No more characters at Liberty Tree Tavern??

This was always a stop for us on our annual trip. We have gone to MNSSHP or MVMCP and have had dinner prior to the parties. The MNSSHP was great in 2006. I had a Goofy costume on and Goofy went nuts and made a scene in our little area of the restaurant, got some great pictures. The food is great for our family, espcially me since I have Gluten Allergy the Chef takes very good care of me. They even had gluten free macaroni & cheese and gluten free brownies. We're going in Nov. this year and will be going to MVMCP but have not decided if we'll dine there or somewhere else. Time will tell, but putting the characters back would solve my problem.

Yes, it is true. The characters have been removed but the food and price are the same. The cast at LTT is especially sadden by the departure of the characters. Attendance has indeed taken a dip since the departure as well causing some servers being sent home early on some evenings.

Also, if you would like to help, please see my signature.

I dunno.. I always thought the best part about LTT was the food. Atleast when we ate there it was just delicious. :slurp: The characters were always an extra and although they were fun, I don't see a problem with their departure. I mean c'mon, this is WDW- there are countless places where you can meet, greet, and eat with these characters.

LTT is still open and serving great food! It's a good thing. The big problem is the empty building right next door. Bring back the Diamond Horseshoe Review. :hammer:

Without characters, LTT's dinner is totally skipable. Characters make the meal.

I disagree. I am glad they are gone. Of course, I wish they would go back to a regular menu instead of 'family style' so that I can dine there again!

Oh, and did you hear that Boatrights won't be serving breakfast after 2/21/09?

That figures. They only serve one of the best breakfast's at WDW ...

More Walmarting ... magical.

So are you saying that the entertainment cuts at LTT are not walmarting but the service cuts at Boatwrights are?

very disappointed to hear LTT no longer has character meals, that was on our list every year to eat. With kids, character meals make the night because they are always rowdy, excited, etc. and having an establishment to go to that allows for that excitement makes it easier on the parents to keep their kids quieter... we loved LTT and will not be going back until characters return if they ever do.

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
From what i have heard, LTT has had a HUGE drop in reservations since the characters have been dropped.

Good.. now perhaps I can get in and have a normal meal. :king:  :lookaroun

Yeah... I havent been to LTT since it went with characters.... now I shall return! :)

Now we know who the one guest was that didn't like characters at LTT.
Dude...I am the original character meal hater...from way back!

DMC-12It stinks that its still family style though. I to wish it would go back to the previous menu.
Absolutely. The characters have been chased out, now it's time to bring back a normal menu.

Seriously, I've been making this point in several threads.
One restaurant per park is enough for character meals. MK already had Crystal Palace, so there was no need to contaminate Liberty Tree and especially Royal Table. It's bad enough MK doesn't have something on the level of Blue Bayou, now we have to dash for Tony's to avoid character meals and set menus? Horrible.

Right on. Folks should be able to get a "serious" quality meal at the MK. Better yet in every "land" at the MK. The "contaminate" comment is hilarious.

OK, we have 3, you being number 1 :)

MK and Epcot had 2 each, the other parks 1 if I am correct. Is Garden Grill still character? I would have no issue with only 1 place per park having a charcter meal, leaving certain restaurants in the resorts to provide the characters.

I guess the rumor about Tortuga Pirates Meal coming to Adventureland Veranda is out of the question? LOL.

True that! At this point I really don't care for dining at MK... too many characters and not a decent meal to be found. I remember way back when the Crystal Palace wasn't character either; don't know if the food was better though - never got the chance to eat there.

Anyway, here's to hoping they bring a normal menu back to LTT! :)

I don't mind the characters being gone, but I wish they would just do the lunch menu for dinner then. I love LTT for lunch, but never did it for dinner because I just do not feel like that type of food normally when at WDW. It just is too filling and makes you want to sit and do nothing, not enjoy a day at the parks. Plus it is (to me) cold weather food and not something you want to eat on a hot day.

Having that high of a priced all you can eat meal with no charactes seems very wrong. I think something is going to have to change for it be successful. Either bring back the charaters or change the menu and price.

Oh no, they both are.

I'd just argue that making almost every full serve location at the MK into a character location was WalMarting to begin with.

I used to love dining at King Stefan's and now I never will again because they went from one character meal to two to now all day dining and that ruined it for people like myself.

I used to love dinner at LTT ... that became a loud, family-style character mess.

But getting rid of them while keeping the same serving style and price points is absolutely Wal-Marting.

You are correct!

Lunch has remained blessedly character-free ... and has been one of my favorite lunch locales ... even if you have to force them to serve you rolls and apple butter now (Disney spin: guests weren't eating the rolls and we threw out so many ... so now guests must magically know to ask/demand them ... sorry, huge pet peeve of mine).

I still won't go back for dinner. Not until they have a regular a la carte menu that isn't $30 a person.
