So yeah, Universal taking aim at Disney? You betcha. New permit filed for something Non-Potter at USF:

[fingers crossed]Please be Transformers...please be Transformers...[/fingers crossed]

I would have thought that Transformers may have gone beside Men in Black and The Simpsons - if that is the case, could this be for Madagascar, to go beside Shrek 4-D (both Dreamworks) and Despicable Me (I don't know whether Madagascar would fit - that site says that Transformers would)? Or, if we got Madagascar, would it be going in the new Kidzone?

Whatever it is (Transformers, Madagascar, something else), as long as it was a new attraction, it would be better than an empty building!

He hasn't gotten to me. He more just amuses me than anything else. His absurd statements give me a good laugh and poking holes in his logic is pretty easy. But I'm glad we've made you laugh. :)

There is nothing to gain from proving someone an idiot.. when everyone already know they are an idiot. There is nothing to gain from beating up the helpless.

There is no point in bringing Transformers to Orlando.. it's basically spiderman. Transformers was the way to bring spiderman to the other parks without the spiderman license.

Madagascar seems like a really fun ride. That would be really cool if it came to Universal Orlando. What did the new permit actually say? I'd agree about Transformers and Spider Man being similar but I don't think anyone would be too upset by similarity. It's not like most theme parks don't have similar rides. That's really exciting news though!

The new permit is for demolition of an old building, construction of a new one.

It doesn't say which building, but the article says that the BTTF vehicles have been moved from around Soundstage 44, and there have been height balloons there - so it would seem that S44 could be the building being demolished.

I would happily ride both Spiderman and Transformers on the same holiday!

I would think if Madagascar: A Crate Adventure is coming to Universal Studios Florida, it would be a new design. The attraction at Universal Studios Singapore was plagued with problems and has parts just abandoned as part of making the attraction work.

Why aren't they capable of doing that? I just don't get it. I know it's true what you just typed. They always seem to have such inflated prices for projects. What would cost Universal or a lot of other theme parks a lot less to do, Disney always seems to find a way to make it more expensive than necessary. It can't be from materials...steel is steel, wood is wood. They are going to have the same price regardless of who is buying. Do the imagineers themselves just demand pay that way more they they are worth (at this point in time)?
It is a problem that has plagued Disney for years. Being in house, the level of junk has accumulated. There are layers of management and protocol, what takes one meeting to decide elsewhere takes five at Disney just to get started. The same problem happen at Feature Animation back in the 1990s before it all fell apart. People were inserting themselves into the process, resulting in big expensive messes of films. That is a faster moving industry, so we saw it all happen first. Then yes, you even have the issue of maintaining a staff that may not always be the most productive at times. Nasty politics gets you situations where somebody may not be fully pushed out, but not allowed to do much, all the while still collecting a paycheck.

Compare this to most everybody else, where the local in-house staff is significantly smaller. Different companies and individuals are hired on for the single project for specific needs. And because the industry, while growing, is still relatively small, you still have people who get to know each other as they move from project to project and thus the challenges of assembling a new team are somewhat abated.

I was looking at the latest aerial pics of the FLE today and they have gone to great lengths to hide the mermaid buiding from the Storybook Circus so that is proof of what I speak.
To bad all they could do for Dumbo was get some green paint...

Hopefully Uni will use phase 2 of potter to hide that show building.
Where is the showbuilding most visible?

Was never meant to be a guest area. The Greenhouses and the horrible extended queue beyond the Greenhouse were last minute additions. Not excusing their poor planning, but they never expected that many people in line when they designed the queue. Hopefully Phase 2 will ease the stress on Forbidden Journey.

It really is unfortunate.

Actually, it is from the extended queue. The question was to see if the resident show expert actually knew where the show building is visible. That picture though does show one thing, not a lot of people looking up.
Regardless if it's the extended queue or not, you can see the same exact angle while walking from Jurassic to wizard-boy land. Oh well, the rides still top-notch. Oh and just because people take the "out of sight, out of mind" approach doesn't mean it's not visible.

They may be able to fix this if they find a way to add The Great Hall Restaurant back there.

Like I said, the visual intrusion is unfortunate. Poor planning. Lack of experience with crowds.
