I spoke with a Tomorrowland Opps manager last night and he said there have been some operational issues with the TTA and the lights will be on all the time for the forseeable future, but he doesnt think it will be permanate.

I rode on 5/7 and the lights were on. It actually bothered me while riding space mountain before hand. Make the SM track too visable for my liking. We then rode both SM and the peoplemover again on 5/9 and the lights were off.....so who knows.

But I agree, lights on for the peoplemover blows for both rides.

Sounds like ifra red camera issues. At least this is the only problem I can find logical.

What I cant understand is how a company like Disney cant figure something like that out, replace IR emitters, cameras, etc. quickly rather than deliver a less than acceptable experience. Even if it needed more diagnosing, they could simply close the ride temporarily, determine the problem, find the best solution, devise a plan, and execute it.

Will be there this weekend and hope whatever it is, its fixed.

We were at MK on 5/8 and Space Mountain was 101 while we were on the Peoplemover and I *finally* got to see SM with the lights on!!! We rode the peoplemover 2x so I could get photos and video. When the ride was up later that evening, both the work lights for the Peoplemover & SM (obviously) were off.

We rode it again on 5/11 and the Peoplemover lights were on :( I said something to the CM at the end of Space Mountain saying it kinda ruins the effect and he said they called over to the Peoplemover to shut the lights off but were told that they were supposed to be left on.

So who knows...any Tomorrowland attractions CMs lurking??

Hey FallenAngel I was there last week and SM went 101 on the 10th too. I had just gotten to the turnstiles at the top of the entrance to SM when it went 101, all the lights came on in the hallway (I didn't notice inside but I assume they did) and we left the ride. Would have hated to be on a shuttle during an e-stop!!!

The TTA lights were on the next two times I rode it (later on the 10th then again on the 12th). They were not on the first time I rode it on the 10th.

When I rode Space last week the lights were on. We were told by a CM that there was "work" being done - not sure what kind of work, but the lights being on made for a scary ride!

Are the ride vehicles visible anymore with the old glow strips?

They should put some sort of markings on the vehicles that makes them visible from the PeopleMover like they used to be with the glow stripes. But instead of visible all the time, make it some reflective material that is only visible when illuminated from a specific type of source. Then they could get the best of both worlds!

I rode both the TTA and Space Mountain yesterday. On the TTA, I was annoyed because all the tunnel lights were on. It looked absolutely terrible. Then on Space, the light from the TTA track was bleeding over so much, you could see the track throughout the whole ride. Those lights need to go off. It really messes up both attractions.

The dark Peoplemover ride though Space Mountain was bad enough. Completely pointless. I'm wondering if anyone at WDI even considered what the changes to Space Mountain would mean to the Peoplemover.

I smell... Lawyers.

Hopefully the work lights are a short-term fix. It would be a better solution to install some of those cool LED lights that are on the rest of the Wedway track and turn them to red or purple. Something cool, and which wouldn't bleed over into the SM area so much. And maybe they could some up with something for the Peoplemover riders to look at. The only thing worse than Bad Show is No Show.

Agreed.

We rode it last week, and with those lights on, you definitely could make out the track all around you, and it ruined the effect. Also, you could not see any little twinkling "star" lights. It felt like just a regular rollercoaster in the semi-dark.

I was on both rides yesterday. TTA lights were on in the tunnel, don't like that so much. Space Mountain was as dark as ever, front seat of the ride and I couldn't see one inch of track.

For what it's worth, we were there last week and rode Peoplemover/TTA several times, day and night, and the lights were on inside all of the interior tunnels... not only in Space Mountain, but everywhere.

I certainly hope this is not a permanent change, as it really ruins the experience seeing bright lights shining on black walls, pipes, etc (which by the way, were all noticeably covered in dust/grime). While it didn't ruin my day :lookaroun it was noticed and did take away from the experience.

The IR cameras only cover the slow-moving entry tunnel portion of Space Mountain. (You can see the IR floodlights up and to the right halfway through the tunnel) The faster semi-circular section of track does not have cameras, but it does have pressure mats.

This was happening way back in March when I was there for Spring Break one day on one day off! They must be doing something, we were told the same thing about the switch when we asked that they could not turn them off!

I'm not a Tomorrowland CM, but I am married to a status coordinator at Space Mountain...

The Peoplemover work lights have been on for going on a month now. Maintenance and Reedy Creek were doing some work/testing and the work lights on/off switch apparently shorted out and they can't figure out a way to turn them off now.

Well, that wouldn't explain why they're on one day and then off the next, would it!?! Somewhere between May 1st and the 6th the lights were off but then on the May 7th they were on the whole day. And we have various other reports in this thread saying the same thing. And why would a CM lie about it. She looked me in the face and said she was ordered to leave them on but she wasn't told the reason. If there was a problem wouldn't she have said they're malfunctioning!?!
