On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

That was an “intellectual drive by”...school yard tactics. Make your opinion know in 5 words and then tell others to shut up in one breath.

Nothing inventive.

How about this one:

“I think Bob Iger runs a human traffic ring out of the kitchen of Mystic Pizza in Van Nuys...but you’ll have to find another thread if you have an opinion on it. Now back to attendance.”

Doesn’t work...really at all.

FYI...I was kidding about the pizza...don’t start a google search. 😱
How many times can you post the same thing over and over and be wrong everytime? Apparently a lot. I’ll leave the dozen posters on here to their echo chamber.

I posted the mgm resorts link earlier...there are key points unsaid in there.

Layoffs for real...benefits kept through 9/30.

That’s 10/1...which is still largely under the radar.

Disney...to their credit...has stated a 12/31 endpoint on bennies. That’s at least something.
What are people waiting for? Get your health checks, medical / dental procedures done now before one loses health benefits after 10/1.

The bigger issue for me is focus - the 20% group are the lower to mid execs like VP's or SVP's who will have the bulk of the downsizing work on their plates. Disney and similar travel/hospitality companies will need to lose tens of thousands of employees to better cost set to the new revenue reality. Those eliminated jobs are at the front lines and in lower management such as managers, directors, senior directors, etc. That is where there are several layers and the VP/SVP levels will have the burden of eliminating positions wholesale. Cutting a few exec salaries temporarily for optics (which does nothing to the bottom line) of the very people who will own the heavy lifting of the downsizing effort never makes any sense and certainly doesn't make the thousands of fired employees feel better.
What's hard to swallow is that a number of cast members are still in furlough, but the execs in the company who had their salaries cut 20-30% in March just got their full salaries back in line. When the hammer really comes down, there could be more homes and used cars in the market for sale and pawn shops doing brisk business in Orlando as furloughed and laid off people scramble to sell their possessions to gain some cash. Some of these execs just might be joining the unemployment line.

Too many other things in this world to get upset about. To each his/her own. I would just agree to disagree.

Yup and yup. They love to argue about things that are not provable but political and they are so absolute in their convictions because they read it in a blog vs using their brain's analytical side.
Sad but true , the internet has turned most on the internet into absolutists because they feel that they are anonymous and do not have to make their idiotic statements to someones face. Twitter , facebook.....unfortunately the Disney forums as well.

People mocking other businesses for their crunching tatics, what do you think is going to happen/who is going to go back first when things start to become healthier with touristm again? Who is going to come back first, the complete list of part time/full time furloughed who were going to get their recently agreed on pay raise scheduele? Or the College Programers who save the company and provide an income for the company that they would really love to have without ever having to give them a raise?

I don’t expect to see cast numbers back to those of even a year ago.

...people don’t account/plan well enough for that and you know that...

I would bet the ranch that the $600 a week is long gone now...hopefully not to Bezoe (but likely)

But hey...did anyone see the “payroll tax” thing? 🙄

Oh brother...I wish we could go over that doozy. But nothing non-hilarious or appropriate will come of it. 😂

I don’t ever see them back to that level...to be honest.

It’s a gangly beast they’ve been trying to tame since AT LEAST the year 1999. I can verify that. But I was told that it started no later than the early 90’s in reality.

I don't post on here enough to even come close.
Cool...and that’s why I leave you alone. We’re not on the same wavelength. Different strokes.

I do this while I work on projects...it’s a diversion in the background.

It was the “enough said” that got me - admittedly. Seems like an odd stance for a discussion board

There’s no irony at all, melo

I will do the same things at times and catch myself or take a callout on the nose. No question it happens.

Dispelling covid or political myths in the last few months deserves it - to be honest - if that’s what your shakespearian post is alluding to.

Truth is more important than opinion in this time. And there absolutely is a difference.

I was speaking to your comment regarding “enough said” and this being forum...but thank you for the compliment this being a “Shakespearean” post.

It was in reference to the comment people shouldn't travel to Florida, Disney shouldn't be open...blah, blah, blah. That's pretty much been debated every which way possible over the last 5 months. WDW is open....now if we could just have Disneyland open and cruises restart.
