No clue what to do with 6th full day

Hey all . . . .

Been a while since I've posted. I'm happy to say that DW and I are planning our first "full" trip with our DD(4 at time of visit) for July 2011. Planning on 7 days/7 nights at CRB, with the first day being a half day at MK. I have two more days slotted for MK, then one day each for Epcot, AK, and DHS. That leaves one full day for somewhere. We will have park hoppers and will have a vehicle, so I was thinking of just hoppin' around to our favorite rides, but that might be a bit taxing on the Little One. My other thought was to just resort hop for a bit and hit DtD, but I'm not sure if that's something DD would enjoy.

So what would you all do with your "extra" day at Disney, presuming you'd done everything you'd wanted?

Cheers,
Dave

A few years ago we took my nephew with us(5 at the time). we had a day free too and we decided to do a park half the day(I would do Epcot in your case or DHS if you don't get to see all the shows) and then we went to mini golf at winter summerland. It was a relaxing day and it worked out well for all of us.

We always pick one day and stay away from the parks...We hit Dowentown Disney and do most of our shopping..by the time we do this I have had plenty of time to look everything over and i know what i want. Have a nice lunch downtown....DH and 2-DD hit a moive and shop some more. This would be the day i do any laundry if it needs to be done...we pack light and i dont mind do the wash. Once we are donw there we head back to the resort for a afternoon of swimming and then getting ready for the evening. (nice for family to have a sleep in day)

We like half a day to visit Downtown Disney. We'd go to HS in the morning to grab a Fast Pass for Toy Story then hop in line so we're getting two rides on it early, look around the park and leave around noon and go to Downtown Disney for shopping and lunch.

I'm kind of leaning this way. I figure after 4 days of nonstop parking, the Fam may enjoy a day to sleep in and relax. Does anyone have any preference as to when their "off day" is?

When our kids were young, we always scheduled a "no park" day after 2 or 3 days of park hopping. We'd sleep in, relax at the pool, and just enjoy the resort. The kids always enjoyed visiting Fort Wilderness for a few hours, eating dinner over there, then staying for the campfire program.

Bear in mind too that July in FL is extremely hot & humid, so plan breaks for every day.

If I had an extra day I would relax at the resort and maybe go to Downtown Disney for half of the day. Later in the afternoon I would go back to the Magic Kingdom, after all it is the most magical park of the 4. I always plan a Magic Kingdom last day to revisit favorite attractions and see more shows and parades. There are a lot of things to do at WDW, so just play it by ear and do what ever you want the 6th day.

We always plan our off day during the half way point of our trip. And I usually do not plan ahead what we are going to do, because in the past when I have done that we usually end up doing something different than what I had planned! So I just leave the day totally open, and we do whatever we feel like doing. Sleep in, Downtown Disney, resort hop, swim, rent a boat, mini golf....whatever we feel like doing on that particular day.

How about sleep in, DTD in the morning, early lunch, waterpark either before or after a nap, then dinner at a park (Epcot) around 7 and fireworks @ 9?

Blizzard Beach is probably the best for a 4 year old with a kid area, but Typhoon Lagoon is the best overall IMO. We have a 4 & 8 year old, and only really need to spend about 2 hours max at a waterpark before we are ready to leave, so its a fun break. The closer you go to closing too, the less crowded they are. A fun July activity.

I am headed down in March for 5 nights, full 6 days and my plan of attack is 4 full days of parks, maybe mix in a few sessions at the pool since we're staying at the fancy Yacht and Beach Club... but I have to have an afternoon/evening with my tripod and a free park to roam... likely MK and Epcot which produce beautiful shots.

I normally plan our off/down day in the middle of our stay...Wed or Thursday!! Our days of running and going 100% of the time are over..it got really old needing a vacation from our vacation. So a break in the middle is good to recharge to finish the week out!!!

My "off" day usually occurs mid-stay. It is our sleep in day and then we wake up, have breakfast (or lunch depending on how late we sleep), then whatever we feel like doing. But just being my husband and I, our vacations have become less "planned" and more "wake up and decide" type vacations. Usually we end up at MK almost every evening and the days are spent at the other parks or resort hopping and DTD.

I would take the extra day and just relax. Maybe some shopping at DTD or just spending some extra time at the resort pool. Maybe some mini golf. Then if you get bored with that, you can always decide where and what do to.

I agree 100%! That middle "off" day really helps refuel and recharge lol!

I agree with the have a sleep-in day with nothing planned. You can just relax around the pool, go shopping, catch up on laundry, write postcards, and then perhaps go to a park in the evening.

What we did was, after visiting all of the parks, we asked the kids which did they want to go back to and why (why because I didn't want to spend a day at a park simply because of a toy at a shop lol). As for park hopping, it probably is managable with just one child, especially if you use the busses or monorail instead of going out to the parking lot each time.

We do the samething... I can't go to Disney and NOT go to a park everyday.. we tried it one year and HATED IT. Felt like we "wasted a day". Have fun!!!

We will usually hit the two water parks on two separate days of our 10 day trip, usually one early on in the trip and the other one near or at the end of it. Of course they close at 5pm when we are there, so we usually hit up a park or Downtown Disney later that evening after going back to the resort and changing and grabbing a bite to eat.

We also venture off WDW property a couple of times each trip since we drive down and have our own vehicle. We usually try to stay close by, but last trip we actually made a day trip to Siesta Keys on the west coast and had a BLAST!!! We live on Lake Huron up here in Canada and have some of the nicest beaches around, but we all thoroughly enjoyed beach hopping along Siesta Keys and collecting seashells and checking out some of the whitest sand in the world while there. This next trip in March 2011, we are going to head to the east coast for a day and visit the Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach.

Just a couple of suggestions.

answer is obvious to me....it's JULY. hit a water park! probably don't need all day as other posters said, however it's JULY, water park may be crazy crowded and you need most of the day just to do most of the activities even once.
or..........we always leave one day we call a make- up day. whatever we didn't get to finish at one of the parks, we go back and catch. it's often shows at dhs or animal kingdom, or both, as their show schedules make it difficult to catch all of them while only there for one day!
whatever you do with your bonus day..........enjoy, hey, it's disney. can't have a bad day!

Thanks for all the ideas, everyone. Looking like we're going to pull a relaxing day midway through our trip. Now if July would just get here. . . . . .
