Ohana Question

I have an ADR for Ohana at 5:15pm during our October trip. I'm trying to find something later as it would cut into our day with us not getting the park hopper option.

Is this a "romantic" dinner or just fun with their being entertainment there? I've never been as was looking at this to be one of our romantic meals.

The meal is served family style, a waitress brings most of the meal but the cooked meats are delivered to the table directly from the fire pit.
The only entertainment I remember is for the children, a Hula lesson and a coconut race with the kids sweeping the coconut along the floor.
The flood was good, dessert being excellent! I wouldn't call it romantic, I would recommend California Grille or Citroco's for romance.

Ohana is not even remotely romantic. It is a character meal which will mean quite a few kids, characters and kid based entertainment. That being said the food is very good and it is a fun place to eat but it is not the place that I would attempt to woo my dinner guest at. California Grill, Narcoossee's or Victoria and Albert's would be much better suited for a romantic dinner.

Ditto. Ohana is probably one of the most popular restaurants at the World because of the awesome food. But I wouldn't use it for a romantic dinner. CG, Citricos, Narcoosees, even Yachtsmans would be good. Of course, if you cN afford and even get a ressie, Victoria and Alberts would probably be the best for a romantic dinner. Enjoy!

It's not really romantic, but it is a nice atmosphere.
When we ate there in Sept. 2008, there was a lady dressed in Polynesian clothing - she was singing & playing the ukulele.
She even did a few songs & danced w/ the kids in the restaurant.
This is my favorite place to eat at WDW! :slurp:

The location, the view (assuming you're sitting with a view of the castle) and the lighting are romantic enough. But you'll be surrounded by families, which is the crowd to whom Ohanas caters. And to be honest, while we've eaten there a few times, we didn't the last time we went to WDW, because the time prior, we found the food quality to have suffered. I'm sure one day we'll try it again, but we're not in any rush.

I will say this, though, but its just a hunch. If you can get re-hee-heeeeallly late dinner reservations, the odds are oh-so-slightly better that the mood will be more romantic.

Agree with everyone. Delicious, beautuiful views and fun. It has it all. But 4 a romantic meal I'd go to the above mentioned places. Cali Grille during the fireworks would be nice or Narcoossee's.

Dinner is not a character dining place as previously posted. It is very crowded with many families, meaning much noise. You can also expect to wait even though you have an ADR. We went here for our engagement dinner, got a table facing MK, watched wishes and made it special. It can be romantic if you takew the time to wlak the grounds and take it all in, if just going straight to dinner, it will be annoying, as kids are all over, even in the bar chairs where it should be just for adults.

I went there on my honeymoon thinking it would be romantic, and it really wasn't. But we still had a lot of fun there. The hula dancer came to our table several times, and kept trying to get us to stand up & do a "honeymooners" dance. We really just wanted to eat - we're rather shy people. So I wouldn't recommend it if romance is what you're going for - but the food is very good, and it's a fun environment.

If you do end up eating there, it is romantic to go watch the fireworks from the beach after. We found it to be rather deserted on the left hand side of the beach, and thought it was one of the most romantic things we did. :)

I have to agree.

We didn't eat there last time, and when booking my ADRs for August, the kids said skip it again.

The food was not impressive, and service was pretty shoddy.

As far as romantic is concerned, as for a table near the windows, or as far away from the parade path as possible. That should help quite a bit. (But it still is not romantic)
