Storyteller' will use minimal but creative use of actors, props and limited practical effects to retell American Folktales and Campfire Stories such as Paul Bunyan and Johnny Appleseed, with a special showing of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow for Halloween.

The Bonus - Cherry Tree Lane
The area meant for the new theatre becomes Cherry Tree Lane, a mini-land themed to Mary Poppins complete with dark ride and restaurant.

Okay, here is my inclusion for this project:

Land of Heroes: The Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island are reduced in space to accommodate, with bridges to and from the river, the Riverboat being permanently docked and made a restaurant, and the keelboats now going along again to compensate. The reason is a new land is being added called Land of Heroes, based on an abandoned concept for Disneyland. This is dedicated to American Folklore and Tall Tales featuring attractions based on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, The Ballad of Windwagon Smith, and a Paul Bunyan restaurant.

Bonus: Mickey's Magical Madcap Mania: Based on @MANEATINGWREATH's concept for a dark ride with Magician Mickey Mouse, as an extension of sorts of the Town Square Theater, but with the addition not only of Goofy, but of Donald Duck, too.

Muppet's Treasure Island

9319_5.jpg

After the success of Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island in Disneyland, a re-theme is being added to Walt Disney World's Tom Sawyer Island, with a twist.

Themed after the film of the same name, Muppet Treasure Island is designed to allow guests of young and old to relive moments throughout the film as if the Hispaniola (their ship) docked on the island.

Throughout the island, guests can find all sorts of Muppet-fied Pirate activities including a photo-op with the pirate's treasure (including a Rizzo Animatronic), Pirate Sam's General Store, Beaker and Bunsen's Pirate Adventures, Gonzo's Sunken Treasure (guests pull on a rope and "Gonzo" holding a treasure chest exclaiming how he got one before falling back in to the water similar to the Capstan Wheel seen at DLR's TSI), and more!

Bonus:
Due to having lost its place in DHS, a new style Opera House will be added in this area to put the Art of Animation similar to how Hong Kong Disneyland has theirs on Main Street.

Nature's Wonderland Cave Tour
cave-tour.png

It has recently been discovered that substantial mineral deposits lie in and under Tom Sawyer's caves, and as a result, esteemed professor and entrepreneur Elias J. Quartz has developed a new steampunk-themed ride capable of taking adventurous souls on a journey to see these wonders for themselves: After arriving on the south island, guests will board suspended coaster trains and launch through the woods to the north island, where they will follow a winding, rollicking track through two elaborate show buildings with dazzling gems, cave paintings, stalagmites, and a few family-friendly surprise thrills along the way (you may meet a family of bears along your trip). A second launch will power the trains back to the station, where guests can enjoy the newly enhanced dining options on the island and of course the inevitable ride exit gift shop. The river-side facing exteriors of the two show buildings will feature flowing mountain-like cascades & waterfalls for the riders of the steamboat to enjoy.

Bonus: the area slated for the theater becomes Walt's once-imagined Edison Square.

Trials of the Ranger
Survival-Shelter-2.jpg

The north section of the island will be converted into a walk through attraction where guests learn the basics of surviving in the wilderness, by watching your tour guide show and explain different scenes.

Watch your tour guide (dressed in uniforms that resemble boy scouts, and is given the loving name 'Scout') explain how and where to construct a shelter in the wilderness from a tree that fell during a storm, different types of edible wildlife, and other tricks to surviving in the wilderness.

This expansion maintains the adventure of Tom Sawyer Island, while turning it into an educative experience for the whole family.

Bonus: In it's place, Flynn's will be build, which will serve as both an arcade and direct transportation to Tomorrowland's new Tron attraction.

Villains Cove

OSP#3.jpg

In a complete change from the realistic natural woods of Tom Sawyers Island, we change into a cartoon nightmare where villains prowl and signs remind you to turn back, while you still can.

The house of Mouse Villains invites you to dine with such Villains as Hades, Captain Hook, Maleficent and more as you enjoy your meal; they might even take pictures and sign autographs for those brave enough to ask.

As for rides and attractions we have Facilier's frenzy, which is a dizzying mix of a teacup spinner ride, and a trackless dark ride that will take you though this world and the other side in a dark black-lit haze; Maleficent's Dragon drop as a high speed coaster; and an interactive walk-through of the Jolly Rodger.

Bonus: The area behind Main Street will be used as a mini Toon Town because literally why is there no Toon Town at WDW I am so confused.

So, I realize this is way late and I in no way expect or want any points for it. But I thought I'd share my idea for that last round that I ran out of time on and never posted before moving on to work on this current round. Just for fun

Hollywoodland Studios

rnxtNX11AGvoJ-iBaAS4Hsg-DVXtkWFH4ckXvNHzUvZuN_kQN3x10aGUDJeOU8X26jUhxNvq2FqxR7YaGSVY5V2PzEvUsQory1rBXncrEgG9Yo9aFmRx0vMQrp33EKoFFN-9Le71

Hollywoodland will be rethemed and entirely revamped into Hollywoodland Studios, a new studio themed around Disney’s live action productions as a nice complement to Disneyland’s heavy focus on the animated Disney films next door and an extension of the idea of California Adventure being focused on the more grown up side of Disney.

The big new E-Ticket anchor is an updated version of the Great Movie Ride (Being built over the northern section of the land)taking guests on a unique tour through classic live action films by Disney, Lucasfilm (though no star wars), Marvel Studios (though nothing included in Marvel Land), Touchstone Pictures, and (depending on upcoming legal rulings) Fox that will follow the same basic format of the original version, but with a shorter ride time and a heavier focus on screens that can be easily updated for new movies.

Two new shows will also be added with Disney Channel Live! replacing the Disney Jr. show as a stage show where live actors and musicians perform a tribute to scenes and songs from Disney Channel live action sitcoms and movie and the Pirates of the Caribbean Stunt Show that will blend actual action and stunts with the behind the scenes explanations of them similar to the Indiana Jones Stunt Show in Hollywood Studios.

The Spark of Cinema Walk through will be very similar to the Animation Building currently there except rethemed to the production of live action films and special effects with Figment as your host explaining all the creative and imaginative methods used for film making, and the ABC cafe will be a quick service very similar to the ABC commissary in Hollywood Studios except with more heavy theming of dining on the sets of hit ABC shows.

Lastly, Marry Poppins Jolly Holiday will be an all new D-Ticket dark ride themed to Mary Poppins blending elements of the classic film and the upcoming sequel.

BONUS

A new family oriented nighttime dance party will be added to Pixar Pier during the summer celebration called Partysaurus Rex’s Dance-tastic Celebration loosely based on the Partysaurus Rex short and co-starring Figment because he had a cameo in Inside Out and is therefore a Pixar character.

Imagination Isle

1522716248252.png

Tom Sawyer Island will be rethemed as an island slice of Figment’s world of imagination and feature a tie in comic set in the Fiment/Dreamfinder comic universe and a meet and greet with the comic versions of Dreamfinder and Figment

It will be full of small scale interactive elements and creative visual gags/optical illusion similar to the Gardens of Wonder in Hong Kong Disneyland mixed with an outdoor version of the original Image Works.

Visually, from afar this land will keep a very similar visual style so as not to disrupt the sight lines from Frontierland and Liberty Square, but once on the island there are a lot more colors and gardens and interesting visual elements.

BONUS

A new film themed to the Figment will go into the theater to further develop the Dreamfinder/Figment mythology and its connection to Tomorrowland

This sounds really cool! I want to hear more about it!
Thanks! Basically my only real thoughts was things like green screen stuff and props to take pictures with. An updated version of the old image works exhibit where Dreamfinder helps insert you into movies. Something along the lines of the old preshow from Backlot Tour. Bunch of things like that
