Obi-Wan Kenobi film in the works

Friggin' beat me to it! I was skeptical about it coming out today. Looks AMAZING!!!

The only bad thing is that it's only 6 episodes. I want 100 or more. But being that it can span 20 years, there can be multiple seasons (as i suspect there will be).

Absolutely loved it! Just seeing Ewan as Obi-wan then the duel of the fates starts and it was all goosebumps. I'm guessing the Hayden/Vader reveal will be in the full story trailer. Man I'm hoping they don't mess this up. Prequel Obi-wan is a top 5 star wars character so I am excited.

Hopefully this jumps right in and doesn't have the typical slow build up all the D+ shows suffer from. With 6 episodes and as awesome a character as Obi-wan is, lets hope they don't bog it down with filler.

I hear it starts off with a light saber fight between Obi-Wan and Vader that lasts all six episodes, but then keeps being interrupted by flashbacks for 99% of the time!!

I really hope they don't stuff this up.

Yet, I have little faith they don't do something to ruin the character. Like, focus the story on him being dumb, doing something stupid to put Luke's life in jeopardy and have other characters fix that for him.

They really have stumbled onto a formula. Put old characters into main storylines and throw in animated characters. For as much as star wars fans are killed for hating everything, I really don't think it's that difficult to placate them.

I guess my problem with that is in the EU books it was explained that Vader was a powerful force to be reckoned with and very deadly but after his fight with Obi-Wan he had problems with his mechanical additions that did not allow him to move quite as adept and nimbly as he did before. This was used to explain the wooden and stiff body movements he displayed in Ep 4, 5, and 6. If this Vader is flipping all over the place and moving like a young Anikan then it just will not seem as authentic. Of course, we have to keep the thrill junkies happy with lots of amazing sword flipping and fast acrobatic moves. :banghead: If they want something like that then show us Maul 2.0 vs Kenobi.

Well since the EU is no longer considered canon really they can have Vader doing anything they want.

Besides the 19 years between Ep3 and Ep4 can explain why he isn't as quick and nimble. As his age plus the ravages of time on his body due to the mods would make him slower. Because I can tell you as someone only slightly older than the age Vader would be in Ep4 I'm not as quick and nimble as I was 19 years ago.

They will always be canon to me. :)

Didn’t they kind of already blow that with Rogue One?

Watch that scene again. Vader is more a menacing force moving forward like a buldozer. No flips or acrobatics. In fact he barely moves anything but his arms. They nailed it. Thanks KK.

Anakin lost potential as he lost limbs. His midi-chlordan count diminished as Dooku took his arm and Obi-Wan took the rest. Vader is not Anakin's ultimate form, he's a hulking life support system, a frightful visage compensating for a broken champion.

It depends, they've done a pretty bad job with the non-casual fans. Star Wars is simple and as a result the formula likes to add something negative to established characters to try and bring complexity.

So Obi-Wan will probably go from the wise Jedi watching over Luke. To a tortured soul, lamenting on his failings and if he can even help or protect Luke. Some aspect of that could be interesting, except they'll probably just end the show with him being a washed-up loser. While some other character no one cares about will save the day.

Star Wars is simple. Good guys vs Bad Guys. Yet they are insistent on everyone being both good and bad. So if a character is good, they need to add negatives. If a character is bad, like Boba, they have to try and make him a bit good.

Yeah, just like in the original trilogy when Luke thought there was "still good" in Vader/Anakin. Then at the end he realizes, "nope- pure bad guy," and chops his evil head off and they all party with the Ewoks.
