I suppose it was too much to ask that a thread about an Obamanimatronic (yes, I've just coined that phrase) wouldn't become an off-topic political trainwreck.

I don't think it is off topic. Plenty of people trying to derail it but that is failing.

It is not a thread about the robot, it is about the fact Obama will be speaking, which implies content, which is what the thread is mostly about.

I hope they use the 1964 world's fair rendition used in Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, also used in the 1971-1993 version of HoP; it's also the same one they use in IllumiNation's 4th of July Tag. I'm not a big fan of the 1993-2008 version of Battle Hymn. :lookaroun

Yes, old Battle Hymn is lovely. Especially set to fireworks.

I have always been of a mind that the current President shouldn't speak in HoP. But since they are going to do it I think Obama would be better suited to give a speech about the American spirit and progress instead of the oath. Especially considering the problems with his first go around with it. I think the oath should be part of the show but should either be given by Washington because he was the first or have it read as a group by all the Presidents. I am really looking forward to hearing Lincoln's speech and what they will have Washington say. I also really like the idea of M.F. doing the narration.

I know what you mean, but it can be used in such a bipartisan way. It also keeps the HoP very fresh, and very new, something that's needed for a attraction like that.
