NYT: "Universal....Takes Aim at Disney"

Obviously you need to take a long leisurely stroll down BV street. But that is step 7 in the jt04 12 step plan for the hopelessly cynical. It isn't good to try and skip any steps.

And yes I admit I like waffles. Especially Belgian. The choclate ones are good but the ones with freash fruit and fresher whipped cream are beyond description. You have to get them right of the grill or should I say iron for the best results. It helps if you are in Belgium too because that is the best place for waffles. I guess I will be eating lunch early now.

Well, at least you finally own up to the fact that you are one big load of waffle...I knew you'd admit all your statements are just made up BS one day. I just didn't think it'd be so soon. :D

Also, with your top comment...a number 6 again! Your on a roll! You again didn't address anything I said in my post. But I shouldn't find that shocking. Again, I'm waiting for a real expert to answer my question.

I just tend to assume most people understand the concept of "you get what you pay for". In your case though these type assumptions are likely a mistake.

The walls are down for Casey and the new Pooh M&G just so you know. Rumor has it it is a mob scene. The FLE is a major hit and it has yet to open fully. THAT is why WDI rules the world. Again, you get what you pay for.

No thanks lest they become stale. My next trip is likely to be to the great Northwest! Woohoo. Do they have waffles in Spokane?

Hard for anything to be stale if you haven't seen it for so long. But, the interwebs are more valuable to some than actually seeing things firsthand....

Cause HP wasn't a mob scene (and relatively still is) when it opened...and Potter 2.0 will be just the same way. I never once have said FLE wasn't going to be a hit or that I wasn't looking forward to it. All I've said is that they could have done much better than what it is and it doesn't wow me. I don't consider any of what they've done revolutionary or pushing boundaries, which Disney used to be known for. Disney set that standard and they've failed to adhere to it, sadly enough. And hey, you didn't refute what I said about all your comments being a load of made up BS! Thanks for confirming the truth. :D

the fact that you guys let him get to you like this is truly comical in of itself! bravo! :p
He hasn't gotten to me. He more just amuses me than anything else. His absurd statements give me a good laugh and poking holes in his logic is pretty easy. But I'm glad we've made you laugh. :)

I'm still hoping for martin's insight on my question though. :( Or Lee or anyone else with experience.

Why aren't they capable of doing that? I just don't get it. I know it's true what you just typed. They always seem to have such inflated prices for projects. What would cost Universal or a lot of other theme parks a lot less to do, Disney always seems to find a way to make it more expensive than necessary. It can't be from materials...steel is steel, wood is wood. They are going to have the same price regardless of who is buying. Do the imagineers themselves just demand pay that way more they they are worth (at this point in time)?
It's a very complex issue.
Yes, some long time Imagineers make large, some would argue excessive, salaries.
A bigger Issue is perhaps that since WDI is Disney's in-house firm, they don't have to compete the same way independent companies do. (whylightbulb could perhaps she'd a bit more light here)

WDI is an 800lb gorilla at this point. In many ways too big, too bloated with layers of bureaucracy, and too many talented people fighting to remain employed by attaching themselves to whatever project has a chance of happening.

Likely some will claim WDI is too bloated and then in the next breath they will complain about out-sourcing. Not necessarily Lee or Martin but other self proclaimed experts.

You have punched holes in nothing except in your own mind I might add. Or do we need to get specific again. I notice you have trouble with that.

Heh, as I was saying. Nice timing Lee.

Nothing contradictory about that. You can have a lean an efficient company and still do everything in house and you can have a large bloated company that outsources a lot. The two aren't necessarily connected.

You and others claimed nothing new was coming to the MK "for at least 5 years" a few weeks before the FLE was announced.........so..............
Which, right up until Burbank flexed some muscle and pushed it through, was true.
Also, the original source of that five year timeframe wasnt 74. It was a poster on LP who has since been found to have been out of the loop.

Yes, exactly.
The future appears to be mixture of in-house and outsourced, much like the current Uni Creative model. I have no problem with that.

Dude he doesn't even know about the work happening on the KS's. And he new nothing of the massive FLE project mere weeks before it was announced. I fear you are waisting your time with that one.

And the only reason he addressed you at all is because he is an attic for trying to sidle up to the famous or the infamous. So he can then name drop. Sad. Especially since you are not THAT FL.
Just saw this and probably should just let it go, but...
Are you seriously trying to say 74 doesn't know about the work on KS? Really?
And are you also saying that he addressed "FrankLapidus" because he actually thought he was a real-life incarnation of a fictional character?

Oh, my...

Just look how many 'likes' bubbles has. Catching on? :D

Heh. Nice game your playing pal. Funny how the rules change every time you post. I like how you just grab whatever motive is convenient enough to make yourself a winner in your eyes. Just to point out, that's a clear sign you don't know a thing you're talking about.

Was he actually suggesting I post specifically so I can get likes? Hahahaha...ok, I confess... you caught me. I come on here so that I can get likes. I am a "like hoarder". Every time I get a new like, I rub my hands together and then scour the interwebs looking to see where I might get my next one! Mwhahahaha. *in my head, my evil laugh sounds like Maleficent, just, so you know, everyone can get the full effect* ;)

Please. Of course I appreciate anyone who likes my posts but I'm not out to cater to anyone just to deliberately get them to like a post of mine  :confused:o_O:rolleyes::confused:o_O:rolleyes: And I will not hold it against anyone if they don't like this post...I'll just sick my evil minions on you instead ;)

Also, thank you for the answer Lee! :) I'd be interested to hear more about the dynamics of WDI being in-house versus independent companies. Hope whylightbulb sees your post :)
