CHALLENGE 3
CRITIQUES

Before we review the Challenge #3 Proposals, we would like to say how impressed we are with everyone's proposals! They are all really great!

Every single proposal was unique in their own way, but remember, only three really stood out to us.

Also, unfortunately due to scheduling issues, @DisneyForever was not able to write reviews for all of the submissions, so some reviews may not have reviews from him. But, @Disneylover152 was able to write reviews for each of you!

Good luck to you all and we cannot wait to see what you all come up with next!

@FireMountain with “Bandit’s Hideout”
Disneylover152: I love those Escape rooms at the malls where you have to try to solve your way out of the room, and this sounds like a theme park version of that. I love how you are “living your own adventure”, which is something that Disney has been doing in their parks lately, with Pandora and the upcoming Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge themed lands. This is really great work, and it’s seems like a great attraction to bring people to this otherwise dead island. My only concern is that Disney is very anti-gun now, so them adding an attraction where you have to escape with a gun may not something they would build. But this is very creative and original, and it fits the theme of Frontierland really well. I would love to have more detail next time, and to really picture what the adventure will be. Really great work!

DisneyForever: This sounds like you are turning Tom Sawyer’s Island into a mystery attraction. I’d love to know more, a lot more! This could be something fun to replace Tom Sawyer’s Island, and maybe the Shootin’ Arcade could be moved here. How would we get our guns, though? I can only imagine getting a toy pistol via cast members at the entrance. This is a fun theme, with Frontierland and all. It’s original, but there’s not a whole lot of detail. I can see you put some time into it, I mean how would you think up of what you wrote, copy it? Overall, your proposal seems interesting, but it’s a little bland.

Bonus: A penny arcade might be a bit small in the space, but it would be nice to have one! +1

@DisneyFan18 with “The Gracey Mausoleum”
Disneylover152: The hatbox ghost is back! I love how you connected the story of the Island to its surroundings, especially the Haunted Mansion. I’m assuming the island will now be apart of Liberty Square, with the boat dock moving to that land as well. This sounds like a really great experience (walkthrough?) for the island, and it will definitely be popular the whole year, especially Halloween. The story sounds really cool, and it seems like a more family friendly version of Halloween Horror Nights. This is a really creative and original attraction to be added, and I love it! Your proposal has the perfect amount of detail and I could really see Disney add this to one of their parks, even if its just a temporary Halloween attraction! Great work!

DisneyForever: This is a great use of Tom Sawyer’s Island, seeing as though it is right next to the Haunted Mansion. It seems you’ve used the Disney Parks Blog format, which adds a nice little touch. By introducing the Hatbox Ghost back, this proposal really adds things to the Magic Kingdom. And, you’ve gone above and beyond to add new scenes for the Rivers of America, so that gives you a great reputation! I can envision in my head the Thunder Mesa cowboys dueling it out! This is great use of Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America. It’s original, aside from the fact about using the Haunted Mansion, it’s got great detailing, and it would give Magic Kingdom a great experience it deserves!

Bonus: Sugar Rush on Main Street? Not sure how that fits turn of the century America, but you did the bonus! +1

@v_k with “Campfire Theatre at Tom Sawyer’s Island”
Disneylover152: While others are bringing elaborate attractions to Tom Sawyer’s Island, you are bringing something small and charming to the island. I like the theme of storytellers sharing folktales and it sees like a really great addition to the island. It’s definitely something Disney fans would love to see, and I could actually see it built in Disneyland at Big Thunder Trail as well. This is a very original concept and it is something Disney could realisticly build on their island. They don’t even have to build things, they could just retrofit (their favorite thing) the now defunct restaurant! Really great work that fits the theme of the island perfectly.

DisneyForever: The theatre gives something that Tom Sawyer’s Island needs! I love how you put it in a makeshift log cabin, so that the showings can go on daily. I also enjoy how you incorporated The Legend of Sleepy Hollow just for Halloween. Is the “Storyteller” a person, or animatronic? Either would be cool! As there is detail, I’m at the edge of my seat wanting to know more! It’s an original concept, one that I could see happening at Tom Sawyer’s Island! It’s lacking a few details, but I can still imagine what it could be like! This theatre gives Tom Sawyer an upgrade, which is perfect and totally fine by me!

Bonus: Cherry Tree Lane? Why not! Mary Poppins is really under represented in the parks, and this seems like a fun addition. +1

@mharrington with “Land of Heros”
Disneylover152: Wow, I love this idea of the Land of Heros, it sounds really cool, and I’m all for filling in part of the river to add more capacity to the Magic Kingdom. It sounds similar to another prompt but this one is a full land! This seems like a really amazing land that would eat up a lot of guests, as well as be fun to walk around. I’m okay with the rivers to be shortened, as well as Tom Sawyer’s Island reducing in size, but I don’t really love the idea of the riverboat being docked permanently. The restaurant sounds cool, and I would love for a restaurant on the boat, just I don’t want it to be docked! But this idea is very creative and interesting. A little more detail would be appreciated, but great work, even though you borrowed ideas from a previous concept.

DisneyForever: Oh, yes! This sounds like a great new land that I would love to see come to fruition! I don’t particularly like the Riverboat being permanently docked, (This is where @DisneyForever stopped)

Bonus: A great addition to the Magic Kingdom. Sounds like an American version of Mystic Manor! +1.

@AceAstro with “Muppet’s Treasure Island”
Disneylover152: The Muppets have taken over Tom Sawyer’s Island now! I’m probably in the minority, but I love the idea of a Pirate themed island taking over Tom Sawyer’s Island, and the Muppets just bring some more fun to the island. This sounds like a very fun place to spend those crowded afternoons with plenty of things to do to entertain both the young and old. This is a very creative and original idea, even being based off of an IP. Your proposal is great too, with just the right amount of detail. It fits the theme of the Magic Kingdom as well! I would love to see this come to life!

Bonus: The Art of Animation sounds like a great addition to Main Street, especially since it was a fan favorite at Hollywood Studios! +1.

@michmousefan with “Nature’s Wonderland Cave Tour”

Disneylover152: This sounds like something Tom Sawyer’s Island desperately needs. A E-ticket roller coaster that fits the theme of Magic Kingdom beautifully, some restaurants, a place to shop, and more. The roller coaster sounds like a really interesting ride, and something I would love to ride. It seems like a perfect blend of thrills and the touches Disney creates that we love. The cave scenes sound really amazing with cool effects, and I would love to see a collapsing cave in addition. The waterfalls added to the Rivers of America would really breath life into the back of the Rivers. This is a very creative and original project that fits the them like a gem! Great detail and I would love for Disney to build this! Amazing work!

Bonus: Edison Square sounds like a great miniland off of Main Street, and it sure would be a welcomed side street to transport us to a different time period! +1.

@kmbmw777 with “Trials of the Ranger”
Disneylover152: This seems like a great addition to the Magic Kingdom, bringing some educational experiences to a park that doesn’t have as much like the other parks do. I love the Boy Scout theme to the island, and it seems like a fun experience. Hopefully it would have some interactive experiences, like a tunnel in the tree, to entertain us while we learn. Other than that, this seems like a creative original walkthrough to be added to the island. Not sure if it would get people to travel to the island, but it is an addition to the island, so why not! Great work!

Bonus: The theme of Tron doesn’t fit with Main Street a lot, but you completed the bonus! +1.

@pixie_princess with “Villains Cove”
Disneylover152: A villains land is something needed at the Magic Kingdom. The island is a great place for that. It sounds like a cool theme, and I would love for it to have a “hidden island” theme where its like a hideout for the villains. It sounds as if there is no more riverboat anymore, which depresses me. The riverboat is one of my favorite parts of the Magic Kingdom. But this new island sounds like such an original idea that would surely give Magic Kingdom an attendance spike. We all like those villains. These attractions sound really fun too! This is such a creative proposal that I love! Great attractions, a great theme, and the right amount of detail! Great work!

Bonus: I miss Toontown Fair a lot, thank you for bringing it back, lol. +1.

@Pionmycake with “Imagination Isle”
Thanks for submitting your prompt from last week, even though it's a little late! It shows your dedication to the project. This goes to everyone. If you weren’t able to submit something, just do it late! You may not get points, but it shows us how dedicated you are!

Disneylover152: Yay Figment! I love that purple thing! A comic world added to the island seems like such a fun addition to the Magic Kingdom. I’m sure people would go visit it! And interactive elements in the parks are always welcomed! Bringing Imageworks back is a great idea as well! I can’t wait to meet Figment and Dreamfinder as well! The Imagination Pavilion is my second-favorite Future World pavilion, after The Seas. But, this sounds like a conflicting theme with the Imagination Pavilion in the theme park just a monorail away, so as original as I would like. But with the theme of it rumored to be changing, this sure wouldn’t be a problem! Great work, and while not as original as hoped, the attraction is creative and you put a lot of effort into the island.

Bonus: Assuming this is a part of Tomorrowland and not Main Street, great work! As mentioned before, I love Figment! +1.

Challenge 3 Results!
There were an absolute ton of quality proposals, making it really hard trying to select and rank the best.

A great idea alone is worth a lot in One Sentence Competition. So is a well-presented proposal. Our top finishers boasted a combo of each, and in such a crowded field many medal-worthy entries are sadly going unrewarded.
