I think it's very sweet that you're making the veil for your future DIL. :)

Having never made a bridal veil in my life, I can only imagine how much work is involved. However, I think that the women meant their remarks as compliments. You must be doing a great job if you are continuing your tradition for a third time.

The worst of the work is doing the beading itself. My eyes can't tke it for very long.
I'm sure they meant it as a compliment, but I was just really unerved about it all - that one woman was just sooo pushy.
Anyway, I made my daughter's because, well, she's my daughter and I love her. My niece's mom passed away when she was quite young, and her grandmother who raised her passed when she was in college, so I'm kind of the substitute there, and my daughter-in-law's family is "different", so this was kind of my way of welcoming her in.

That's awesome. My mother in law didn't welcome me in until we had kids. Now we're pretty close - everyone always says that if Glenn and I ever split she'd keep ME in the family.

Do you have one of those magnifying lenses to bead under?

Looking at my post from yesterday, and I guess I over-reacted. I'm a rather private person, and I guess I just didn't expect that.
Anyway, I'm a jerk, I admit it.

We went to see Argo today at the dollar movies. It was excellent. Even though you knew how it would turn out, it kept you on the edge of your seat.

I don't think you over-reacted - it's uncomfortable having people gush over something you weren't planning on sharing in the first place. Were you able to find a solution to the comb issue?

We are planning to watch Argo this weekend. I'm definitely looking forward to it. Now if I could only find the popcorn and popcorn maker in the kitchen boxes I would be all set!!

'Zombie' to the Rescue - Saves Times Square Cat

By KIERAN CROWLEY and NATALIE O’NEILL

It took a zombie to bring this cat back from the dead. A Times Square performer rescued a runaway tuxedo cat — named Disaster — from a busy intersection, wrapping up the feline’s two-year trek from Long Island to Midtown. The undead actor then returned the pet to his shocked cop owner, who called Disaster “the James Bond of cats.” Jeremy Zelkowitz, 22, who plays a zombie for the year-round haunted house Times Scare, scooped the frightened 5-year-old feline off 42nd Street on Saturday and took him to a nearby veterinary clinic. “I’m just glad I could help, but the whole situation was pretty bizarre,” said Zelkowitz, who moved to Midtown after Hurricane Sandy destroyed his home in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. The zombie got off work at around 1 a.m. and spotted Disaster running around the Crossroads of the World. A car nearly crushed the cat, which then tried to take shelter at a Dallas BBQ and a Starbucks. “He was obviously a house cat. He seemed really scared,” Zelkowitz said. Zelkowitz caught Disaster and took him to BluePearl Veterinary Partners on West 55th Street — where he checked in sporting makeup appropriate for “Night of the Living Dead.” Workers were “a little freaked out” at first, but soon learned the zombie was there to help the cat — and not devour their brains. Vets scanned the pet’s microchip and found his owner, NYPD Officer James Helliesen, 51. The officer, who works in the 79th Precinct in Bedford-Stuyvesant, said he first thought the whole thing was a prank. “I was stunned. I assumed someone in the neighborhood had taken him in,” he said of Disaster’s 15-mile journey from Helliesen’s Woodmere home. “I don’t know how he made it to Manhattan — he’s the James Bond of cats. “I guess he wanted to see the bright lights and the big city.” He first met the cat — a friendly stray who was often seen around the station house — about 2 1/2 years ago. But too many cats started to congregate near the station, and Disaster ended up at a shelter, where Helliesen rescued him from “cat death row,” he said. He named the cat Disaster because the precinct motto at the time was “Flirting with Disaster.” The cat ran away after Helliesen’s wife left a window open. Helliesen is looking for someone to adopt Disaster, who survived his long ordeal with only a beat-up ear. “I figure he’s got three or four lives left,” Helliesen said.

You did not over-react. That woman was way out of line.

And weird. Who does that? Ask strangers to make stuff for them?!

So I was walking the dog at 2AM last night and he heard a noise and I couldn't help wondering if the zombies were coming. *shudders*

It's sunny and going to be close to 70 today. :D

OK so why can't anything ever be easy? Last night I heard gurgling from the cesspool. When they came to pump it they said the cover is cracked. We may need to replace the cover, or possibly the whole thing. It's SO MUCH FUN to spend money on unexpected things!!! I guess it could have been worse - I could have heard the gurgling at 2AM walking the dog and thought they zombies were rising...
