No Marvel in Orlando???

This story says that Disney can't use their Marvel properties in Orlando ....why??? I really want to see Marvel in DHS!!:shrug:

I think there's more of a mechandise deal. Which then can incorporate into The Disney store to appeal to boys.

As far as I know, Disney can't use Marvel in the Orlando parks until Universal stops using them. The way the current deal is structured allows Disney to look at Universal's finances to make sure they are getting paid appropriate royalties, which I'm sure Universal is not happy with. I'd expect to see Marvel Superhero Island begin to exit within the next 3-5 years and after all remnants at Universal are gone, Disney will be able to add them to WDW.

It was my understanding that Disney World could only use Marvel characters for an attraction if Universal didn't alreay have a ride/attraction based on that character. That leaves quite a door open. However, if what you guys are saying is true, none can go in WDW. I have not heard that.

Seriously?

The simple answer is that Universal, supposedly, has a clause in its already standing contract with Marvel Entertainment to the use of the characters east of the Mississippi. The contract is also, supposedly, perpetually renewing. Meaning as long as Universal wants them (and is willing to pay), they got them.

this is great news to me. Marvel doesn't belong anywhere in WDW.

I think that Disney is smart on this one.
Just think they don't have to make any rides in WDW and they will get a
share of universal gate.
