Now I Know What a Lovebug is...An April/May 2011 Trip Report

So all this time I've wondered about lovebugs. I wonder no more.

We had a late ADR at the Garden Grill. It started out on a sour note. I specifically requested a table with a high chair when I made the ADR. When we were seated, we were on the first level. I knew that was wrong because high chair seating is on the second level only. I explained this and was told we could have a booster. The seating hostess got huffy when I said no. DH looked at our reservation slip and saw that it said high chair. Our waiter (whom we had before and did not care for at all) told his higher up that we wanted a blue seat. Long story of further hatefulness and ignorance made short, if a super wonderful waitress named Ashley hadn't been so nice and helpful, I would've left and eaten a counter service. I'm glad it worked out because DS loved the characters and the food was great.

The park was closing when we finished dinner. Sadly, we said good-bye to Epcot until July. The monorail was crazy crowded.

We had an early ADR for Chef Mickey's before we made the long, long, long drive home. DS had a great time with his hero Donald Duck.

After Chef Mickey's, we packed the car and headed home. I hate leaving Disney World. The only bright spot in the trek home was stopping at the Moon River Brewery in Savannah for dinner.

Thanks for reading my trip report!

Okay. I really should be unloading/reloading the dishwasher and doing laundry and, gee, the hardwood floors could use a serious cleaning but I'd sooooo rather procrastinate with your TR and all the fantastic pictures you posted! Thank YOU! Aaaaand, lately I've been questioning myself about our resort choices and spending for our upcoming September adventure ((am I nuts?!)) but reading your TR and soaking in the awesomeness of your pics has been just the thing I needed. Cured! It's only money, right?!

Fantastic report! Loved seeing how excited your DH was to go into his MK View room. Aren't they awesome?! All the room pics made me sooooo homesick for our favorite WDW resort! We've stayed MK View at CR twice and looooove it. I've always felt it was the epitome of what a WDW resort could be. It's Disney but in a much more subtle, extremely magical way. The color palette in the decor is so warm and inviting to me. The beds are so comfy, too. And there's just nothing like that view. I understand the thinking of those who say: "I don't spend that much because it's just a place to sleep & shower." I used to say the exact same thing when I stayed at Pop. When I had a room that big and comfy with the breathtaking views I wanted to go back there and spend more time relaxing and enjoying it!

Of all your pics, this one is by far my favorite:

Perfect! The expression on Beast's face is hilarious!!!

Can't wait for more! Great report! I'm totally enjoying it. I only wish it was gonna be looooooonger!!!! :sohappy:

I sometimes wonder what I could have done to my house with the money we spend on vacations. However, in the end, it doesn't matter what kind of house we have or car we have. What matters is what we do with life and the memories we leave for those we leave behind.

I agree that the Contemporary with a MK view is the best. It is a splurge for us. We got a great deal at the Poly this summer so we're having two splurges this year. :sohappy:

When DH and I were young and broke, the values were great because we lived in the parks. As we've gotten older, we've come to appreciate the creature comforts of the deluxes. We are staying at POP in December simply because of the time we are going and how much it the deluxes are.

I'm super pumped for Beast's castle. I couldn't resist that picture.

DH definitely loved CR. It was a dream come true for him.

Thanks for reading!!!

I totally hear ya. I think that's been part of my questioning myself. Seriously. I could have all new hardwood floors (still not replaced since the hurricane water damage from 2008 because insurance refused to cover it) AND new tile put down. But, like you said, years from now when we look back we won't be thinking of the money spent. It's all about the memories.

Yeah, our first stay at CR we paid rack rate (I still get that :hurl: feeling when I think about it) but it was our dream-stay and we didn't know if we'd ever be in a position to do it again. The 2nd stay was the January they did the 40% (I think) off + $200 gift card. Fantastic deal. If it weren't for the discounts I don't know that we'd have ever stayed at AKL or at the two resorts that will be new to us in September (WL & YC CL). Breathe, Kelly. Think memories. Memories. :lookaroun:D

Our youngest actually misses Pop. We stayed there for our first 4 family trips. I do love the theming there and I'm sure it'll always have a bit of a "home" feel for us. Our oldest actually prefers POFQ over AKL and asked if we could stay there for our pre-cruise stay in September instead of WL. He's a really soft-hearted notstalgic fella and POFQ reminds him of the years we lived in the greater New Orleans area. He was overruled by DH & I who want to make September about new experiences. It's interesting to see what the boys think and hear them talk about what all they remember. The things that made impressions in their memories are so different than what you'd imagine.

Fabulous wrap-up. Your little man is just the cutest thing. I love the way you included his input in the daily-doings. Y'all are doing a totally fab job bringing up anther mini-Mouse-fan! Isn't it fun passing the torch? :sohappy:

Great TR. We love CR too. MK View is a splurge. We have also stayed in Garden View to save money. Love Epcot Flower/Garden also. Haven't tried La Hacienda, San Angel is our Mexico TS.

The WL is our absolute home away from home. I'll miss it this summer.

I already know DS is making memories. He most likely won't ever be aware of them, but I see it in how he recognizes and reacts to things. I love that we get to pass our love for Disney World to him. There's something innocent and sheltered about fairy tales and dreams. I hope he always carries that with him. Silly, I know. Yet, I see these kids that if their parents had taken the time to share the value of dreams and believing in happy endings, their lives would be a lot better.

Thanks for all of the kind words!

I wouldn't suggest La Hacienda at all. :hurl::hurl::hurl: We actually decided to cancel our San Angel reservation because La Hacienda scared us when it comes to Disney World Mexican food.

The atmosphere was the big reason we wanted to eat at San Angel.
