And if we went with Dumbo:

Reading the other teams thread and they had a good idea on how to split up the project (once we start working on it):

2 people on the show (1 for act 1, 1 for act 2), 2 for the music, 1 on art for the show, 1 on the technical aspects of the show (costume, set pieces, etc.), and 1 on presentation/ hate
Sounds great. Hoping that everyone chooses their role by the end of tomorrow after we decide what we're doing (and if we're going with HM the story).

Hey, day got away from me, I vote Haunted Mansion or Tron but I am also having a very hard time working up the energy for this project as it is just so far out of what I know how to do it's hard to be excited for it. Something I would rather read than write if that makes sense. But those are my votes. And I also would probably prefer to do the technical aspects like costuming and set pieces or mayyyyybe art because again I have no idea how to approach this task and its leaving me lacking some of the initial passion I had when I suggested Haunted.

Also for the chorus aspect if anyone is at all familiar with Once on this Island, that was where I drew the inspo from.

Now we have to figure out where we want to go with the story. Do we want an origin story or something more similar to @Outbound's approach with outsider characters visiting the Mansion? Maybe someone else has another approach?

Let's try to figure out the plot by the end of tomorrow so that everyone can start picking out their roles tomorrow too.

I can do the presentation. As people finish things I can make the full Playbill. I can already start adding things now. As characters are decided I can fill in cast roles with people who make sense for Broadway

Due to mass concerns I mentioned about Haunted Mansion earlier, I don’t think I should work on the story elements of the show. I wouldn't want to impose more creatively on whatever storyline we end up developing, especially with the tight deadline.

I can help @AceAstro with the presentation and a little music (no composition, I'm afraid) as I am pretty sure the entire team needs to do music as we have so little to work off of from the ride.

I definitely agree about the music part. That is a all hands on deck thing.

Here is what I have so far! Easy bits while waiting for more details

Also, how brave of us to take the Winter Garden for our show! Lots of space for tech (I mean look at the set for Beetlejuice), but also lots of seats (1526, to be exact). Unless the theatre name is just a placeholder.

If we're aiming for realism, Disney Theatrical usually places their shows on Broadway in a Nederlander house (Palace Theatre, Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, Richard Rodgers Theatre, Brooks Atkinson Theatre, and Nederlander Theatre were once homes to Disney shows), a Jujamcyn house (St. James Theatre), or even their own (New Amsterdam Theatre).

I personally went with Winter Garden since it was the last one I have been in and I know technically it is empty right now.

The Lunt-Fontanne can close Tina in favour of a new show or it could be the first show to re-open the palace in 2021. Both feel realistic to me

Well, The Lehman Trilogy is only running for a limited engagement, so our show can be next after that. It would be a homecoming for DTG at the Nederlander after Newsies' closing in 2014. The theatre's facade also seems to be a blend of the New Orleans Square (grillwork) and the Liberty Square (brick) mansions, so it's perfect I guess.

Judging from how successful Tina is in London now (and on Broadway; Adrienne Warren is killing it as Tina, if the boards are to be believed), I don't think they'll be closing up shop anytime soon.

Hang in there. I too struggle with any sort of theatrical or entertainment based projects. My bread and butter is dark rides and I feel out of my comfort zone outside of that. I give you major props for chugging along and still trying to find stuff to work on in spite of being out of your element, though. Adaptation is one of the key factors needed to win this game! :)

I can probably do music. I’m pretty musically talented. Or I could just do the instrumentals for the music.

So it looks like we need to determine a general storyline for the play. I think something involving a newcomer coming to the mansion (either human or newly-made ghost) because that would provide a reason for all the various characters making their introductions (via song of course).

Also, I think this will be the deciding factor in who wins the round. Citra is doing a straight up adaption which is a very safe and solid play format. We are taking a risk with creating our own story: it will either make or break our project.

I was going to wait to post this until we wrote the synopsis but since everyone is picking their role anyway, may as well post this now:

Writer Act 1-@Outbound
Writer Act 2- @Sharon&Susan
Composer- @ThatGuyFromFlorida
Lyrics- @AceAstro
Artist- @Sharon&Susan
Wardrobe, SFX, and Set Design- @gam3rprincess

Presentation- @AceAstro
Presentation and Music Assistance- @montydysquith-navarro
Red-Unclaimed
Yellow-In Progress
Green- Completed
None of this is final, if you want to change your role make to say something by the end of today. The objective for today is to have a plot that the majority of us are satisfied to work with.

My music skills are very limited only to the "Does it sound good or not?" territory and not actual music composition, as I pointed out in my post. I'm helping @AceAstro with the presentation though!
