I have enough Hyatt points to cover my two weeks in Japan and I can fly first class on miles. Now I just need the darn borders to open up.

Replace Hyatt with Hilton and same here. At least the Tokyo Parks are likely to survive. I’m hoping I can see Disneyland Paris before it goes downhill again.

I was attacked by an ******* guest, guest denied and claimed self defense, Disney proceeded to not investigate and instead terminated my employment based off of a false accusation.

I finished my bachelors in hospitality, left the country, went back to school, did a bachelors in graphic design, started my career, did a masters in advertising, returned to the stats, and am a passholder and shareholder now.
Sadly....I’m familiar with that story (modified)

“No means NO!”...except if you work for Disney and somebody is stressed out cause it’s 93 degrees and they laid $10,000 for the week.

Next year's travels were.

Europe B- Trip (Barcelona, Brussels, Berlin, and Boras (small town in Sweden we have friends in).
South America - Chile, Argentina, Uruguay

Now if we're lucky, next year's travels will actually be... getting out of Dade County.
I was supposed to be on a plane to Berlin Thursday for a Baltic cruise now I'm flying to Orlando. I wouldn't mind another Disney trip this Winter if only they were selling annual passes.

I still have 2.5 weeks in Northern Europe slated for August...but who am I kidding?

This year's trip was:

2 days in London
10 days in Scandinavia. Fly London to Oslo, buy beater car (we had arranged for a lifted AWD Hyundai H1 diesel van for about $400 that still worked well enough for a 10 day road trip), then road trip through Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
1 more day in London

Again.. go back to the original post. The poster claimed "But I also reject the notion that everyone should trade in pursuing their dreams in favor of something they don't enjoy just because it is a safer choice"

Just because it's your dream - it doesn't negate reality. Dream jobs aren't necessarily practical... as the other poster who mentioned their art passion so simply illustrated.

Many people let 'dreams' cloud their judgement and get burned. That is on the individual.... now burn me at the stake for saying people have the responsibility to look before they leap.
My parents always told me you don't need to like your job, but you need to make enough money to do the things you like. I envy people that can do their dream job and make good money at it. Most of us work to live not live to work. That being said I do get a lot of satisfaction from being able to pay my bills, save money, and take vacations.

My wedding in Italy this year (May) was canceled. The venue I dont believe has returned the money to my in laws. We had also planned on maybe a Japan trip in October.

It was very sad canceling my vacation around April when it became clear the world was going to hell and there would be no wedding. We punted it to next May but havent even taken a second to plan further. Its just not worth the effort right now.

We travel a lot so this has been very difficult for my fiancees mental health. I know it sounds extremely first world problems but planning trips and traveling for her is really something she loves. And now...well we've essentially been home for 4 months and counting.

I got up and almost got away. A few manager types stopped me in the middle of the showroom to find out what happened. I also didn’t have keys to either car, so I’m not sure what my plan would have been had they not stopped me 😂
I got up, was in my car driving away and the salesman ran to catch me. Appreciated the effort but as I told him, you should have made that effort when we were sitting across from each other at the desk.

A lot has happened in the last few weeks..what’s your thoughts on this now?
(Seriously)
Nothing that's happened over the last few weeks gives me any clue to what's going to be happening a year from now. It really is a long way off. I know the world cannot survive with everything closed off forever. I try not to let my mind go through all the doom and gloom scenarios.

Yes.

To this day, I have a memory burned in my head of one of my colleagues. This was in 2003. He was a character performer, and worked in Disney Character Events, which are the character performers who appear in press, do events off site and travel a lot for the company.

One day I worked an event with him, and he mentioned that with his per diems from traveling, and on average working 60 hours per week the previous year, he earned $43k.

43 grand... for basically giving your life away to the company. And he was already maxed out at the top of the pay scale.

No thanks.
DCE shifts are usually one or two sets, get the 4 hour minimum, and are the plumb assignments. They did well

We've had to proceed with chargebacks on everything, since airlines and hotels were dragging their feet.

So far, the only pending chargeback is from American Airlines. We already have our money back, but they have until August 5 to respond. Hopefully they don't, and I win the dispute by default.

He was full time DCE in a good height range and traveled a lot for the company. I only ever saw him doing things in the parks once or twice, plus one year he got cast in the Christmas parade.
