The difference with Singapore is that its part of a larger area that's already themed to Science Fiction, so it fit well...California is just...meh

An attraction like Transformers would nessetate large expanses of blank walls with not much chance of decent theming. Considering this location can be walked and viewed around from all sides, would it really be the best place for such an attraction?
I believe this is the Singapore facade: [Image Removed for the Quote]

Transformers: The Ride 3D is not just behind a science fiction facade at Universal Studios Singapore. Take a look at right of the photo posted by dxer07002. Past the arch you can see a little bit of New York. The showbuilding sits behind part of the New York section of the park. I see no reason why cityscape studio facades would not work for the showbuilding. NEST is supposed to be a secret facility, in this iteration it could be hidden within plain view.

Amazing effects and wonderful use of the ride/screen technology in combination. A bit simple on the plot, but it does make it easier to follow than Spiderman. Transformers certainly sets the mark for the thrilling dark ride segment of the theme park industry.

But my wife and I were even more amazed by the King Kong segment of the tram tour. Just a shaking platform with 3-D screen on two sides, and limited by the fact that it has to deal with a whole tram of people who are looking wherever they wish, not wherever they are pointed. But it comes off so well, and there is so much happening at any point no matter which way you look. King Kong exceeded my expectation by a huge amount.

Amen. Kong certainly surprised me. I didn't think I'd be able to focus on both sides of the tram, but I did. Wonderful segment of the tram.

A reliable forum member has posted how it looks like Camp Minnie Mickey is being cleared out for Avatar. No permits filed yet, though.

Haven't we more or less known this was the plan for months now? Granted it means something that they are starting to shut down Camp Minnie Mickey, albeit slowly.

I was more referring to ground breaking, timelines, concept art, something more substantial then just knowing the area they plan on using.

I have seen those... But, where are the plans from Disney? That is what we are all waiting for right now...

If 2016 is still the target date, then it is probably a little early to file permits yet.

Remember, we haven't seen anything official out of Universal at this point on the assumed Potter expansion or what's going on at SS44.

Universal's expansion has convinced us to give them a try. In fact, I just booked our trip a few days ago. This means that the original WDW trip I had planned for November has been moved to the beginning of 2013 at the earliest. That's a few thousand dollars that we would have spent at WDW this year going to a competitor. We love Disney but the lure of all the new attractions at Universal proved to be too much.
