Now I Know What a Lovebug is...An April/May 2011 Trip Report

So all this time I've wondered about lovebugs. I wonder no more.

Yeah...ewwww....I know...

DS loves the Beverly. Seriously. He drank two little cups of it before I made him quit for fear he would get sick. I tried to give him somethink good like the Kinley. He spit it out. Wow...

DS was passed out at this point. I think he may have realized the error of his Beverly loving ways and decided to sleep off the shame.

Wow is right! How in the world can he drink the Beverly? UGH! :hurl:

Sleeping off the shame.....funny comment made me

Hey! I didn't realize you both are teachers! Excellent! I teach 4th grade and technology at an elementary school. It has rough days but I still love it.

I have an MA in elementary education. I've taught every grade from 6 to 12.

I've never really wanted to stay at the Contemporary but after seeing your view, I'm changing my mind about that. Simply gorgeous!

It was amazing.

Hmmmm, is that the castle of a beast I see? :lookaroun

Yes! I am sooooo excited. I couldn't believe we had a view of it from our room. The icing on the cake.

I've never been to the F&G Festival but your pictures make me want to go. Difficult to go that time of year as a teacher.

Our spring break was really late this year. I really hope our school system switches to year round next year. I'd like to have some options as far as travel dates go. I just got an awesome pin code for dates I'd love to go but can't because of our school calendar.

I've often asked myself if I need to ask the ped to test his sense of taste. :ROFLOL:

Thanks for reading!

More pre-dinner pictures...

Since it was our anniversary, we got a special phone call from Mickey Mouse. That was the first time that had ever happened. I love The American Adventure cast members. I think they go out of their way to make Disney World extra special.

DS loves the Mexican pavillion. He made a bee line for "the Donald ride".

We added to our Donald toy collection in Norway. DS's skin was still a mess from the cruise. Something in the water or linens triggered the contact dermatitis rash.

**********************************************************
These pictures conclude our first day of the mini trip. We ate dinner at La Hacienda shortly after DS bought his new Donald. Dinner was not good. DH and I had looked forward to it since we booked it in October. The platter for two had ample food. The food was just terrible. It's like they tried to cover up lack of taste with hot. I love hot food as long as it has a good taste to go along with the heat. This just didn't. The salsa tasted like Chef Boyardee pizza sauce with hot peppers in it.

The waiter also charged us for DS's drink. We've never been charged for his drink before. I always thought kids under 3 got their drink for free.

The best part of the experience was DS and the salsa. He insisted on eating it. After he took a bite, he started panting and going "hot, hot, hot". Then, he'd make this wretched face and made this weird blowing sound on his lips trying to cool them down.

We had a nice view for Illuminations. The problem was we were seated at 8ish. The waiter rushed us through our meal. DH dawdled over the food as much as he could so we could watch it. We caught a few minutes of it and left because the waiter kept checking to see if we'd left.

I had a terrible migraine kicking in at that point. I also think I had a mild case of food poisoning from something I'd eaten on the cruise ship at breakfast. We wandered over to the Seas with DS and took a ride. He was cranky because his ears had started to hurt during dinner, and my head was about to explode when we finished in there.

Leaving really stunk because Epcot was dead. Soarin' had a 15 minute wait. Seriously. However, grad nights were going on (making transportation a mess) and it was clear that DS and I were not up to par. DH, being the super dad and husband he is, took us back to the room and took care of us.

The grad night fireworks woke me up. Thankfully, my migraine had gone away. I watched them from bed best as I could without my contacts in or glasses on. It was awesome to see them from my bed. (Might I add the beds at the Contemporary are sweet!)

Tomorrow...the Magic Kingdom!

Extra Magic Hours at the Magic Kingdom were awesome. I was surprised that Saturday morning was that slow. Here's what we rode before our 10:00 ADR at the Crystal Palace: Buzz Lightyear, Pooh, Snow White, Teacups, Peter Pan, Peter Pan, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and Jungle Cruise. It was quite the accomplished morning. The thing that surprised me most was Peter Pan had a 5 minute wait at 9AM. The park had been open for an hour at that point. It was the first ride DS ever asked to ride twice. He said "again" and clapped as we exited the ride.

I love breakfast at the Crystal Palace. It is far better than dinner there. We were all starving because dinner was so terrible at La Hacienda the night before.

After breakfast, we did some shopping on Main Street and wandered over to Tomorrowland to watch the CoP and MILF. We took a ride on the TTA. DH wanted to ride the train and see if we could get peeks at Fantasyland. DS fell asleep on the way to the Main Street stop.

After we completed the train loop and collected our stroller at the Main Street stop, we said a sad good-bye to the MK. Grad nights were scheduled for that evening. Boo 7:00 closure. We rode the monorail to the Poly for a couple of items at its gift shop and then headed back to our room. Our mousekeeper left DS a surprise.

I'm really enjoying your TR! I love the Contemporary, it's my favorite hotel mainly because it was the only one that Walt had any hand in. I love the beds too and the pillows are awesome. They're so awesome that I ordered them out of the Resort Collection catalogue! We have the same bed too but we didn't get it from the catalogue. It's a Sealy Posturpedic.

I've never stayed in the tower, I'm always too cheap so I stay in the garden wing :) Your pictures from your room are breathtaking! You can't beat waking up to that view :ROFLOL:

Your DH (Aaron?) looked SO PUMPED while checking in at the Contemporary.. it's one of the resorts that doesn't really float my boat, but that VIEW, holy! I'd definitely reconsider if I got that view..

Your son is adorable!

Enjoying the TR so far! We spent the week after Easter at the CR. Went there last summer for a conference, and we enjoyed it so much we went back again this year. You're right about the MK view rate...it's definitely a splurge!

The Contemporary is such a great place. The views were awesome.

DH is Aaron. :) He was pumped. The view makes the Contemporary worth considering. I don't know if I'd stay there without the MK view.

Thanks! DS is the light of my life.

More pre-breakfast pictures...

5 minutes stand by wait!

I know! I had to take a picture because I knew no one would believe me.

We were there the weekend after Easter. The MK rate is a definite splurge. It was worth it, though. Thanks for reading!

Okay. I really should be unloading/reloading the dishwasher and doing laundry and, gee, the hardwood floors could use a serious cleaning but I'd sooooo rather procrastinate with your TR and all the fantastic pictures you posted! Thank YOU! Aaaaand, lately I've been questioning myself about our resort choices and spending for our upcoming September adventure ((am I nuts?!)) but reading your TR and soaking in the awesomeness of your pics has been just the thing I needed. Cured! It's only money, right?!

Fantastic report! Loved seeing how excited your DH was to go into his MK View room. Aren't they awesome?! All the room pics made me sooooo homesick for our favorite WDW resort! We've stayed MK View at CR twice and looooove it. I've always felt it was the epitome of what a WDW resort could be. It's Disney but in a much more subtle, extremely magical way. The color palette in the decor is so warm and inviting to me. The beds are so comfy, too. And there's just nothing like that view. I understand the thinking of those who say: "I don't spend that much because it's just a place to sleep & shower." I used to say the exact same thing when I stayed at Pop. When I had a room that big and comfy with the breathtaking views I wanted to go back there and spend more time relaxing and enjoying it!

Of all your pics, this one is by far my favorite:

Perfect! The expression on Beast's face is hilarious!!!

Can't wait for more! Great report! I'm totally enjoying it. I only wish it was gonna be looooooonger!!!! :sohappy:

After freshening up and enjoying our view for just a few minutes, we headed to Epcot. Our first priority was Livin' with the Land since we missed it the day before. DH and DS really enjoy it. Toward the end of the ride, DS reminded us of the ice cream cone we promised him the day before. The line at Fountainview was long (again). It moved fast though. I snagged a table with a great view of the fountain.
