No outside food, strollers or scooters can be delivered to Disney Resorts?

You know people that go all the time do not understand, we are not wealthy, we can't go on all the time we make the most of our time while there. My father would gladly love to have his leg back and not need the stupid scooter, he can't really help it. We made the reservations with a 'Disney Approved" vendor so we could get the scooter upon arrival and head out, and 2 months before our trip bam, Disney changes everything. Yes we have to scrimp and save and budget just to go once a year, we cannot afford wasted time sitting around twiddling our thumbs waiting for a scooter to come just because Disney is grubbing for money. And yes I am extremely upset that , my parents and husband can't come unless we waste park time, and my father is very upset that for him to go on the trip he ruins the first day for the rest of us so he does not want to cancel. At this point cancelling is a nightmare so yeah be sarcastic about a disabled man if that what makes you feel good.

I find it hard to believe that canceling days in advance is a hard thing to do to switch vendors for a ECV rental.
We do have these things called Cell phones to call and coordinate a ECV delivery if your ETA differs from your original plan. You lose maybe a 1/2 hour to an hour sticking around the resort waiting for the ECV delivery?

And I say this as someone who's last trip to the World in August rented an ECV every day as my lower legs condition is keeping me from walking all over like I used to.
As an aside navigating with a ECV is like driving though a nightmare forest of moving trees. Moving along at slow speeds and yet people just wander into yoru path and you can't stop in time or if you stop 2 people behind you ram into your sudden stop. A post for another day, ECV use in WDW.

Ok so first take a deep breathe. You are stressing over a very minor change and that probably is stressing out the rest of the family.

Next, here is the solution to finding family. Let me say this method is tried and true. I did it for a family reunion in 2017 with 17 family members.
1) ensure everyone has working cell phones.
2) make sure two other folks have copies of the days plan. If you micromanage them I'm sure you know the schedule of the day.
3) when you get to your resort you will probably have an idea of when the scooter will be delivered, again this is very easy. The company will give you a window close to your arrival time
4) tell family that is going to park to meet at a designated area at designated time. Again you know your fast pass times so this should be easy.
5) cell phone other party when Dad and you get on the way to the park.
6) cell phone again once you are through the turnstile.
7) meet other people.

This worked for a family of 17 with all different schedules and arrival times. It worked each day and we had dinner together every night.

Again at most you are missing two rides and unless they are deliberately trying to lose you it will not take hours to find family. 🤔

A Google Hangouts group chat works great for coordination large groups. Instant messages with a history and the ability to send pictures/ cell phone screen shots to the entire group. Go a step further and you can use Google Maps location sharing with every one for the 9 days and then see roughly where anyone is at any time especially if your waiting for someone to join a group.

I couldn't agree with you more.
The business that I owned would usually have 15-25 deliveries per day.
About 75% of those deliveries would ask to be the "first delivery" or "as early as possible".
We would always tell our customers that there could only be 1 first delivery each day and that was depending on the most efficient delivery route for our driver.
We would tell them to call on the morning of their delivery and we would give them an approximate delivery time frame.
When this new policy goes into effect, I imagine the ECV companies will struggle to keep up with timed deliveries.
The drivers will be bounching around the resorts to deliver one scooter at a time.
Alot of wasted time.
I wouldn't be surprised if the rental costs go up and delivery charges, too.

thanks Ricky, glad you agree :)
it seems we are both from the transport/haulage background so we would have a different view than a standard customer but most people understand the constraints in the current climate.

The only thing i can see disney possibly doing is creating their own rental company in house at resorts and such so they keep the monopoly. maybe people could add it to their resort stay? want to start a business ? lol

There is literally companies working for little to no profit because of people always wanting priority.
Stop making excuses for companies that don't have a viable business plan without shifting costs of doing their business onto someone else.

Again: The problem here actually is the exploitative third-party suppliers who are not willing to provide the level of service that their patrons need, i.e., drop off and pick up on the patron's schedule rather than whenever it is convenient for the third-party supplier. They're just aiming to skim off the cream while trying to shift reasonable costs of their business on to someone else.

Sorry it doesn't work like this.
How "it doesn't work" is expecting other companies to carry your water. If you can't make a profit carrying your own water, then you shouldn't be in business.

Excuse me, you think that wanting my handicapped father to be able to have access to the parks when he arrives is entitlement?
Why are you arguing against something I didn't write? Is it because you don't have a legitimate response to what I did write?

The last time we needed an ECV for my sister-in-law, we were there to collect it from the company as they arrived to drop it off and were there to meet them to have them collect it when our trip was done. Back then, of course, no one held the kind of excessive entitlement that pretends to rationalize your complaint. Back then it was just the normal thing to do at Disney - and it is precisely what she does at every other vacation destination they visit today.

If our family can do it, so can yours.

The official word from Dinsey is out

I already reserved a mobility device for my trip to Walt Disney World with another company. What does this mean for my existing reservation?
Disney Resort hotel Cast will continue to manage equipment deliveries and returns for reservations made on or before September 30, 2019 with the following vendors: Apple Scooter, Best Price Scooters and Strollers, Buena Vista Scooter Rentals, Kingdom Strollers, Magic Strollers and Orlando Stroller Rentals. Please contact the vendor directly with any additional questions about your current or future reservations

hang on we may have misunderstood each other. i think we are agreeing there is a problem just not on the delivery side.
personally i dont think Disney should accept the items without the person being there to accept the ecv
The agreement is between the user of the scooter and the company delivering the item.

Unless its prior agreed/paid for for an exact time i dont think the delivery of the scooter should be blamed.

I know I am selfish because I want the only 9 days I have off the whole entire year to go as planned, I should not blame Disney for their greed one bit. Maybe if You worked 12 hour shifts with no breaks, I get no Holidays off, I work for a 24/7 company so I want those 9 days the way I spent planning, and yes, I try the meet me at so in so place at so in so time, and something always happens and in my family when things happen it's not Disney who gets blamed it's my fault, I messed it up I somehow did it on purpose. I still hear about our flight being late from five years ago and how we almost missed our connecting flight .

You obviously have much self guilt because I never said anything about you being selfish, yet you choose to inject that in to your reply to me and then ignore all the rest of my post which is good sound advice.

I'd say your deeper issue is your family treating you like garbage and not appreciating you. Who in their right mind would blame anyone in the family for a late flight? Unless you are the actual Mother Nature who can control the weather. Then maybe it could go at you if you conjured up a hurricane and delayed the flight on purpose. Or if you were the actual airplane mechanic who didn't replace the failed part on your plane that caused the delay.

I'm in a job where I am on-call 24/7. I get woken up all the time throughout the night. Get calls on Weekends, Holidays and even had to handle some things a few years ago on my drive down to Florida from Illinois. My laptop comes with me on any vacations in case I need to handle something. It's just part of it. So everyone has job challenges in their life and you seem to be doing better than I am because you can afford yearly trips when we only go every 2 years at best.

I'm still not seeing where Disney is Greedy in this. They aren't not allowing you to rent from an external company. You are free to do that. You just need to be there to get the rental if it isn't from one of the below vendors.

Having their own rental could easily work for them. We've been staying at Fort Wilderness of late. We rent one of their golf carts while we are there. It's simply the quickest most efficient form of transportation inside the Fort. They charge $67 per day, (24 hours). There's outside vendors you can rent from but you have to go pick them up. They can't deliver on property. Much like this thread, it's been going on for some time. Side note: We have our own golf cart. My wife won't let me bring it because she doesn't want it to get "messed up" LOL!

I have just resolved myself to it is what it is, no matter how hard I try something will be screwed up. I am hoping that it will not take long . I contacted Apple and they said they should handle it at Bell services since the reservation was made in February, and if they don't they will make sure they are there when we get there.

how about a different way to think of it. You planned, you double checked every thing and now you will sit back and enjoy. If some thing comes up you will deal with it at the time and comments from the peanut gallery AKA family members who did nothing, will be handle by the appropriate department.

Did you read the official wording from Disney? If you booked the ECV *prior* to today it will be delivered to Bell Services without an issue. You will be fine, so nothing to worry about.

You might have missed it but here's the info again.

Wish you luck with Apple though. We had horrible experiences with them and an injury to my leg thanks to their faulty ECV.

OMG so all that drama was for nothing?
And next time OP can choose to do something differently and have time to place it in their micro plan.

to be fair, the official word from Disney came out after they started the thread...
But did it come out prior to yesterday's dramatic posts of my family will lose 2 DAYS of a trip that everyone blames me for anything that does not fit into my micro plan? Even if it didnt that was entirely too much drama for the minor inconvenience.

No. But OP seems to be under a lot of pressure (some self inflicted for sure) to make this vacation perfect. Perfection is unattainable.

I'm not surprised by the level of drama.

I do hope OP listens to some of the tips given from others on this thread who also use mobility devices (who are not freaking out about this because they have those solutions). There is a lot of great advice on this thread.
