Oh, those poor Ingalls girls...

I actually didn't notice any minty freshness as I breathed - I think I must have swallowed it. As a side note, I still have a weird pain in my ribs on the left side that I am actually attributing to the whooping cough vaccine my doctor thought prudent I get, and not the mint I may or may not have inhaled.

How's the weather up there? We had upper 70's today. Of course it drizzled rain all day too, so it wasn't very pleasant.

It's actually been in the 40's-mid 50's most of the week - break out those shorts. It's supposed to get even warmer for the weekend, then Arctic cold the folklowing weekend. I suppose it doesn't take too much of an imagination to figure out which weekend we've booked a pool party for.

Heated indoor municipal pool - just the whole venturing-out-in-the-cold-with-wet-hair-afterwards that's the problem.

And remember, I issued you the I Hate winter charter membership card my dear.

I went to a HS that required swimming as part of PE. I don't know which was worse, having pool hair for the rest of the day (the coaches never gave us enough time to dry it properly, and this was before blow dryers were common, so we didn't have our own) or having it last period and going out into the cold with wet hair.

I respect the decision to require swimming though. It is a lesson that should not be missed, especially for anyone that lives anywhere near water.

When I went to Auburn, PE was a requirement in EVERY discipline... one of the requirements of PE101 was to have the ability to swim. If you failed the swim test, you were automatically enrolled into a remedial swimming class.

In other words you would not graduate from Auburn without knowing how to swim.

Even regular PE class involved showering and dressing in the last 3 minutes of class. Got to love putting panty hose on over wet legs!

That's great!

My High School also had a pool. Swimming was mandatory for 10th graders. Mind you for me, this was in 1989, in the height (no pun intended) of my "Bon Jovi" hair, and the air dryers in the locker-room were not sufficient to re-style my hair. Not to mention the haze of Aquanet residue that coated the top of the pool water. Nasty stuff. I had swimming twice a week, 2nd to last class. Hated it. Especially since I could already swim. I wish we could have taken a test and opted out if we passed. I definitely agree that swimming should be a requirement if you live near water.

Actual conversation from the NYwdwfan household this morning:

Mr. Fan: We saw the funniest thing at White Castle last night.
Me: You went to White Castle again??! That's three times this week!

Yeah - those carbs are a real problem. o_O
